Rebates for smart irrigation The height of summer is upon us and that means irrigation systems will be running at peak frequencies throughout Hicksville. To help combat the sharp spike in water usage the summer season brings, the District has launched a smart controller rebate program, providing a new
tool for residents to conserve water. This $150 rebate program will be made available to the first 50 qualified applicants to offset the traditional tripling of water consumption that occurs this time of year and also combat the 13.2 percent increase in pumpage from this time last year.

Town of OB Salute Veterans July 13 The Town of Oyster Bay is seeking to honor veterans as part of the annual Veterans Awards Ceremony, and nominations are currently being sought. The ceremony will take place as part of the Town’s “Salute to Veterans” event featuring Lee Greenwood, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, July 13, at 7:30 p.m. at TOBAY Beach. “In these uncertain times, I wanted to make sure we found an especially meaningful way to recognize those who bravely and selflessly served our nation. This holds special significance this year, as most Memorial Day activities are cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” said Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino. “The Town of Oyster Bay invites residents to nominate extraordinary individuals who have made a difference in our veteran communities. An important part of the celebration includes the Town’s Veteran Volunteer Awards, which honors our veterans and those who advocate on their behalf.” “The ‘Salute to Veterans’ concert provides the ideal backdrop to recognize and honor our veterans and individuals who continue to actively serve in the community and advocate for issues and concerns relative to veterans. The Town is proud to recognize and honor amazing individuals who have helped to shape our communities for the better through their continuing advocacy and exemplary community service each year,” Supervisor Saladino said. “The last year has been incredibly tough due to the global pandemic, and our veterans and elderly have been severely impacted. Now that we have done our part to flatten the curve and we have seemed to turn a corner and protected our most vulnerable populations, I am delighted to honor these deserving individuals at this upcoming event.” “Over the past year, our great nation has come together to face COVID-19, so honoring our veterans carries an especially poignant message of unity and our love of freedom. I hope residents will consider submitting a nomination of an individual who deserves special recognition for their continued efforts on behalf of the veteran’s community,” Supervisor Saladino said. “The Town is proud to recognize and honor amazing individuals who have helped to shape our communities for the better through their continuing advocacy and exemplary community service each year. I look forward to recognizing these outstanding individuals, especially after a year where so many of us have gained a greater appreciation of our freedom and all of the things that unite us as a Nation.”
