CRITERIA FOR AWARDS

Agriculture, Environmental and Human Sciences

Academic Excellence Award: Three or more full-time semesters at Lincoln University, including current and immediately preceding semester, at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and at least a 3.2 GPA in the major. Complete eight (8) or more hours in the major.

Scholastic Achievement Award: Three semesters at Lincoln University with at least a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and at least 3.5 in one of the department’s five emphasis areas, seventy (70) hours towards degree and sixteen (16) or more hours completed towards the major. Complete eight (8) or more hours in the major.

Business

Academic Achievement in Business: Full-time student, with a minimum 3.2-3.499 cumulative GPA and a minimum of sixty (60) hours completed at Lincoln University.

Academic Excellence in Business: Full–time student, with a minimum 3.5-4.00 cumulative GPA and a minimum of sixty (60) hours completed at Lincoln University.

Academic Achievement Award: Three (3) or more full-time semesters at LU including current and immediately preceding semesters, satisfactorily completed at least seventy (70) hours towards a Bachelor’s degree and at least fifteen (15) hours in courses required for a major in one of the programs of this department. Earned a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA in these required major courses.

Associate Academic Achievement Award: Satisfactorily completed at least thirty (30) hours towards an Associate degree in one of the programs of this department. (This includes required courses, if any, that are taught in another department). Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 in these required major courses.

A.A. Kildare Award: At least 3.2 GPA; outstanding achievement in a physical science- physics or chemistry.

Scholastic Excellence Award: Three (3) or more full-time semesters at LU including current and immediately preceding semesters, satisfactorily completed at least seventy (70) hours towards a Bachelors degree and at least fifteen (15) hours in courses that are required for a major in one of the programs of this department. Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 in these required major courses.

Education

Academic Achievement Award in Education or Wellness: Full-time status during the academic year the award is conferred, Education major, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 to 3.4.

Academic Excellence Award in Education or Wellness: Full-time status during the academic year the award is conferred, Education or Wellness major, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 to 4.00.

Honors Program

Lincoln University Honors Award: Awarded to students of full-time status who have earned a 3.2 cumulative GPA and are a member in good standing.

Humanities and Communications

Academic Excellence Award: Three (3) or more full-time semesters at Lincoln University including current and immediately preceding semesters, at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and at least a 3.2 GPA in the major, minimum of eight (8) hours completed towards the major.

Cecil A. Blue Award: Excellence in creative writing, a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.

Distinguished English Graduate: The recipient must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better and demonstrated achievement in extra-curricular/professional activities, leadership and character. The award requires a recommendation by three (3) members of the English faculty.

English Achievement Award: Awarded to an English major in the second semester of his or her junior year. A high demonstration of consistent effort and significant improvement in performance especially in critical thinking and writing. The student must have completed a minimum of eighteen (18) hours in upper-level English courses with a GPA of 3.3 or better in those courses, a well as a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better in all course work.

Holman-Teabeau-Blue Award: This award goes to an English major in the first half of his or her major program and recognizes exceptional promise in that student. The recipient must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.2.

Mark Nordstrom Journalism Award: Awarded to a student majoring in journalism who has completed a minimum of eighteen (18) hours in journalism courses with a GPA of at least 3.2 in these courses, as well as a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better in all courses. The student must demonstrate a commitment to media convergence.

Outstanding Academic Performance: At least a 3.2 Cumulative GPA, enrolled full-time during the academic year, 30+ hours at Lincoln University.

Scholastic Achievement: Three (3) or more full time semesters at Lincoln University including current and immediately preceding semesters, at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and at least a 3.5 GPA in one of the department’s major areas, minimum of seventy (70) hours towards degree completion, minimum of sixteen (16) hours completed towards the major.

Institutional Certificates for Academic Excellence

Students who have a cumulative GPA of 4.00 at Lincoln University (transfer credit is not included in this calculation)

Nursing

BSN Achievement Award: Cumulative GPA of 3.2; full-time student; enrolled in at least their first clinical nursing course.

St. Mary’s Hospital Student Scholarship Award: The Sister Mary Jean Ryan, Lincoln University Nursing Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student enrolled in a nursing class in the Department of Nursing Science at Lincoln University. The student’s permanent residence must be in Cole, Osage, Miller, Moniteau, Callaway, Gasconade, Maries, Camden, or Morgan County.

The student should be in good standing academically (hold a minimum of a 3.2 GPA or above, on a 4.0 GPA scale, or an equivalent rating on a comparative GPA scale) and exemplify the St. Mary’s values of compassion, respect, excellence, stewardship, and community. The student must have completed 30 or more hours in the Lincoln University Nursing Science Program.

Social and Behavioral Sciences

Academic Achievement Award in Social and Behavioral Sciences: Maintain at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, be enrolled full-time for the current and 2 preceding semesters, and completed at least 30 credit hours at Lincoln University.

Academic Excellence Award in Social and Behavioral Sciences: Maintain at least a 3.8 cumulative GPA, be enrolled full-time for the current and 2 preceding semesters, and completed at least 45 credit hours at Lincoln University.

The Viola M. Smith Academic Achievement Award in Political Science: Maintain at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, be enrolled full-time for the current and two preceding semesters, and have completed 30+ hours at Lincoln University and is a Viola M. Smith Scholarship recipient.

CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

The 62nd & 65th Regiments Legacy Foundation, Inc: Must be enrolled full-time, have a GPA between 2.0-4.0, submit a 500-word essay, submit three recommendation letters, complete the FAFSA and submit the FERPA.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc: Full-time sophomore or junior, minimum GPA of at least 3.2, living on campus preferable, but not mandatory, and returning the following fall semester.

Alpha Phi Alpha Freshman Male Award: First-time, full-time student for fall 2021, a male residing on campus, must have earned no less than a 3.2 GPA and currently enrolled as a full-time student for spring 2022.

Alpha Phi Alpha Undergraduate Member Award: Current member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Alpha Psi Chapter with the highest grade point average above 3.2 as of the end of fall 2021 semester.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Jefferson City Alumnae Chapter Scholarship: Applicant must have at least 24 college credits, have a 3.2 GPA on 4.0 scale, submit a copy of official transcripts, submit a 750-1000 word essay on “How the Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship will help further my career goals.”

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Eta Alpha Chapter-Luther HatcherLucius Jones Scholarship: Student must have a 3.2 or above GPA.

Dr. James H. Seeney and Mrs. Ardis (Fox) Seeney Memorial Scholarship: Minimum 3.2 GPA. A graduate student majoring in Education. This individual must be an excellent student, who has achieved academic success, and is a person of high character, initiative and integrity.

Capital Region Medical Center Scholarship: Candidate must be a resident of Missouri and live within fifty (50) miles, must have a 2.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale in their nursing course, have the standing of a junior, having completed a minimum of sixty-two (62) hours toward the nursing degree and must be enrolled in at least ten (10) credit hours each of the last four (4) semesters.

Herman T. Miller Scholarship: Chemistry major with at least a 3.2 GPA and complete sixteen (16) hours in Chemistry.

Joanne Burrell Memorial Scholarship: Awarded annually to an undergraduate creative writing student at Lincoln University whose academic record and sophistication demonstrate diverse interests and a dedication to the humanities. Strong preference is given to candidates with financial need. Minimum GPA 2.5. Scholarship Value $200.

Lock-Heinen Scholarship in English: Applicants must have completed at least forty-five (45) hours toward a degree at the time of application. They must have completed nine (9) hours in English beyond the general education requirements, and they must have a GPA of at least 3.5 in these courses. The applicant’s cumulative GPA must be at least a 3.2

Lock-Heinen Scholarship in Journalism: Applicants must have completed forty-five (45) hours toward the degree, nine (9) upper division credits in Journalism with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better.

Sister Mary Jean Ryan,

Lincoln University

Nursing Scholarship: The Sister Mary Jean Ryan, Lincoln University Nursing Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student enrolled in a nursing class in the Department of Nursing Science at Lincoln University. The student’s permanent residence must be in Cole, Osage, Miller, Moniteau, Callaway, Gasconade, Maries, Camden, or Morgan County. The student should be in good standing academically (hold a minimum of a 3.2 GPA or above, on a 4.0 GPA scale, or an equivalent rating on a comparative GPA scale) and exemplify the St. Mary’s values of compassion, respect, excellence, stewardship, and community. The student must have completed 30 or more hours in the Lincoln University Nursing Science Program.

Willis E. Byrd Scholarship: Science major who has completed at least sixty (60) hours with a minimum GPA of 3.2 and who reflects initiative, industry and the promise of continuing growth.
