LETTER FROM THE OWNER Seventeen years ago we made an exciting decision. We moved our family from a conventional Brentwood sub-division to a 10.6 acre farm in Nolensville. We had always loved the countryside. Ted longed to raise animals, live an outdoor lifestyle and we thought our children would thrive in this huge natural playground. Our search for property was restricted to a tiny area so that Cam and Alexa could stay in their great schools. We fell in love with this property immediately and the location was perfect. Right on the Brentwood/Nolensville line and just a few minutes from Nashville, Smyrna and Cool Springs. It was a rare combination of meadow and woods. It was level. There was a quaint creek. The home-site was out of sight from the road and centered on the property so we had privacy from neighbors on all sides. It came with a barn and the potential was enormous. Unfortunately the house did not meet our needs, so we undertook a massive addition/renovation and built the home of our dreams. Our goal was to build a spacious but cozy high-quality and unique home that brought the outdoors in at every opportunity. The property has given us endless opportunities. We have raised cattle, sheep, chickens, puppies and kittens. Our children have had the opportunity to raise chicks, build both a coop and a sheep shelter, see calves/lambs being born, yet still live minutes from their high school. We’ve grown vegetables, cutting flowers, herbs and blackberries. Our place has been the perfect setting for kite-flying, croquet, bocce, frisbee golf, mountain biking, volleyball, cricket, hayrides, walks in the woods on our trails, fire-fly hunting, sledding, cross-country skiing, star-gazing and bird-watching. There have been innumerable cook-outs, campfires, birthday and prom gatherings. So many happy memories. The area has certainly changed since we moved in but thankfully the development has only enhanced our living experience here. We now have access to all the restaurants that are just minutes away. We are 7 minutes from both Kroger and Publix and we have lots of new friends in the new sub-divisions that have sprung up. If we had to choose one word that we feel describes our home it would be “retreat”. There is nothing like coming home after a busy day to this private, peaceful, natural haven. It once buzzed with the sounds of all our farm animals and children but now it’s much quieter and we have found yet another beautiful side to this versatile gem of an estate. The outdoor fun of active management has been replaced by a more care-free naturalized setting where the deer, fox, bunnies, and wild turkey roam free. We may be just minutes from everything but it feels like a world away from the stress and bustle of everyday living. We love the secluded location, nestled in this park-like hollow surrounded by trees, meadows, songbirds and animals. Sleeping on our screened porch is one of our favorite things to do here when the weather is comfortable. It is a unique property and we feel incredibly blessed to have lived here. We thought we’d be here forever but dreams change and a new era beckons us. Our children have grown and it’s time for someone else to become a part of this special homestead’s story.
