Dear Traveler,

I’m thrilled to welcome you to Lindblad Expeditions, the world’s longest-operating expedition cruise company. When my father, Lars-Eric Lindblad, led the first expedition to Antarctica for private citizens in 1967, he voyaged with a clear purpose: to help people deepen their connections to our wild planet. Since that inaugural journey, we have grown our portfolio to include more than 110 itineraries across all seven continents—and yet, our original mission still guides us. Every expedition is designed to fully immerse you in your destination.

You might be wondering what immersive travel means to us. To start, it means venturing to the absolute wildest places on Earth—legendary destinations like the Galápagos Islands and Alaska, as well as little-known shores and isles. It means building our vessels to be small and nimble, so that we can sail deeper into wilderness and disembark quickly for wildlife sightings. It means celebrating your destination on board through fi ne food, regional artwork, and local music. And it means partnering with pioneers like National Geographic, so that you can travel with their brilliant photographers and modern-day explorers. Above all, immersive travel means putting you—our guest—at the center of your experience. Discovery looks different to everyone, and we want you to

explore at your own pace and through the lens that interests you, whether that is wildlife, photography, history, or whatever else moves you to travel.

We have honed our approach to expedition cruising over 50 years so that you can have the most transformative experience possible aboard the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fl eet. And we continue to strive to perfect that approach. Sustainable initiatives are central to these efforts—together with our guests, we have invested nearly $20 million in conservation projects in the places we explore.

We know you have a choice of travel operators, and we hope you choose to explore with us—to forge a deeper relationship with our world alongside a like-minded community of passionate explorers.

I hope you choose to join us out there soon.

Sincerely,

3

Experience Authentic & Immersive Exploration

National Geographic built their century-long legacy by bringing the world into people’s homes. For almost 20 years, Lindblad Expeditions has partnered with this iconic organization, bringing people into the world’s wildest corners to live the stories of National Geographic.

Ships Equipped for Genuine Exploration

Our expedition ships bear the National Geographic name because they are equipped for genuine exploration. Stocked with tools like remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and hydrophones, these expedition vessels enhance undersea and onshore discovery for our guests— and for the explorers and researchers who join select departures. Our small ships are outfitted with a fleet of kayaks, paddleboards, and Zodiacs for up-close exploration at water level.

Travel with National Geographic Photography Experts

Behind every National Geographic photograph is a dauntless photographer who has spent decades traveling the globe, capturing the world’s most iconic and impactful images. These National Geographic Photography Experts join select expeditions to help travelers hone their camera skills in captivating places from Alaska to Antarctica.

TEST & LEARN: Every expedition is accompanied by a Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic certified photo instructor, trained by the pros at National Geographic. On select ships, travelers also have access to a complimentary OM System Photo Gear Locker, stocked with lenses, camera bodies, and other equipment that you can test in the field.

Pioneering Responsible Travel

Lindblad Expeditions was founded on the belief that travel can be a powerful force for good, and that belief is reflected in everything we do. When you choose Lindblad Expeditions, you can travel with peace of mind, knowing that green practices are embedded into our everyday operations and that each voyage gives back to protect the natural and cultural heritage of the places we visit. Here’s how we are setting the standard for responsible travel in expedition cruising and beyond.

Clean and Efficient Ships

Our ships use the cleanest fuel available in the remote places we operate, and our newer vessels are equipped with emerging technologies that optimize efficiency— like positioning systems that reduce fuel consumption by up to 10% and a patented X-Bow®, which reduces power demands by up to 8%. Across the fleet, itineraries are purposefully designed to minimize fuel usage, while still providing an incredible travel experience.

100% Carbon Neutral

In 2019, we achieved complete carbon neutrality, offsetting 100% of the emissions from our fleet, employee travel worldwide, our offices in New York and Seattle, all land-based operations, and other measurable sources.

Fresh Food with Local Roots

Lindblad Expeditions is committed to buying locally grown food and sustainably caught seafood, and to offering vegetarian and vegan meal options across the fleet. We pioneered groundbreaking farm-to-table food programs in places like Galápagos, where we source 30 to 40 tons of local produce annually.

SUSTAINABILITY

Protecting the World’s Oceans

The Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic Fund was established in 2008 to support global conservation initiatives. To date, the fund has contributed nearly $20 million to projects aimed at preserving the world’s oceans, restoring critical marine and coastal habitats, and fostering environmental stewardship.

Artisan Fund

Launched in 2007, this unique program empowers artisan communities by offering training programs, supplying workspaces and equipment, and issuing grants to support artisan projects. Artisan goods are offered in our Global Galleries and Global Markets fleetwide, and 5% of sales are directed to the fund.

Science at Sea

The Visiting Scientist Program, hosted aboard the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet, invites researchers, conservationists, and National Geographic Explorers to conduct critical field-based projects. Guests traveling with Visiting Scientists are treated to talks on their studies and discoveries and are, on occasion, invited to participate in the scientific process.

An Essential Guide to Expedition Cruising

Expedition cruises are driven by the desire to explore wild and fascinating places in depth while enjoying a world-class experience on board. Here, we answer common questions about expedition cruising for the first-time Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic traveler.

Zodiac boats are integral to the expedition experience, allowing us to explore at water level and access each destination’s most secluded corners —such as remote polar beaches populated by penguins, ancient coastal sea caves, or narrow inlets where whalesswimandbearsfish.

WHAT TO EXPECT
8

What is an expedition cruise, and how is it different from a traditional cruise?

A traditional cruise follows a schedule with pre-set excursions. Instead of focusing on the world outside, the ship serves as a floating resort, emphasizing the vacation life on board.

An expedition cruise takes place on a small ship designed to navigate hard-to-reach places, yet prioritizes comfort and well-being. Guests are immersed in their destination through hands-on exploration, learning about flora and fauna, geology and culture from a dynamic onboard expedition team. The voyage is driven by discovery, with the captain and expedition team members working together to find the most exciting opportunities presented by nature.

Where do expedition cruises sail?

Just about anywhere deep and wide enough to navigate, and far from busy ports and piers—that means narrow Chilean fjords, small Mediterranean harbors, Greenland’s icy waters, and beyond. With nimble ships and highly seasoned crews, we can seek out lesser-visited shores so that your experience is authentic and personal.

How do you explore on an expedition cruise?

What does a typical day look like?

One of the beauties of an expedition cruise is the freedom to explore your way. There are typically several opportunities for shore or water-based excursions each day. You might start your morning with a Zodiac or kayak outing. After lunch, you could go for a hike or a guided tour of an historic site, or simply watch for wildlife on deck. During the evening Recap, your expedition team will highlight exciting discoveries so you can learn even more about what you saw that day.

Who are your guides on an expedition cruise?

Expedition teams are made up of world-class naturalists, photographers, cultural experts, undersea specialists, and others who give context to the places you explore. Each team is curated for the voyage so that you get in-depth perspectives from veteran guides and people who come from your destination.

What types of travelers would enjoy an expedition cruise?

Anyone who travels to experience and learn through engaging activities. With daily adventures that are fun for both kids and adults, families are a natural fit. Solo travelers will find a like-minded and welcoming community on board, and guests of all ages can opt for low-impact activities and enjoy a rewarding experience.

Life on Board

Each ship in our fleet is a destination in its own right, featuring superior amenities and cultural experiences to ensure that your time on board is equally rewarding as your time on shore. Connect with the places you explore through culinary delights, performances by local musicians, soothing spa treatments, and more.

YOUR HOME AT SEA
Dish prepared by National Geographic Orion Chef Mikael Sjöberg in Indonesia.

Savor the Flavors of Your Destination

We take great care to bring the flavors of your destination to the meals you enjoy on board, whether it’s freshly caught fish in French Polynesia or udon in Japan. Special excursions, like a visit to a floating market on the Mekong and a private lunch in an 18thcentury Sicilian castle, invite guests to forge even deeper connections with local culinary traditions.

Indulge in Our Wellness Program

Greet the day with a sunrise yoga session or unwind in the spa with a restorative massage. Dedicated wellness spaces—including treatment rooms, saunas, fitness centers, and more—invite you to tap into the soothing oceanic rhythms. Treatments are tailored to each guest and incorporate natural ingredients from the surrounding lands and waters.

Moving Musical Experiences

Ethnomusicologist Jacob Edgar curates onboard musical experiences so that your time at sea is accompanied by melodies reminiscent of your ports of call. For select voyages, Jacob has arranged performances by local musicians, whose songs bring rich regional traditions to life. Watch Jacob Edgar describe our immersive music program at expeditions.com/music.

The Art of Expedition Travel

Ship interiors tell the stories of your destinations through local artwork and décor, infusing each vessel with an authentic sense of place. Our newest polar vessels host the first-ever ship-based exhibitions of visual and auditory works, created to express the fragile beauty of the polar regions. To learn more, visit expeditions.com/art.

11
Celebrate Your Next Milestone with Special Savings When you travel in a group of eight or more guests on a special occasion, you receive 5% off your booking, a credit to use at the ship spa or Global Gallery, and other special surprises.

Inclusions Curated for Incomparable Value

In our pursuit of delivering the most enriching and exceptional voyages, we design our suite of inclusions to foster a complete expedition experience, providing everything you need to explore your destination to the fullest, and eliminating the unnecessary.

Ship-Based Amenities

Take full advantage of a variety of amenities and wellness opportunities, from saunas and glass-enclosed fitness studios, to libraries stocked with regional literature. Select ships in our fleet are outfitted with other state-of-the-art features, such as infinity hot tubs and geodesic igloos.

Onboard Enrichment and Exploration

We provide a host of enriching onboard experiences to help you learn even more about the places you explore. All educational opportunities, including compelling lectures from our guest speakers and the kids programming in our National Geographic Global Explorers program, are complimentary.

Unlimited Activities and Excursions

Activities and excursions are always included in the price of your voyage, and you can take advantage of as many experiences as your itinerary and time allow. Snorkel multiple coral reefs in one day, paddle amid icebergs on an exclusive kayaking excursion, and capture incredible images with help from one of the world’s top photographers.
