Free musical performances at local libraries
“STICK IT TO CANCER”
The Town of Oyster Bay has announced that the Distinguished Artists Concert Series will host multiple performances throughout the month of January 2019 at local libraries throughout the Town. “The Distinguished Artists Concert Series provides free musical and dance programs for the enjoyment of our residents,” said Town of Oyster Bay Councilman Thomas Hand. “I encourage residents to take advantage of these wonderful performances offered by the Town for free at local libraries.” Scheduled performances for January 2019 include: • Vintage Bliss on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 1 pm at the Syosset Public Library – Tribute to the Timeless Music of the Great American Songbook.
Bethpage High School recently held its “Stick it to Cancer” Benefit Hockey game at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage. The event was organized and coordinated with the Town following hockey team captain Derek Zacchino’s diagnosis of brain cancer. The Stick it to Cancer Benefit Game raised funds that were directly donated to Cohen’s Children Hospital. Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino (center, right) recently attended and supported the game.
Shuttle bus holiday servicechanges
The Town of Oyster Bay will modify its shuttle service schedule for the upcoming holidays, including adding three hours to evening hours for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Shuttle buses run to and from the former Sears property parking lot to the Hicksville Train Station Monday through Friday. The modified schedule will be as follows: • Monday, December 24th:
Service will begin three hours early, starting at 1 pm, and run through 9 pm. • Tuesday, December 25th: No bus service • Monday, December 31st: Service will begin three hours early, starting at 1 pm, and run through 9 pm. • Tuesday, January 1, 2019: No bus service Shuttle bus service runs from
the former Sears property to the Hicksville train station is provided as repairs are being finalized at the Town’s parking garage on Duffy Avenue. The lot is available to commuters with a Town parking permit. Shuttle bus service is generally provided Monday through Friday, from 5 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 9 pm.
