series breakdown THE RECORDS Linfield remains in first place at 25-7 overall and 17-3 in NWC play. Puget Sound enters the series at 4-24 overall with a 4-16 NWC mark. LINFIELD AT A GLANCE The Wildcats took both ends of a doubleheader against Lewis & Clark to sweep the season series with the Pioneers. They went on to finish the week with a four-game split against Pacific Lutheran. Seven Wildcats are batting .300 or better. Kamryn Mobley leads the team with a .410 batting average and 32 runs. She is tied for the team lead with 30 RBI and four home runs. Katie Phillips is batting .387 with 46 hits and 14 doubles while Baily Paul has scored 31 times and has 18 stolen bases on 20 attempts. Tayah Kelley is 16-3 in the circle with a 1.20 ERA and an NWC-leading 157 strikeouts. PUGET SOUND AT A GLANCE The Loggers own a .225 team batting average and a 5.17 ERA. Jessica Moore (.310) is the lone player batting above .300. She has collected 22 hits, nine runs, and eight RBI. Hana DeGuzman has 19 hits and 14 runs while Savanna Smith has driven in 12 runs to lead the team. Smith also leads the pitching staff with 66 strikeouts. Kelsie Sullivan posts a 4.13 ERA with 24 punchouts in 42 1/3 innings pitched. THE SERIES Linfield and Puget Sound have met 92 times. The Wildcats won 74 of those games, which includes a streak of 49 straight wins that was ended by the Loggers in 2021. Linfield is 34-10 against Puget Sound at home.

fans can now follow the ’Cats on the roku app The Linfield Sports Network brings fans live action of Linfield softball each week. Fans can watch live play-by-play action of all home games on their desktop computer, tablet or mobile device or smart TV. The Farnham Electric Pregame Show starts 15 minutes prior to each softball game’s joe stuart scheduled start time. Broadcasts include a complete postgame wrap-up, with analysis, final statistics and live interviews with players and coaches. McMinnville native Joe Stuart begins his sixth season as the lead softball play-byplay announcer. A 2020 Linfield graduate, Stuart is the athletic department’s broadcast coordinator, managing all aspects of Linfield’s isaac milner webcasting outreach, while assisting with sports communications and social media needs. Stuart got his start in sports broadcasting with LSN, calling play-by-place for men’s and women’s soccer, basketball, baseball and softball contests. He also served as football sideline reporter for two seasons. Current Linfield men’s tennis player Isaac Milner embarks on his first season of involvement with Linfield softball broadcasts, and will serve as color analyst and occasional play-by-play voice.

three wildcats honored by nwc Tennis star Taryn Fujimori, golf team captain Raegan Barr and track standout Jerrica Pachl are Student-Athletes of the Week Three Linfield Wildcats were recently honored as StudentAthletes of the Week in their re-spective sports. Taryn Fujimori (women’s tennis), Raegan Barr (women’s golf) and Jerrica Pachl (women’s track and field) each received their first career conference citations. Fujimori, a junior from Mililani, Hawaii, won both of her No. 1 singles matches last week and was part of a duo that took both No. 1 doubles matches. Fujimori and teammate Lexie Matsunaga blanked Willamette’s Richelle Suzuki and Anika Groener on Saturday by a score of 8-0. Fujimori took down Suzuki 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles to lead the Wildcats to a 9-0 win in Salem.
jerrica pachl In Sunday’s 8-1 home win against rival George Fox, Fujimori and Matsunaga defeated the Bruins’ Danielle Brown and Olivia Morris, 8-1. Fujimori beat Brown 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 in No. 1 singles. Barr was named the NWC Women’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week after she led Lin-field women’s golf to the team title at the Spring Trilogy 3, hosted by Willamette on Saturday at the McNary Golf Club. She earned medalist honors, finishing in first place with a single-round score of 13-over-par 85, five strokes ahead of second-place Olivia Weaver of Lewis & Clark. The Wildcats finished atop the team leaderboard by 41 strokes with a final score of 385 in their first tournament in 18 days. Pachl was the clear winner of the weekly track award in the high jump at Linfield’s Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational. Her leap of 5 feet, 6 inches was a personal best and edged out the next closest competitor by 3¾ inches. Pachl also ran the second leg on the Wildcats’ winning 4x400-meter relay team that finished nearly nine seconds ahead of runner-up Whitworth at 4:05.22.
WOMEN’S SPORTS HISTORY SOUGHT Did you participate in women’s sports while at Linfield? Dr. Laura Kenow, professor in Health, Human Performance, and Athletics, is heading efforts to create a more complete historical record of women’s sports at Linfield. NFCA TOP 25 POLL linfield slotted 13th in top 25 poll Christopher Newport swept Greensboro this week to remain secure as the top team in the NFCA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll. Christopher Newport (25-1) heads an unchanged top eight, and a first five who have combined to win their last 45 games. That includes No. 2 Salisbury (26-2), which has won 13 straight, third-ranked Texas Lutheran (25-4), which has won its last nine, and No. 4 Birmingham-Southern (25-4), which has won 15 straight. Elsewhere, DePauw (17-6) has prevailed in 14 of its last 15 games, going 4-1 on its California trip. The Tigers’ lone loss out West was a 13-12 loss in 12 innings to then-No. 18 Chapman. Linfield went 4-2 last week, falling one spot in the Top 25 poll to No. 13. The Wildcats swept a doubleheader at Lewis & Clark but went 2-2 in a four-game set at Pacific Lutheran. After two uncharacteristic weeks, No. 14 Virginia Wesleyan (21-8) looked more like itself in Monday’s rule-rule road sweep of Shenandoah (10-0 and 11-1) after voters had cast their ballots. Babson (14-4) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (19-9) entered the top 25 this week after continuing their strong play, which for Mary Hardin-Baylor included another ranked victory — this time a 3-0 win over No. 7 East Texas Baptist.
