February is the month of love and Lindon Parks & Recreation LOVES our community!! Check out this months newsletter. We have added a Centennial and Senior section to our newsletter. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at recreation@lindoncity.org or by calling 801-769-8625.

SPORTS

SPRING SOCCER

Sign up for Lindon’s Spring Soccer league! The season is set to start April 13. Games will be held at Pioneer Park (150 S 500 E). This is a recreational league, scores, standings, and stats are not kept. Our focus is skill development in a fun, low pressure environment. Practice dates, times and location are determined by the coach. It is requested that teams practice leading up to the first game, and once during the week there after. Season: Saturdays, April 13-May 18

Fee: $40 (Kinder & Under), $45 (1st & Up)

BASEBALL

Lindon City’s Baseball league will be starting in June! We are providing a small-sized, recreation league to focus on skill development and sportsmanship. The league is based on helping the players develop knowledge of the game, and to help focus on fundamentals of baseball. This will provide an opportunity to learn the basics skills. All leagues are recreation, scores and standings will not be kept.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Lindon City’s flag football league will be starting in August! We are providing a small-sized, recreation league to focus on skill development and sportsmanship. Field and team sizes are based on helping the players develop knowledge of the game, and to help focus on fundamentals of football.

All games will be played at Pioneer Park. NEW THIS YEARGames are played either on a Tuesday/Thursday evening between 4-6 PM to avoid conflict with Fall Soccer which happens on Saturdays. Games will be one hour, starting on the hour. Practice length and time will be at the coaches discretion.

Registration: Jan 1-July 5

Season: Aug 13-Sept 19

Fee: $40

CLASSES

CHESS CLUB

The Lindon Community Chess Club will be held every Wednesday evening from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Lindon Community Center and is FREE! There will be an hour of instruction and two hours of game play. First time? No problem! Come learn how to play chess or improve your skill with others. All ages are welcome. Bring your friends and come enjoy and evening of chess!

EVENTS

CHESS BLITZ TOURNAMENT

Come join Lindon Parks and Rec for a Chess Blitz Tournament! The blitz tournament will be fast moving, lots of fun, and free for all!! You do not need to be a pro to play and there will be prizes for each division. All skill levels are accepted and no registration needed! Age groups will be Under 12, 13-17, and 18+ years old. Head to LindonRecreation.org/events for the rules and get ready to play Blitz Chess! Tournament will be on Wednesday, Feb 7 at 6:00 PM at the Lindon Community Center.

ROARING 20’s THROWBACK

In celebration of Lindon’s Centennial Anniversary, we are taking it back to the Roaring 20’s! Join us for a “throwback in time” with our sponsor Wadley Farms! There will be dancing, music, treats, activities, prizes, and much more! Come dressed in your best throwback outfit and get ready to party at The Castle!

CENTENNIAL

CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS

This year, Lindon City celebrates its 100th year as a city! There will be MANY fun events and programs to participate in throughout the year as we celebrate our centennial celebration! Make sure you follow LindonRecreation.org/centennial for all the programs and events. You can also text “100” to 801-769-8625 to get updates on all the Centennial events and activities happening this year.

CENTENNIAL PROCLAMATION

As a part of our centennial celebrations, the Lindon City Mayor and Council will read in a Centennial Proclamation declaring every Mar 24 to be “Lindon Day” and to celebrate our 100th year as a city! Join us to hear the reading of the proclamation at the City Council Meeting on Mar 18 at 5:15 PM or stream it live on YouTube.

DOWDLE PUZZLE UNVEILING

Lindon City is getting its very own DOWDLE PUZZLE! Eric Dowdle himself will help unveil this commemorative puzzle at the Community Center. Join us on Mar 25 at the Lindon Community Center to see what our puzzle will look like and to celebrate Lindon. The events will start at ???? time. Puzzles will be available for purchase at the event or the front desk of the Community Center. Pre-purchase your puzzle at LindonRecreation.org/ centennial.

CENTENNIAL TREE PLANTING

In preparation of Lindon’s 100-year centennial celebration in 2024, the Lindon City Mayor and Council members have issued a challenge to see if the city can plant 1,000 new trees or woody shrubs staring in March of 2023 until October 2024. Trees planted on private and public property count towards this goal. Go to LindonRecreation.org/trees or scan the QR code to report your tree planting today!

EVERY DAY STRONG RESILIENCE TRAINING

There’s one main thing that a kid needs to thrive: the presence of just once caring adult. EveryDay Strong is here to show you how you can be that caring adult, whether you are the parent, neighbor, teacher, or friend. TABLE TALKS: BODY IMAGE AND TEEN IDENTITY

Join Allan Pauole as he discuses Body Image and Teen Identity. Allan has been a licensed clinical mental health counselor for over 15 years with extensive training and a strong interest in working with teens and collage age adults.
