As women, we often find ourselves being mindful of others' actions and feelings, sometimes causing us to hesitate in pursuing our desires Can you share when you decided to take that leap and confidently pursue your goals?

That moment marked one of the lowest points in my life, a time when I felt broken and utterly lost In 2019, amidstatumultuousandunhappyrelationship,Ifound myself curled up on the bathroom floor, reaching out for help but receiving no response. In that darkness, I realized I had no choice but to turn to God, knowing that if He couldn't help me, I would lose all sense of spiritandpurpose Withtearsstreamingdownmyface, I prayed for guidance, surrendering everything to Him It was a turning point where I recognized that my gifts and talents were meant for a purpose beyond myself. From then on, I committed to embracing my true self and trusting God's plan. Remarkably, this shift opened doors to incredible opportunities I could have never imagined

As someone who openly embraces their Christian faith, how do you navigate the challenges of remaining true to your beliefs in an industry that may not always align with those values?

When I first entered the industry, my primary goal was to secure roles However, my perspective shifted after landing a lead role in a short film that didn't resonate with me spiritually Despite the accolades I received, I felt uneasy about compromising my values for fame This pivotal moment has led me to reevaluate my approach and make a covenant with God only to pursue roles that aligned with His will and glorified Him While this decision has limited my opportunities in the industry, I've found peace knowing that God is faithful and provides for my needs Today, standing up for my faith isn't a challenge, as I've experienced firsthand that compromising my morals isn't worth the cost I'm grateful for the lessons learned and now strive to encourage others to stay true to their beliefs, even in the face of temptation

As someone who inspires countless individuals, how does it feel to be a source of inspiration for others who have felt particularlystrongorluminousyourself?

Humble I acknowledge my imperfections and recognize that any success I achieve is not solely due to my efforts but also by the grace of God He promised to elevate me, and I remain humble because I know it's His doing, not mine If you were to ask me, I don't believe I deserve to be where I am today Without God's intervention, I wouldn't be here Therefore, when people commend me for inspiring or aiding them, I immediately redirect their praise to God It begins and ends with Him

I'dlovetodelveintoyourventurewith1820Hats Canyoushare howtheideaforthebrandcameaboutandwhatinspiredyouto startdesigningandcreatinghats?

The inspiration for 1820 Hats struck me back in 2017 during a talk show where I encountered an artist who had personalized his Fedora Intrigued, I asked if he crafted such hats himself, to which he responded negatively, explaining it was just his creation The moment lingered in my mind, fueled by my love for hats and my passion for art therapy One day, accidentally splattering paint on a hat, I turned what could've been a mishap into a stroke of inspiration I shared the idea with a friend who coincidentally had a knack for design Together, we embarked on the journey of creating 850 Hats Our first design a splatter hat began an incredible journey, forging meaningful connections and fostering creativity As our brand evolved, it expanded into a broader vision, merging into a non-attire company This transition signifies a deeper commitment to crowning individuals with purpose, identity, and style The name "1820 Hats" stems from Matthew 18:20, emphasizing the power of unity and collaboration in our endeavors

So many people want to go into the Entertainment industry and be the next biggest thing. However, pursuing that dream comes with a lot and it can be overwhelming at times. What advice would you have foraspiringartistsandproducers?

It's crucial to believe in yourself, even when nobody else does People may offer their opinions, advice, or even criticism, but if you ' re passionate about something, don't let your doubts deter you Each day brings new opportunities and possibilities, so never give up on your dreams Secondly, embrace the concept of " we are the purpose " This means that your purpose lies in how you can positively impact others By helping someone today, you pave the way for them to achieve their goals tomorrow. It's a principle echoed in teachings across various philosophies and religions – the idea that by assisting others, you ultimately help yourself As an artist, I've always found fulfillment in supporting fellow creators, whether it is a producer, MC, or local talent at an event We organized an Atlanta tour this past February, where we showcased emerging artists and provided them with a platform to shine Even small gestures, like encouraging a vendor to expand their business online, can make a significant difference By consistently offering support and assistance to others, you'll find yourself on a path toward fulfillment and success

Alzheimer's Care Givers

I worked as a master's prepared Social Worker in many fields, including Geriatrics In addition to my work-related experience, I was the lone caregiver for my mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's Thankfully, my son and cousin joined me during the last years of a sixteen-year journey. While working in a Senior Health Care Center, I developed and facilitated, along with a Registered nurse, in an Alzheimer's Caregivers support group During the nurse ' s career, she cared for patients troubled by memory loss In addition to her professional experience, my co-facilitator was also involved in the care of three family members who suffered from Dementia. My job description also allowed me to counsel providers overwhelmed with the responsibilities and stress of their daunting tasks My level of involvement leads me to believe caregiving can be a terminal condition Those called to attend to others full-time often place the patient's needs above all else, including their well-being I sacrificed my career, my home, and ultimately my health to provide for my mother because I saw no other choice During my tenure in the medical field, I witnessed caregivers who surrendered much more than I did, with some giving their lives. Yes, it is not unusual to see the patient bury their caregiver. This is a drastic but realistic fact

Because of my observations, I am committed to giving the caregiver a voice and assisting these heroic persons in permitting themselves to indulge in self-care regularly This blog aims to share some of my experiences in the hope that some of you will do likewise I want to speak about the importance of self-care, give some recommendations on how the quest for self-care may be achieved, and dive into the importance of finding support But first, I will offer some suggestions for an official diagnosis Symptoms of Dementia include memory loss, declining motor function, disorientation, changing behavior, apparent cognitive decline, as well as other factors However, these warning signs may also be manifested in other medical or emotional conditions Before assuming your loved one has Alzheimer's or some other form of Dementia, please encourage your relative to have a complete physical. My mother had been widowed shortly before she demonstrated a number of the aforementioned behaviors as well as Anorexia.

Although I assumed she had developed Alzheimer's, her doctor ruled out grieving, clinical depression, and malnutrition before he considered a diagnosis of Dementia. He then referred her to a neurologist who ran a battery of written and verbal tests and ordered an MRI It was only after having the results of all testing that the verdict I feared was delivered Upon receiving the test results from the neurologist, her primary care physician prescribed medication that would possibly slow the progression of the disease, ordered home health, and made numerous other recommendations We know our relatives better than others, but most of us are not health professionals If you have a medical background, you know that attempting to diagnose or treat a close relative is ill-advised. Get that complete physical done as soon as possible Has your spouse, parent, or sibling shown signs of memory loss, altered behavior, etc? Let me hear from you Let's take this journey together and remember whatever your challenges may be, Today, Choose Life

As a black woman with a powerful voice in writing, how do you define the significance and impact of this power in your life and work?

As a black woman, the power of writing holds immense significance, especially considering the historical silencing and disenfranchisement of women of color. 7 STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL BOOK LAUNCH BY LASHAUNDA

Most authors think of book launches when they think of the book launch party, which is the last part of the celebration. Your book launch is part of your promotion plan and one of the steps to introducing your book. If you don’t have a promotion plan for your book, check out my book Building Online Relationships One Reader at A Time

It will help you work on your promotion plan I teach my clients a seven-step program for launching their books Below, you will find the steps I teach Your book launch is a step-by-step introduction to your book It is your way of getting future readers excited about your upcoming book

STEPONE-BOOKINTRO

Most authors believe their book intro starts with the cover reveal It starts when you start the book If you are sharing your writing journey with your readers, you let them know you have a new book coming on the horizon when you start the manuscript. Keep them informed of the journey of writing the book. It’s an easy way to advertise the book without spending a dime This is also the time I suggest starting your email list because you can capture those readers who want to hear more about your manuscript

The cover reveal is exciting because you want the readers to know the book is real and heading down the production line I highly recommend not sharing the book cover until you have a pre-order link to accompany it You want the readers in the buy mode and ready to commit to you and your book The pre-order link also lets you know how many readers are interested in reading the book because they commit to ordering it before it’s released The book cover reveal will also include the official launch date Give yourself 1-3 months before the lau h

What intrigues you the most about how Black women have pioneered the literary industry for many years, and how does this influence your approach to writing and storytelling?

What I find most intriguing about my writing and storytellingismyabilitytoworkacrossdiversemediums. She was often misunderstood and underappreciatedbyherpeersduringherlifetime.I sometimes feel overlooked or misunderstood in certaincircles WhileIdon'tcomparemyselftoher,I connectwiththesenseofisolationsheexperienced As a screenwriter, I draw inspiration from Robert Townsend for his skill in crafting compelling stories about black culture and people, often doing so independently In the realm of television, Issa Rae's work captivates me, particularly her ability to authenticallydepicttheexperiencesofyoungblack women, celebrating both the conventional and unconventionalnarrativeseffortlessly.Injournalism, Ta-Nehisi Coates is a significant influence on me. What inspired you to deliver a video in 2020 that used a Monopoly metaphor to highlight the financial challenges facing Black America?

The passion behind that moment stemmed from a deep sense of frustration and urgency. Whathasbeenthebiggestchallengeinyour journey?

I wrote this book as an extension of that video, aiming to offer more constructive solutions. The speech that went viral, "How Can We Win?" stemmedfromaplaceofexhaustionanddefeat in the argument. I wanted the book to convey a more positive message, hence framing it as "How We Can Win." The full title of the book is "How We Can Win: Race, History, and Changing theMoneyGamethat'sRigged."Itwasessential for me to transition from highlighting the problems to proposing solutions. I'm inherently solution-oriented, so I aimed to expand on that pivotal moment and provide a detailed exploration of history's impact on the present. Moreover, I discussed the tools available from both the past and present that could facilitate realchangeandcreateapositiveimpactonthe future.
