The wonderful reputation of Lindale ISD is well known across the State and throughout East Texas. The Lindale community is known for its strong support of their schools which are rich in local heritage, tradition, and embody a strong value system. The citizens of Lindale wholeheartedly support the school system because they believe Lindale is a great place to live, to work, and to raise a family. The community makes every effort to keep all of the district’s six campuses up-to-date in technology, curriculum, facilities, and educational services. The Lindale Independent School District encompasses 184 square miles in the northern part of Smith County where it serves Lindale as well as the communities of Carroll, Mt. Sylvan, Swan, and Hide-A-Way Lake. This 2015-2016 annual report is designed to highlight district information, facts, and the success of Lindale ISD which has served students and families for the past 100 years.

Lindale high school earned FIVE distinctions for high scores on STAAR testing performance Lindale ISD is one of 425 school districts in the U.S. and Canada being honored by the College Board with placement on the 6th Annual AP® District Honor Roll for increasing access to AP course work while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams. Reaching these goals indicates that a district is successfully identifying motivated, academically prepared students who are ready for the opportunity of AP. To be included on the 6th Annual Honor Roll, Lindale ISD had to, since 2013, increase the number of students participating in AP while also increasing or maintaining the number of students earning AP Exam scores of 3 or higher.

2015-2016 Early Childhood Center Expansion:
The $2.4 million expansion features a cafeteria expansion, refurbishing the music room and turning the previous gymnasium into classrooms.
Expansion plans for ECC have been on the drawing board since district voters approved a two-part, $42 million bond package in November 2009.
The most important part of the current expansion, especially to the taxpayer, is that the district is paying for it in cash and does not have to raise taxes due to an estimated $10 million fund balance.
Nearly 10,000 square feet will be added to ECC.
More than 7,000 square feet will be dedicated to the new gymnasium.
The expanded cafeteria will be 1,800 square feet and the new music room will be approximately 1,200 square feet.
With the expansion, ECC will be viable for the next 40 plus years and the expanded cafeteria will take care of district needs for the next 15 years.
“The district is growing at such a rate that we will certainly need more campuses in the future,” said LISD Superintendent Stan Surratt. “A 9th grade wing may be an option at the high school in the near future.”

Lindale offers a full day Pre-K program for qualifying four year old students. Every Pre-K class has a certified teacher and teaching assistant.
Lindale ISD serves over 3,000 meals daily.
Lindale High School offers more than 73 different vocational classes.
Lindale ISD has placed more than 2,000 iPads in classrooms. Every Jr. High student was issued an iPad to enhance student engagement and improve instruction. By 2017 every student in grades 6-12 will be issued an iPad or similar device to enhance their educational experience.
Every campus and the district earned the highest possible accountability rating given by the Texas Education Agency. Lindale Jr. High not only earned the highest possible rating but also was one of the less than 2% of the districts state to receive 7 out of 7 distinctions.
The Lindale ISD Education Foundation has awarded more than $210,339.54 in classroom grants for innovative learning activities since 2009.
Lindale ISD staff members have given more than $150,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors in the last eight years.
Lindale High School Band has earned their 41st consecutive First Division rating at UIL Marching Contest.
Lindale ISD Board of Trustees have cut the tax rate three times in the last five years.
Lindale ISD is funded below the state average in terms of funding per student.
The Lindale Lady Eagles have won five consecutive District Championships in volleyball.
The Middle School Matters Institute, an initiative of the George W. Bush Institute, named Lindale Junior High a Showcase School for the middle school program at the 2014 Middle School Matters Institute Summer Conference. The Lindale Junior High campus was one of only three schools honored in the nation.
Lindale ISD buses over 1,700 students daily to and from home.
Lindale High School has won the State Championship in journalism nine out the past thirteen years.
Lindale ISD has received a perfect score on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for four consecutive years.
Over 50 students participate in the Backpack Program, a program in which LISD sends food in a backpack home on Fridays so these children will not go hungry on the weekend.
More than 800 students participate in Lindale Athletics.
