Fire districts send medical aid “Farm to Fairway” in Town of Oyster Bay to Ukraine frontlines Kelp to be used as natural fertilizer

The Town of Oyster Bay recently harvested the last of the Town’s sugar kelp, grown in local waterways to ultimately be dried, composted and used to treat landscaping at the Town’s golf course and other Town parks facilities. Through initial kelp operations put in place in cooperation with Adelphi, SUNY Stony Brook, and Cornell Cooperative Extension, the Town now grows over 3,000 feet of kelp — the equivalent of 10 football fields — in Harry Tappen Marina, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park Marina,

Grand larceny arrest Town of Oyster Bay officials with members of the Ukranian Congress of America, Long Island Chapter, with 4,000 pounds of medical supplies collected to aid Ukraine. Officials from the Town of Oyster Bay joined with members of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America Long Island Chapter to recognize the Association of Fire Districts of Nassau County as they prepared to ship 4,000lbs of medical supplies to the frontlines in Ukraine. plies is being transported by the Terry Farrell Foundation to a local port, and will reach the people of Ukraine through the Association’s partnership with St. Vladimir’s Parish Center in Uniondale. Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino stated, “The volunteer fire service is dedicated to protecting people’s lives and prop-

erty, and their sense of service is what made our volunteers step up to assist Ukrainians fighting to protect their homeland. I thank our firefighters and EMS workers for their service to our nation, and to the cause of freedom around the globe.”

Nassau County Police arrested a Bethpage man for allegedly stealing item from vehicles in Levittown on Saturday, April 16. According to detectives, at 7:40 a.m. the police received several 911 calls for a man going through cars and carrying a machete on Jupiter Lane, Hickory Lane and Mallard Road. Police responded to the area and found Vincent Derosa, 40, on Farm Ranch Road South.
