Hicksville High School students Beau Flay, Marion Rai and Katelyn Suarez were recognized at the Feb. 15 Board of Education meeting for earning Regional Awards from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards through the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

Marion Rai earned two Gold Key Awards for the poetry submissions titled “an elegy to understand (me), mother” and “The Art of Blending In.” Katelyn Suarez was honored with a Silver Key Award for the short story titled “Smile” and Beau Flay garnered an Honorable Mention for the poem “Sour 16.”
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards were founded in 1923 and exist to inspire and celebrate creative teens throughout the country.
