$150K grant for Hicksville downtown The Town of Oyster Bay has been awarded a $150,000 grant to assist in the redevelopment of downtown Hicksville, the town announced recently. The funds will be used to beautify the downtown and improve safety for pedestrians. The Town has also been awarded almost $10 million in state grants for revitalization of the downtown area near the Long Island Rail-
road station. This February, a new transit-oriented development will open at 35 Broadway, to replace formerly vacant commercial space. The development will include 18 residential units above a "Work Smart" office-sharing space on the ground floor. The town is reviewing zoning changes to complement the revitalization ini-
tiative. Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino stated, “Downtown Hicksville is on the edge of a renaissance thanks to a commitment from the Town of Oyster Bay, New York State and the private sector. We will transform the downtown area into a vibrant destination with new housing opportunities, local jobs and open space."
