ACADEMICS Grades K-8 The i-Ready Assessment Series was adopted by Lisle Elementary and Lisle Junior High Schools in the fall of 2020 to provide student performance data and support resources in the areas of math and reading.

Three assessment windows (fall, winter, and late spring) provide actionable data about students’ grade level proficiency based on state and national standards and shows students’ growth over time.

Once a student’s proficiency is identified, online and traditional paper practice modules may be assigned to address specific standards to accelerate growth.

Preliminary data indicates that the i-Ready resources have had a positive impact on student proficiency. Some students identified as below grade level have seen more than the expected annual growth to date after participating in the additional i-Ready practice modules.

Grades 9-12 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, administered by The College Board, are undergraduate-level course curricula designed to prepare students for the rigor and expectations of college. Students who complete AP courses typically take the AP exam for that subject and may earn college credit if a score of three or higher is achieved.

Lisle High School first offered two Advanced Placement (AP) course options in 2009 with 32 students opting to take the subject exam. Today, the number of AP options has grown to 13 with 97 students enrolled in AP courses electing to participate in the subject exams. We are proud to share that this year 28 students were recognized as AP Scholars as a result of their performance on the tests: 10 AP Scholars, 4 AP Scholars with Honor, and 14 AP Scholars with Distinction.

2020-2021 LEARNING MODELS Lisle 202 began phasing in in-person instruction in September based on student need, with the majority of students returning to in-person attendance in October. Over the course of the school year, expanded schedules and attendance opportunities have been implemented to support students while adhering to COVID-19 mitigation strategies.

Between October 2020 and March 2021, the majority of students at each school have attended in-person in the hybrid learning model. In Grades K-8, fully remote students participate simultaneously in class online with the in-person cohort and in grades 9-12, fully remote students participate in the Edgenuity program with Lisle 202 staff support.

On March 9, 2021, the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education released updated guidance for schools that revised the recommended social distancing between students to 3-6 feet in the classroom and changed the restriction on large spaces to allow individuals based on social-distancing capacity.

As a result of this updated guidance, all K-12 students who receive in-person instruction will return to five days of in-person learning each week in April, 2021. The new guidance will allow for all students to return while continuing to implement the recommended mitigation strategies to protect the health and safety our learning community.

Lisle Elementary School’s Hero Squad fundraiser raised a significant amount of money to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Lisle High School Senior, Jay M., advanced to be recognized as a National Merit Finalist. He is one of approximately 7,500 students nationally to earn this distinction.

The Class of 2021 has the largest number of students in school history recognized for completing seven semesters with a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 or higher.

Lisle 202 English Language Learners from grades 2-12 competed and earned honors in the Illinois Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages’ (ITBE) Annual Poetry Contest.

Lisle High School Junior, Marisa S., was named the Technology Center of DuPage’s (TCD) January Student of the Month.

Marisa is a part of the Nursing Assistant Training Program. Technology Center of DuPage offers career and technical education programs (CTE) to DuPage area high school students.

TECHNOLOGY IN LISLE 202 Over the past decade, technology has become more and more a part of our everyday lives, and also a significant part of our instructional delivery. This year, more than ever, we have relied on technology to provide instruction and as a means to stay connected.

“Google Apps for Education” has become the main interface for students and staff to work collaboratively “in the cloud” without sitting in the same physical space.

As our technology interactions have changed over the years, so has the inventory size and type of technology devices our students and staff use. Lisle 202 is committed to ensuring every student in grades K-12 has a device at their fingertips through our 1:1 device program, and, access to educational resources and the curriculum.

The Lisle 202 Board of Education is committed to managing resources in a fiscally responsible manner. Annual increases have been consistent with the U.S. Consumer Price Index to cover the rising costs of expenditures and the District’s property tax rate is comparable to neighboring school districts (per $100 of assessed property value).

During the 2020-2021 school year, the Board of Education approved: • A property tax abatement for the third consecutive year totaling nearly $2,000,000 in savings for Lisle 202 property owners. This year’s abatement results in little to no increase for current homeowners on their 2020 property tax bill (payable in 2021).

• A waiver for 2020-2021 school fees, totaling approximately $230,000 for all Lisle 202 families.
