The project is a new urban re- and up-cycling center for e-waste on the site of the existing Apple Store in the heart of downtown San Francisco’s Union Square. The Apple Store is perhaps one of the most potent symbols of capitalistic consumerism, the culture of planned obsolescence, throw-away culture and the aesthetics of desire.The thesis exploration imagines taking over this iconic space urban space by reimagining it as a new typology of civic building, one more honest about the economic, cultural, and environmental mechanisms that make it function. This research proposes that this new typology of civic infrastructural buildings can help to resist the too easy “out-of-sight and out-of-mind” mentality. It is critical the buildings that sustain our consumerism begin to also reveal that infrastructure that creates it as critical components of our downtowns and urban landscapes.

The Dixie fae in 2021 which destroyed the town of Greenville is a recent example of one such catastrophe in a WUI zone. What to do in the aftermath of such disasters is aquestion we as a society are just beginning to face, a question we will have to face more and more in the coming years as climate driven disasters become the norm. Can a different approach to rebuilding offer a better future to these affected communities?

As a design team we found a sense of tenderness by designing precious moment of connection. The preciousness of the architec­ ture is embodied in the programing. This includes a commercial space, winter garden/atrium, communal kitchen, and four residential units. The harmonic song between the social interac­ tions of each space create opportunities for the community to laugh, rest, eat, exchange, and gather in ways that feel good for themselves. Precious moments is a beacon of light in the community and a place that will once again hold lasting memories for generations to come.

RED LADIES Missile Silos - Military Infrastructure and the American West| CCA Advanced Studio Spring 2022 This is in Seattle,Washington State and the U.S. government has made a significant decision to deploy missile silos throughout the country for safety purposes.The construction of these silos has employed many individuals, and now there is a need to decommission them and redistribute the land.The Missiles are sinister because they are deathly, they could cause a lot of death and destruction.

The sinister, evil experience cloaked in the idea that is a retreat. The retreat means the idea of this space, waking up from the sinister. The missiles themselves are portrayed as sinister due to their destructive capabilities, which could cause death and destruction. The concept of the retreat, which represents the idea of finding solace or escape from this sinister experience.
