Board of Curators

More than 157 years ago, as the Civil War approached its certain end, the seed of a dream began to take root among the men of the 62nd and 65th United States Colored Infantries and their white officers. The veterans turned their dream into reality when they raised enough money to found Lincoln University in 1866 for the benefit of freed African Americans Their generous gift created a pathway to higher education for thousands of proud Lincoln alumni. Today, the soldiers’ dream and Lincoln University’s mission lives on, as we celebrate the next chapter of our university’s leadership with the investiture of Dr. John B. Moseley as Lincoln’s 21st president. Yesterday, today, and in the years to come, a common thread stays and will remain strong. At Lincoln, we find power in rising together.
