About Me I am a senior at Bay High and Southeast. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing stories. Bay High has given me an amazing opportunity to do just that.

One of my biggest passions is dance. I study ballet, tap, contemporary, hiphop, and jazz at my studio. I am also an assistant teacher for young dancers.

I enjoy all kinds of music but you’ll often find me listening to Lorde, Hozier, $uicideboy$, and Eminem. Both dance and music are universal languages.

They bring all kinds of people together.

My favorite hobbies are painting and drawing. To the left and below are a few of my recent art projects.

After high school, I plan to attend college at University of Nebraska Omaha. Although going in undecided, I’m interested in sociology, marketing, the arts, and technology. Any one of these degrees, will help me secure a rewarding job which allows me to express my creativity. While in college, I would like to continue working as a barista for a local coffee shop.

Goals & Plans My dream job is to be an interior designer, a tattoo artist, and a mom. I hope to travel the world before I settle into jobs that demand more of my time. I hope to continue to dance and create art, improving my photography, painting, and drawing skills.

I will also adopt a Whippet and name him Doug.

WEB DESIGN At the beginning of Web Design & Programming, we were instructed to write about how we felt about AI and coding. I was hesitant and worried about the consequences of creating a society dependent on this kind of technology. I didn’t understand AI and that made me apprehensive.

Learning from guest speakers, we were able to explore all kinds of career paths in technology. Learning Creative Coding was my favorite. We coded a circle to move around a canvas. I learned how to change the size, color, shape, and boundaries. At the end of the lesson, everyone’s screen looked completely different. It’s really cool to start out with the same basic outline and turn it into so many new and unique creations.

BRANDING I enjoyed Personal Branding & Marketing. It gave me the chance to explore the things I was interested in. We created our own personal logos and edited them in Adobe Photoshop. Being my first semester at Bay High, I had no experience with any of the software. I felt like I couldn’t catch up with what everyone else had learned the year before, but I tried the best I could. In the end, I designed a simple logo that read “ROSE” (my middle name) in a gothic style font. I learned that it’s okay to not know how to do it all. I had to trust the process of growth and learning. I have so many supports at the Bay including both teachers and classmates.

Another big learning moment in this class was realizing how important networking really is. We practiced elevator pitches and paired with mentors to name just a couple of the many networking activities. I’ve learned a lot about myself in this process.

One of our first assignments was to look through lists of missions, visions, and values. We were to choose ideas and concepts that stood out to us the most. I chose boldness, beauty, and love.

We were then instructed to make a branding board. (Similar to a dream board, but about the present instead of the future.) I included pictures I thought were pretty, outfits that I liked, and my favorite places. These are some of those.

JOURNALISM When I started Bay High, I was most excited for journalism. I have always loved sharing stories and writing, so the opportunity to explore journalism was intriguing.

My favorite thing we learned was the very first lesson over the code of ethics. There were so many important rules that most people would miss. We learned about how crucial honesty is, especially in journalism.

Another favorite topic we covered was AI and Chat GPT. In a world full of computer generated everything, how do we keep up?

THE CHALLENGE...

“Dive into one of our pillars” investing in a personal project designed to stretch curiosity, support understanding, and connect with the community.

I first explored film and editing to create an experience of movement for viewers. While exploring, I experienced limitations and failures in the form of procrastination, lacking knowledge of editing software, confusion of the project, and loss of motivation.

Ultimately, I worked through these challenges and ended up with a really cool piece. I created a video highlighting my love for dance and architecture.
