KaitlynGroth,NicoleHinesandChristianaUssery,membersoftheLindaleHighSchool WindEnsemble,willperformwiththeTexas4AAll-StateBandinSanAntonio,Saturday, February11,2023.GracieDay,SarahKramer,andElijahMcGuire,membersoftheLindale HighSchoolChoralewillalsoperformwiththeTexasAll-StateSmallSchoolMixedChoir,at theHenryB.GonzálezConventionCenteraspartofthe2023TexasMusicEducators AssociationClinic/Convention.

All-StateisthehighesthonoraTexasmusicstudentcanreceive.1,875studentsare selectedthroughaprocessthatbeganwithover70,000studentsfromaroundthestatevyingfor thishonortoperforminoneof18ensembles.These6studentswerechosenforthisprestigious honorthroughacompetitiveprocessheldthisyearacrossthestateatDistrict,Region,andArea levels.

GrothandHinesarefluteplayersandUsseryplaysBbandAltoClarinetatLindaleHigh SchoolunderthedirectionofStevenMoore,SusanScott,WestonFisherandNickKelley,who aremembersoftheTexasMusicEducatorsAssociation,a14,000+memberorganization

headquarteredinAustin.ThisisGroth’sandHines’secondtimeandUssery’sthirdtimeto performasamemberofaTMEAAll-Stateorganization.

Day,Kramer,andMcGuiresingunderthedirectionof KerryBahamandHannah ShermanwhoarealsomembersoftheTexasMusicEducatorsAssociation.Thisisthestudents’ firsttimetoperformasamemberofaTMEAAll-Stateorganization.

HighschoolstudentsselectedtoperformintheAll-Stateconcertshavecompetedthrough auditionstoqualifyatthestatelevel.TexasMusicEducatorsAssociationsponsorstheTexas All-Statecompetition.Thiscompetitiveprocessbeginsthroughoutthestateinauditionshosted by33TMEARegions.Individualmusiciansperformselectedmusicforapanelofjudgeswho rankeachinstrumentorvoicepart.Fromthisranking,aselectgroupofmusiciansadvancesfrom theirRegiontocompeteagainstmusiciansfromotherareasinfiveATSSBAreacompetitions. Thehighest-rankingmusiciansjudgedattheTMEAAreacompetitionsqualifytoperformina TMEA/ATSSB4AAll-Statemusicgroup.Onlythetop2.6%ofmusicianswhoinitiallyaudition becomeAll-Statemusicians.
