Hello. My name is Lingyu.

With both my parents born in mainland China, myself in Spain, my immediate family residing in the USA and my partner being Australian, I constantly find myself adapting rapidly to different environments, cultures and understandings. Naturally this comes with challenges but has also blessed me with a strong worldly view and communicative range, speaking Spanish, Catalan, English and Chinese (Mandarin).

Throughout my life I have always found myself intrigued in the processes used by people around the world, not only in architecture but all creative forms. During my degree I studied in Spain, South Africa, The Netherlands, China and England.

I consider myself an active person with a great desire to learn and challenge. During my architecture career, I have had the opportunity to work in big scale commercial and public projects in China, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco, as well as multi residential projects in Senegal, Madagascar and Spain. I am currently studying an online masters in BIM management which after my work experience in internationaI projects, I believe is an essential asset to add to the architecture field.

My current goal is to be able to join a studio in which I can apply all my already acquired knowledge and experience, and at the same time, allow me to develop professionally with the guidance of a respected firm.

Proposal for an extension, 7000m2

Barcelona, Spain 2018

Project introduction

-Connection between built and public space-

After a deep study of the site, the main conclusion was that the entrance of the University wasn’t related to the actual circulation of people and traffic. Two main things to solve projecting a new extension were green areas and connections.

This new building is conceived as a main gate for the whole Campus, closing a whole area and making a wiser connection between the existing Campus and the public transport.

The building is formed by three different volumes which are connected by an exterior pergola.

It has a concrete skeleton made with pilars and wooden carpentry and panels.

The location of this project is on a plot where it is currently a parking lot

Since the whole urbanization of the area was made, in 1990 for the ‘92 Olympic Games, it has not been used for anything else apart from as a public parking.

It is a plot strategically located at the end of the UPF Ciutadella Campus and very well located in terms of connections.

The site is in the middle of a very structural grid such as the Eixample and an organic structure of parks and buildings that no longer line up following the grid.

As for the project, it is defined as an entrance to the entire Campus, much more in keeping with its structure than the current entrance, taking into account the connections and the auence of people.

Project introduction

-Flexible space within the city-

Renovation of a warehouse between existing buildings to create a new function, a housing and a studio for an artist.

The main idea of the project is to create a fringe of certain thickness that distributes all the elements that the dwelling and the flexible space needs.

This thick axis is used to privatize different areas and it extends to the exterior, creating and separating public areas.

The fringe element distributes all the spaces. It is formed by all the rigid elements as kitchen, bathroom and staircases, plus storage.

green areas

Different green areas are created in the entrance, making two different entrances, one for the dwelling and another one for the big flexible space.

In addition, there is a backyard at the end of the whole building that gives natural light to the interior.

Project introduction

-New technological development-

The triangle formed by Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei (Xiong’an) allows the decentralization of the capital which expansion needs to open up to an economic, social and political network around the North of the country.

Its main function is to serve as a development hub, thereby not only connectivity, physical and demographic balance are generated, but also an ecological and sustainable connection. A new planning perspective where a codependent balance is created between these three cities.

The new smart area is a Northern extension of the Xiong’an project. It is structured through two perpendicular axes. Consequently, four spaces are generated on both sides of the axes. To connect these neighborhoods, the city is broken with two green community rings.

All of the blocks has 18m de 10m, 15m 20m wide. They are connected by a ver tical core of 3m. Project introduction

-Arts and cultural development-

The project for the Royal Arts Complex rises out of a general strategy to combine and intensify art-related experiences within the framework of the overall King Salman Park plan.

Integrating different park typologies, extraordinary art pieces, and iconic buildings, the proposed masterplan creates a holistic and integrated development for Riyadh.

The Royal Arts Complex pushes the idea of space diversity, while still binding them at multiple scales, from building courtyards to the metropolitan scale.

The volumetric structure aims to articulate a fundamentally low profile with a remarkable monumentality.

Project introduction

-Luxury Residences Complex-

The project comprises three residential buildings that include a total of 66 units, featuring five different types of typologies. The buildings include one-room studios, as well as two, three, and four-room apartments.

Terrace sizes vary to introduce movement to the architecture, breaking up rigid lines and providing a more organic and sensitive integration into the surrounding environment.

Access to the buildings includes ground-floor parking with an open-space level, where the surrounding park extends its boundaries, creating green areas inside and around the buildings

Project introduction

-Tranquil Home Retreat-

The goal of this house is to establish an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The design adheres to simple lines, incorporating local construction techniques. The dry-stone walls, distinctive features of the island landscape, serve as one of the defining characteristics of this appealing villa. The use of local stone enables the villa to harmoniously integrate into its surroundings, creating a relaxed atmosphere.

The house is organized around a central courtyard, serving as its core. Large openings on the southern side lead to the pool and terrace, accompanied by a porch.

Every area of this house has been meticulously detailed, with a strong emphasis on interior design.
