First Attendant
Carlie Nielson
Carlie Nielson would rather be riding a horse than anything else. Even though that is where she wants to be 24/7, she is very responsible and dedicated to various projects and gives 110% to everything she puts her mind to. Carlie has been training a young mustang for three years. She also recently started bottle feeding a young calf after its mom passed away unexpectedly. Her goal is to train it and take it to the county or state fair next year.
Carlie is also very diligent with her studies and continues to be on the high honor roll at Pleasant Grove
High School. She has been working for Lindon City for the past year teaching various classes to children ages 7 through 12. She absolutely loves seeing the students she has taught around town at the other city events where she has been a positive role model. She is currently a junior and looking forward to being a senior next year! Carlie truly loved being in the Lindon Rodeo Royalty this past year and is very grateful for those who helped make it such a fun experience.
Second Attendant
Emma Hopkins
Emma Hopkins is 17 years old and is the daughter of Emily and Brigham Hopkins. She lives in Lindon and is the third of seven children. She currently attends Pleasant Grove High School as a junior and has been on high honor roll since seventh grade.
She also has a certificate of achievement in CAD mechanical design, digital business, and manufacturing technology. Her hobbies consist of drawing, baking, and of course, horse riding.
She has loved horses from the time she was very little. Her mother remembers her even at 2 years old wanting “all things horses.” Emma was 12 years old when she talked her parents into letting her take riding lessons. They agreed under the condition that she paid for at least half of her lessons. Emma started putting all of her hard-earned dollars from working in their family business toward learning how to ride. She quickly learned that riding made her feel free; it was an escape from real life. Emma continued to save money and bought her first horse at the age of 15. She is riding that horse, Bandit, today. Emma loves her time with Bandit and learning about the western way of life. Emma has always been a cowgirl at heart and is paving the path toward the rodeo way of life for her family!
