Commissioned by American Composers Orchestra, Steven Sloane, music director, Robert Beaser, artistic director, Dennis Russell Davies, conductor laureate, with the generous support of the Helen F. Whitaker Fund “Start” is the final piece in a cycle of four pieces together entitled “The Right Weather,” which received its premiered by the American Composers Orchestra, conducted by Steven Sloane, and pianist Andrew Armstrong, on February 27, 2004, at Zankel Hall in New York City.
