The driving dynamics of the vehicle was of a comfortable companion, the 3 cylinder 95 bhp engine was more than sufficient for the diminutive Polo, a 0-60 in 10.8 seconds and a top speed of 116 mph shows the little engine Polo is no slouch.

The driver has assistance in abundance, you will appreciate the parking sensors both front and rear, the dynamic roadside display system and the hill hold function is a very useful piece of equipment, the stop/start function was a willing companion at all times.

Safety has not been compromised at all, there is an Isofix fitting for the child seat on the 2 rear car seats and also the front passenger seat. There is a plethora of air bags inside, to include curtain air bags, centre air bags, front seat, side impact air bags, the safety features are extensive. To drive the vehicle is one of ease, you settle in behind the wheel, adjustability is good for the seat and steering column and even rear passengers won’t complain about the amount of space, if you are like me at 6ft they are generous. I also found access to the rear of the vehicle quite useful and easy.

Without doubt Volkswagen with this latest generation of the Polo have once again ticked all the boxes.

The basic on the road price of my derivative was £21,890, but with the odd options that Volkswagen included it brought the price to £23,800. Volkswagen give a 3-year or 60,000 miles warranty, which includes 3-year paint and 12-year anti-rot protection, and 1-Year Volkswagen Assist is available.
