Board of Directors’ Report
Don Bowden, Secretary
This month’s theme reminds me that not all of our residents are still behind the wheel of a vehicle. So, sharing information on how to get around is important.
Placer County Transit provides scheduled bus routes connecting Lincoln to nearby cities like Rocklin and Roseville. Keep Route 20 in mind as it connects Lincoln to Sierra College and Roseville with stops at the Twelve Bridges Library, Thunder Valley Casino, and the Westfield Galleria Transit Center.
The Lincoln Hills Foundation sponsors low-cost rides in conjunction with the county’s Dial-A-Ride program. This is a shared ride service within the City of Lincoln via small buses that are ADA compliant and equipped with wheelchair lifts. Reservations are required, and rides must be scheduled in advance. A 20-ride packet is just $10. Call 916-543-8436 for details.
Lincoln is a designated Neighborhood Electric
Vehicle (NEVs) city, allowing DMV-approved electric vehicles on roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less. Lincoln Hills has marked NEV and bike lanes, making it easy to reach shopping centers, restaurants, and downtown Lincoln without a traditional car.
Bicycles and golf carts are other options for getting around. Our community features dedicated lanes for bicycles and golf carts. Many residents use golf carts for short trips within the community, especially to the Orchard Creek and Kilaga Springs lodge and local stores. Reminder, all traffic laws still apply, especially those stop signs.
For those who do not drive, getting to doctors’ appointments can be challenging. Check out Roseville transit routes A, B, and 60 that serve the Sutter Health campus and routes A, B, 21, 25, and 93 that pass the Kaiser campus.
However you get around, be careful and take your time.
A Note from the Executive Director
Jessica Sedgwick, Executive Director
As I wrap up my first month as Executive Director of Sun City
Lincoln Hills, I want to express how honored and excited I am to join this vibrant and engaged community. Since starting on July 1, I have been warmly welcomed by residents, board members, and staff, and I am truly grateful for the kindness and enthusiasm I have experienced.
Lincoln Hills is known not only for its beautiful surroundings and first-class amenities but also for the spirit of connection that runs through every club, activity, and gathering. It is clear to me that this is a place where people care deeply about their community, and that is something I value immensely. I have also been impressed by the level of volunteerism, leadership, and pride that so many of you bring to daily life here, it is inspiring and energizing.
In the coming weeks and months, I will be
focused on listening, learning, and building relationships. My goal is to support the board and committees, empower our talented team, and ensure that our operations are responsive, transparent, and aligned with the needs of residents. Whether it is enhancing services, preserving what works well, or exploring new opportunities, I will approach this work with thoughtfulness, collaboration, and integrity.
I have started meeting with staff and attending committee meetings, and I look forward to connecting with more of you at events and around the community. Please feel free to stop me and introduce yourself—I would love to hear what you enjoy most about Lincoln Hills and what ideas you have for its future.
Thank you again for such a warm welcome. I am thrilled to be here and look forward to the accomplishments we will achieve together.

Summer Dreams
Greg Kevin, Chair
In the immortal words of Rod Serling, “Imagine, if you will…”. A gentile rain tapping against the kitchen window. A cloudy sky blocks the sun. The colorful leaves from the trees are being tossed about in the wind. A cool bite to the air makes you shudder and miss the hot “dog days” of August. Imagine fall is here. As we sit here in the sweltering heat of summer, the dream of fall all but seems a distant fantasy. However, I hate to interrupt this mid-summer’s dream, but Thanksgiving is only three short months away. We all know what follows: Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season! We are not trying to rush things, but rather it is time to start preparing for the change of seasons and getting our home ready for this inevitability.
While the weather is nice and as we are “getting
around” our homes and yards, now is a good time to look and plan for the change of seasons. Does my house need painting? Does my bark and landscaping need to be refreshed? What condition is my fence in? Do my trees need trimming? Do my plants need to be replaced? Is my roof in good condition? Is the exterior of my home and eaves showing signs of wear and dry rot? Now is the time to plan.
Landscape and painting contractors are now booking several months out, so now is the time to jump on those projects before the weather turns and we are longing for the warmth of summer.
Remember, an ARC application needs to be submitted and approved before any landscaping or painting can begin. As always, we are here to help. We are available at every ARC meeting to answer questions and provide consultation.
Clubs and Community Organizations Committee Walking Through the Process
George Herrmann, Chair
I saw two people playing chess in the Orchard Creek Lodge common area a couple of weeks ago. I watched for a while and eventually started chatting with them. They indicated that they were not an Association recognized club. When I asked them about forming a new club, they had no idea how to get going. I briefly explained the support the Association provides to those who want to form a new club.
While all this information is contained on the Resident Website in the Club Policies Handbook, it’s probably worth noting here. A new club should explain its purpose to the Room Booking and Club Coordinator, Stacie Grimes. She will, if appropriate, provide a meeting room in one of the lodges for three consecutive months. The first meeting should be announced in Compass. This provides an
opportunity for interested Lincoln Hills residents to attend and learn about the new club After three months, the club submits the Club Application Form, the Club Bylaws (template provided) that define how the club will operate, a list of at least two contacts with phone numbers and email addresses, along with a roster of at least twenty members.
After a preliminary review by staff, the application is sent to the CCOC for approval and then recommendation to the Board of Directors. After you have finished your walk through the process, you will be an Association recognized club.
If you are thinking about forming a new club, now is the time to begin your walk through the process. The CCOC and its members are always available to help.

Enjoying a Walk
Sherry Mosby, Chair
Ahhh…the peacefulness of walking in the cool evening air and watching the hummingbirds scurry around for some last minute nectar. But wait! That soothing walk just became hazardous because there are numerous plums lying on the sidewalk. The only way to avoid them is to take a detour onto the street. Now imagine you are using a walker or a wheelchair and cannot avoid them. Stepping on the plums or tripping on the pits can turn into an ugly situation. All homeowners are responsible for cleaning debris from their sidewalks, whether it be plums or moss growing because of a water problem. The plums dropping from fruitless (misnomer) plum trees make a very unsafe sidewalk. Call a nursery and ask if there is a spray that will prevent fruitless trees from producing fruit.
Overhanging tree branches can also be a hazard.
Properties Committee
Branches are required to be trimmed six feet up from the sidewalk to allow for a clear passage. If your bushes are encroaching onto the sidewalk, please trim them back to keep your sidewalk safe for walking. The City of Lincoln’s visibility requirement states that bushes along your driveway must be trimmed to a maximum height of 36 inches running 10 linear feet along the driveway and sidewalk. On a corner lot, your bushes at the corner must be no higher than 36 inches and run 20 linear feet along both sides, measured from the curb. The city calls these “controlled” areas.
Now you may carry on with your uninterrupted evening walk.

Lincoln Hills Homeowners Association requires each property to have one tree in the front yard that grows to at least 12 feet, is a single trunk, and has a canopy.
We Get Around to Every Nook and Cranny
Jerry
Tausend, Committee Member
Each year, the Properties Committee members are assigned to observe, evaluate, and report on the thousands of physical property items owned by the Association.
The Beach Boys sang “I Get Around” – singing about the desire for variety, energy, and discovery. That applies to our community. So, get out and explore!
Landscape is our first impression, the welcome mat to our active lifestyle. With over 25 miles of trails, thousands of mature trees and shrubs, seasonal flowers, acres of lush green grass, and shaded retreats at our 11 community parks and green spaces.
We search every nook and cranny of our trails, parks, and landscaping to observe any damaged, failing, dying, or dead landscaping and provide written reports to the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and the Facilities Department.
So yes, we get around to all of these wonderful
features we have here at Lincoln Hills that must be evaluated, cleaned, maintained, repaired, and replaced as we move beyond our 25 years. A great big “Thank You” to all who keep our community the best in Northern California, a place we truly call our home.
Our committee is proud to announce the addition of a new member, Rick Marks. Rick has lived here for a little over two years. Rick has nearly 40 years of experience working for multiple public agencies in community development, planning, economic development, building inspection, and code enforcement. Rick’s background has deeply acquainted him with the need to safely maintain commercial property and infrastructure, as well as the financial costs associated with doing so, and the financial and legal consequences of not doing so. So, if you happen to see Rick as he “gets around” inspecting our properties, please extend him a warm welcome.
Lifestyle News and Happenings
Getting Around on The Community Raft
Allison Sertic, Lifestyle Manager
I am writing this having just returned from Monterey Bay. I took my youngest, Miles, to tour the University of Monterey Bay campus. Our guide, Cesar Rodriguez, a senior and first-generation college student, spoke with pride and deep gratitude for what this University has given him. He shared that just over 8,000 students, a 27:1 student/teacher ratio, and 90% of freshmen living on campus. But what resonated most was his heartfelt statement that University is “a community that supports and cares for each other.” That hit me hard. I immediately thought of Lincoln Hills.
As we walked through the beautiful little campus, I could easily visualize Miles there, happy learning and growing to be an even better human in their psychology and sociology classes. I also pictured him working in their art studios and collaborating with others on large-scale pieces in the
public art classes. Miles is an “old soul” who has always sought out peaceful surroundings and deep connections. His kindness and curiosity are what make him shine most, and I find those same characteristics in so many people I have met in Lincoln Hills. It is another reason I feel he would thrive in a like community.
Cesar ended the tour at a sculpture of two sea otters. He said students rub the otter’s nose for good luck during finals, but more importantly, they are encouraged to rub the paw when they first arrive, “to have luck finding their raft.”
That parting piece of advice stuck with me. According to their website, California sea otters gather on the water in large social groups called rafts, often holding hands or wrapped in kelp to prevent themselves from floating away. So, the word, here, can symbolize strands of connection, keeping afloat, staying together. Here’s to our rafts.

WellFit News
Getting Around the Fitness Centers
Deborah McIlvain, Lifestyle, WellFit and Spa Director
Whether you are a new resident or the gyms are busy when you arrive, learning to navigate what to do can be intimidating or frustrating. Here are some helpful hints to make getting around a little easier. Take a tour and familiarize yourself with the layouts - locate the equipment and explore available amenities such as locker rooms and pools. Don’t be afraid to ask for help - Danielle Merrill, WellFit Program Manager, or I are always happy to assist. Fellow residents can also help you learn a new machine. If you feel that you need more guidance to understand the machines and proper form, I suggest reaching out to one of our personal trainers. Go during offpeak hours - if a crowded gym makes you anxious, try visiting during less busy times, which is usually midafternoon or after 6:00 PM. Be flexible with your routine - if your preferred equipment is in use, be
prepared to adapt your workout and try alternative exercises or machines that target the same muscle group. Plan your workout - knowing what exercises you want to do, and their alternatives, can save you time and reduce stress. Consider group classes or small group training - group classes provide a structured workout in a social setting. Small group training does the same, but in even smaller groups where you will get more one-on-one instruction. Gym etiquette - respect personal space, wipe down equipment after use, re-rack weights, and refrain from hogging equipment. Always be mindful of noise such as talking on your cell phone. Please take calls outside, and listen to your music with earbuds. By understanding and using these tips and etiquette rules, you can feel more confident and comfortable navigating the gym and making the most of your workout.
From Maps to Apps –Directions for Getting Around
Linda Lucchetti, Roving Reporter
It’s the peak of summer when families are taking to the highways and byways. It’s also a peak time to reminisce about road trips gone by and chuckle at those gone awry.
Remember Dad, the driver? His route-finding abilities were surpassed only by the notion that men don’t like to ask for directions. Out of desperation and a fear that he and the family could be lost forever, he’d announce, “We need to stop at the gas station for directions.”
What about those oversized, perfectly pleated maps, stored in the car to help facilitate getting around? Often haphazardly refolded, they were stuffed into the glove box so that the compartment could barely shut. Some maps might be stained with coffee or soda. (Is this Route 66 or just residue from a plastic cup?) or stuck together by spent chewing gum.
There was the trip navigator, usually an older relative, often found in the front passenger seat with the car windows rolled down, only to experience a map blown in the face while trying to decipher directions.
A series of missteps like these generally played out amid a chorus of four little words: “Are we there yet?”
Today, road trips run smoother largely because of the ways we get directions. We’ve gone from
ancient sailors depending on the position of stars to modern GPS (Global Positioning Systems). We’ve traded in those clumsy, multi-fold maps for hi-tech navigational apps and tools found on dashboards and smartphones, providing helpful driving, biking, and walking directions that streamline the process of getting around.
For decades, most modernday vehicles have been built with embedded navigational systems that provide useful directions and handy traffic updates. Drivers keep their favorite apps on their phones, like Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps, and MapQuest. Many apps are free, user-friendly, and reliable, not only delivering directions but also displaying real-time traffic alerts.
Don’t forget safety. Don’t be distracted. Whether you’re getting around in your car or golf cart, keep in mind the cell phone usage laws when behind the wheel; consider installing a hands-free phone holder in your vehicle. If walking while using a phone, watch your step.
Lastly, if you are one of the few travelers who haven’t yet surrendered the paper map, here’s a word to the wise: Don’t unfold a map if you’re out in a windstorm. The directions will blow you away.
Directions are all over the map
Modern apps keep us on track
Don’t be blown off the map
Getting Around a la Cart
David Wright, Roving Reporter
What better way is there to get around Lincoln Hills than in a golf cart? With dedicated lanes on major streets and reserved parking spaces at our facilities, our golf cart-friendly community encourages residents to use their four-wheeled pods to attend functions, visit friends, and participate in parades. However, if you wish
to drive one, you need to be aware of the laws.
Meet Marty Menace. Ever since his driver’s license got revoked, Marty has been zipping around by golf cart. Now he feels he can travel carte blanche, no seatbelts, no insurance, no rules, and no worries. To get where he is going faster, he just cuts across the golf course. Forget about those reserved golf cart parking spaces at our facilities. He merely jumps over the sidewalk and parks it on the lawn. When he is too drunk to walk home from his favorite watering hole, Marty and his five drinking buddies pile into his golf cart. Surely, he can’t get carted off for DUI, it’s a cart, not a car. If he needs to drive to town, he cranks up the cart tunes to drown out the
honking drivers lined up behind him. Life is swell for Marty…until one of those trailing drivers turns on the red and blue flashing lights.
Meanwhile, Suzi Safedriver knows the golf cart regulations. She gets the required inspection and permit from Lincoln Police volunteers at Orchard Creek Lodge. She has a valid driver’s license and insurance. She uses her seatbelt, follows the rules of the road, and avoids driving on the golf course unless she is playing golf. She does not allow more than one passenger, exceed 15 MPH, or drive beyond Lincoln Hills borders. When visiting our lodges, she parks in marked golf cart spaces. Suzi forgoes that “one for the road,” knowing she can get a DUI in a golf cart.
Suzi’s sister, Sadie Safedriver, also uses a golf cart to get around. Only hers is a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV). It can reach 25 MPH, is street-legal, and has current DMV registration and license plates. With help from city cartographers, Sadie is able to navigate designated NEV routes to downtown Lincoln and nearby shopping centers.
Golf carts are not just for golf anymore. They can be a fun and convenient way to get around. But if you own one, be sure to be a Safedriver; not a Menace.
Getting around is a major part of being independent, a status most people strive to maintain throughout their lives. Residents of Lincoln Hills have many options for getting around, including walking, bicycling, golf carts, neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs), and a variety of other four-wheel vehicles. Getting around for these residents is easy, until it is not. Loss of ability to drive is near the top of the list of what many people dread about aging.
This article will list a few current options for getting around in Placer County. Consider taking some informative rides on these modes of transportation just to get a feel for what might work for you if you are ever unable to drive yourself. Call the number first to obtain more detailed information than what can be provided here.
• Dial-A-Ride 916-745-7560. To schedule a pickup, it is best to call at least one day in advance. The Lincoln Hills Foundation (LHF) subsidizes Dial-A-Ride within the city of Lincoln for Lincoln Hills residents. If you are interested in obtaining a packet of 20 rides for $10, please call Pauline Watson at 916-543-8436. The standard charge for seniors
is $1.25 per pickup. If you are registered with Placer County Transit as meeting ADA criteria, special accommodations may be made for you. However, for the most part, Dial-A-Ride provides curb-to-curb pickup and drop-off
• The Placer Rides Program, (530) 889-9500, is a mileage reimbursement program offered through Seniors First (Area Council on Aging) for seniors who are unable to drive or use public transit. Eligible riders must find a licensed and insured driver to drive them for essential trips and be registered with Placer Rides. Neighbors, friends, and family members have a good volunteer opportunity here. The rider must track their mileage to request monthly mileage reimbursement from Placer Rides, and then provide the funds to their driver. Placer Rides may be able to pay for a commercial service if the driver is unavailable when needed.
• Lincoln Circulator, Placer County Transit 916-745-7560, is a fixed route transit bus. Twelve Bridges Library serves as the transfer point for Placer County Transit, providing links to other areas in Placer County.
• GoGo Grandparent 855-7552732, Ext. 89360. This number is available 24/7 to obtain a ride whenever and wherever, but it is significantly more expensive than the rides listed above.
Getting Around to Volunteering
Teresa Tanin, Neighborhood Watch
Lincoln Hills depends on its resident volunteers. Without them, services would not be the same. Association staff accommodates many of the residents’ needs; however, resident volunteers are the strength of our community. Committees, as well as entertainment, elections, the Board of Directors, and especially our community Neighborhood Watch, can only operate with the dedicated efforts of resident volunteers. Anyone not yet involved could greatly benefit from the numerous volunteer opportunities.
Neighborhood Watch is a great place to start if you have ever considered volunteering. Working with local law enforcement, Neighborhood Watch continues to promote community safety and security. Special events, in collaboration with our local police department, fire department, and the District Attorney’s office, are presented throughout the year. These events help residents understand and assist in preventing potential personal, property, and financial loss.
Updates regarding scams, driving issues, and personal safety are just a few areas addressed during these events. along with Q&A sessions. Check the “NW calendar” for upcoming events at sclhwatch.org and make plans to attend.
Be sure to attend the upcoming “Kickoff” potluck, August 16, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Multipurpose
Rooms (KS). Email NNOCoordinator@sclhwatch. org to RSVP.
Please note that Lincoln Hills’ National Night Out is scheduled for October 7. More information will follow. Thank you, Lincoln Hills Foundation, for your continued support of our safety and security efforts. We are all safer, as we attend upcoming events and perhaps get around to volunteering.
In Memoriam
Carmela Carniato
Carmela was born in Queens, New York, to Italian immigrants who taught her their culture and language. After attending Finishing School, she worked at a Wall Street legal firm for several years. She married the love of her life, Len, in 1967, and they moved to San Jose, California, where they raised their daughter, Lisa. After moving here, Carmela was active in the Italian Club, ceramics, pickleball, game groups, and “everything” at Carnelian Court, where she started the LOTC (Ladies of the Court) group. She enchanted everybody with her sparkling and giving personality. She is dearly missed by Len, Lisa, her grandchildren, and her sister, Marie (a former resident).
Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Joe and his family traveled extensively as his father was a Captain in the Marine Corps. His entire 45-year career was with AT&T. He was highly regarded for his knowledge and his integrity. Joe loved camping, fishing, jeeping, and taking cruises with his wife Diane, friends, and family. Joe was part of a Birthday group in Lincoln Hills for 20 years, getting together every month to celebrate. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he had two beautiful children, three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He will be truly missed.

Ballroom Dance
August instruction will be for the East Coast Swing, and one could ask, can a swing dance be considered a ballroom dance? In the ballroom world, there are so many different
styles that it’s tough to wrap your head around them all. The most popular ones are American Style, International Style, Latin nightclub style, and swing dances. Our Ballroom Dance Club offers American Style lessons in the Waltz, Fox Trot, Rhumba, ChaCha, Tango, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, and Night Club Two Step. Swing dances are super energetic, with lots of turns and spins for both partners. They’re a blast with quick, snappy foot and leg moves. The East Coast Swing is often danced to rock and roll or swing music.

Bird
While we’re taking the summer off from bird expeditions, if you’re going on any trips, remember that one of the neat things about birding is that you can do it pretty much wherever you are. Going to the coast or the mountains? You will have a lot of opportunities. Meanwhile, in preparation for the coming season, the club has put together a great looking schedule, and we have added some places that are new to us, as well old reliable sites like Gray Lodge Wildlife Area and others. Have you ever wondered what Santa does during the summer? It’s almost guaranteed that he’s ditched the red suit for something more breathable (perhaps fur-lined swim trunks?) and he’s possibly perfecting his surf moves while thinking about the coming holiday season. That’s where Santa and the Chorus have something in common.
We don’t mean surf moves or fur-lined Speedos (Egads!). We mean thinking about the holiday season. Plans are underway for the Chorus’ holiday concerts, scheduled for December 12, 13, and 14 in the Ballroom. Our music

What a wonderful cruise to Alaska that our club members took to escape summer heat! Thanks to great cruise organizers Jim and Deborah Christie, members, especially our “Captain” John Bibby and his wife Lori, had so much fun dancing to our favorites like Paradise Cha and Still Cruisin’ on the sea days. This marked the second time that Jim and Deborah hosted our cruise: “We just put it together and were pleased that so many members not only joined us but also volunteered to promote and do other things like music for us to dance on sea days.” So, besides our ongoing Monday dance practices, there will be more social events to come. Can’t win at Cribbage. Cribbage. Can’t win at Cribbage. I’d buy you a fancy lunch, my friend, if it makes you feel alright. I’d get you anything my friend, but I’m in an awful plight! ‘Cause I never win too much at Cribbage, no help from the game I love. Can’t win at Cribbage, everybody tells me so. Can’t win at Cribbage, no, no, no, no! Say you don’t need no lunch
today, and I’ll be satisfied. Tell me that you want the kind of things, that winning just can’t buy! I don’t win too much at Cribbage, yet Cribbage is the game I love! Recent winners are: John Gilmore, Rich McGough, John Gilmore (again!) and Hawaiian Ken Von Deylen. Tuesdays 8:30 AM Card Room (OC).
The Cultural Dance Club (Clogging, Jazz, Bollywood, “Just Dance,” Belly Dance, two hula groups, Greek Dance, and Movement Mechanics) is a large and welcoming club. Many of our groups are now preparing for the upcoming Vaudeville show and having a great time with new dance steps and formations. Our Club arranges for practice space for each of our groups as we rehearse for our next performances. Do you teach a dance that is not yet in our Club? Would you like to share it with our community? Let us know, as we would love to hear about the dance you might add to our Club. Or, would you like to join one (or more) of our dance groups? Experienced or new, we welcome you!
Lots happening in our club! We have a day destination ride in Tahoe planned for early September, a potluck in the Sports Pavilion on September 18, four days of rides in a multi-night adventure to Healdsburg in October, and our annual formal dinner in the Ballroom (OC) on October 30. Also at OC, an installation has been created for a club display case, complete with a club jersey, informational flyer, and a diorama that depicts a peaceful ride in the country. We’re looking forward to an exclusive wine and cheese event this August, led by our very own cheese sommelier, Chuck Kellner. Plus, coming soon is another popular appetizer sharing gathering, designed for over 100 members to enjoy creative bites and lively conversation. Later this year, we’ll host a sophisticated charcuterie event, delving into the art of unique food items. To join our culinary journey, contact Debbie Clawson

We kicked off summer with mild weather and great golf! A highlight was the Bev Ansbro Red, White and Blue Tournament on July 3, chaired by Sylvia Feldman in honor of Bev, who started the event 18 years ago. After a spirited round, the Blue team claimed victory! Robyn Kain (pictured below) dazzled on the course with a Net 67, earning her the crown as our June Net Chix champion. Way to go, Robyn! Our Annual

Line Dance
On Saturday, July 5, we held our first ever Saturday Dance Lab. Club members enjoyed three hours of line dancing. It was so much fun that we are planning to schedule more Saturday Labs in the future. If you enjoy line dancing and aren’t a club
member, there’s still time to join the club. The annual dues are $12. As a member, you are invited to enjoy our weekly Sunday Labs and other activities that are for members only. Remember that if you are new to line dancing, we encourage you to take a line dance class. All classes are listed in the Compass. Also, all dancers are welcome to participate in Line Dance Nights in the Ballroom (OC). Stay tuned for dates.
Come beat the heat playing with us. For those unfamiliar with the game, it’s similar to gin rummy but played with tiles. It’s easy to learn and we’re happy to teach (ask for Peter). The ideal number of players per table is four, but a table of three also works and allows us to accommodate all attendees. So, if you’re a resident and are interested in an informal and fun way to start the week, please drop into the Card Room (OC) a few minutes before 9:00 AM on Monday during our setup period. We have everything needed to play, so just come on by. Official play begins at 9:00 AM and continues until Noon. See you soon!

Movie Lovers
The discussion group led by Andy Dexter was disappointed in the movie Any Day Now. The fictionized story was based on history’s largest art theft, and we ranked it a 3.2. The Life of Chuck got a much better reception by the group led by Pam and Paul Abad. It was based on Stephen King’s novella about three chapters in the life of Charles Krantz. August 14, we discussed Finding Your Feet led by Mary Ann Frank and Lilly led by Sylvia Fox. See ya before curtain call.
We held our monthly meeting on Monday, July 7. The meeting featured the
sing-along, followed by the open mic session with twelve different performances. The open mic session provides residents an opportunity to display their musical talents in front of an audience in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Sports Car vs. Sporty Car precision-suspension, and aerodynamic features. In contrast, a Sporty Car has aggressive styling and some performance upgrades, like a sport-tuned suspension, but lacks the advanced engineering and capabilities of a true Sports Car. Sports Cars deliver superior performance and typically have low ride heights and limited cargo space, making them less practical for daily use. Sporty cars retain the practicality of their base models, offering more comfort and cargo room. Swimmers and Water Walkers
Club member Nick Covell has been swimming since the age of five, and started in the ocean off New York State. He has
been a permanent fixture at the Lincoln Hills swimming pools since 2002. His regular swimming routine was seven days a week, but as time has gone by, he has cut back to five days a week. He has used swimming, along with cutting down on his caloric intake, to maintain a healthy body weight. His recent weight loss was 50 pounds. Nick believes his exercise contributes to a healthy life and says, “I believe that the fact that I am up and walking around today, in a fairly healthy state, is in a large part due to my regular swimming activity.”
We play on seven, high-quality tables in the Multipurpose Room (KS) Sundays 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesdays 6:00 to 9:00 PM, and Fridays 8:00 AM to Noon. Tennis
Our Wimbledon Woody Social on Saturday July 12, was great fun. Twentyfour participants played in the mini Triples Tournament. The winners were Ron Lamb, Jim Slater, Paula Griffin, and Pam Flaherty. It was quite dazzling seeing so many players in white, just like Wimbledon. Afterwards we all enjoyed strawberries and cream and homemade scones. We continue to have a good number of players come out to Triples Play on Saturdays as well as Live Ball on the first Sunday and the last Saturday of the month. Our Men’s and Women’s Doubles tournament is planned for Saturday, September 13. Check out our website, the WellFit website, or contact our resident RSPA/USTPA

Water Volleyball
Welcome to new members joining us from National Pool Day, and thanks to current members for their enthusiastic support in demonstrating our sport. Water volleyball is heating up in and out of the water. In August, we have our next members-only outdoor water volleyball event. September is our next bocce ball game. We have games for every level of play from beginner to “semi” pro. No prior volleyball experience necessary, just a wish to get wet and have fun! Come and try us out at a free drop session any Saturday at 9:00 AM. Please contact us beforehand so we can let you know where to meet and what to bring.
At the present time through August, our Club will be displaying carvings by current and former members in the display windows at OC. Although there are some very professional-looking carvings, there are some carvings by newer members that had little or no experience prior to joining the club. You do not have to be an experienced artist or craftsman to enjoy woodcarving. All that is required is a natural curiosity, a desire to learn, and a little time. All you need to get started can
be as simple as a pocketknife and a piece of wood. We meet on Wednesdays from 1:0 to 4:00 PM in the Sierra Room (KS). We have tools to let you try before you buy.
In 2025, we can dictate messages on our phones. An app called ‘auto-correct’ might type it correctly. Occasionally, it makes mistakes that result in hilarious messages like one sent during the annual parade of goats and sheep eating their way across Placer County’s open spaces. The cloven-hoofed ruminants prevent wildfires while fattening up on brush and grasses. Once, a friend texted she’d be late as goats blocked traffic while going from pastor to pastor. Some people doctor-shop. Now we have goats that pastor-shop! We laughed ourselves silly, especially after she asked in a follow-up text if Lincoln had ‘Goat Hunters’ (she meant ‘herders’). The old goats of The Writers’ Group meet in the Multimedia Room (OC) the second and fourth Mondays, 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Wellness Life Coaching
Why A Wellness Coach?
A Lincoln Hills Wellness Life Coach is a professional who assists individuals in making progress toward achieving greater fulfillment in their relationships, careers, day-to-day life, or extracurricular activities. Schedule with one of our Coaches to better navigate your path, clarify your goals, identify obstacles holding you back, and learn new strategies to move forward. Our coaches will provide the support you need to achieve long-lasting change.
What Can I Expect?
Discerning “the why” is paramount to coaching - because the subsequent checkpoints and milestones are built upon the why of what the client wishes to work toward - and developing a reasonable plan to achieve it. Each 60-minute session includes a personally tailored, written 30-day goal summary that outlines measurable, time-bound behaviors and tasks to be completed by the client. This helps each client maintain progress, overcome challenges, and achieve their desired outcomes.
What Does It Cost?
Each one-on-one session runs sixty minutes for $84.00. Your Wellness Life Coach will recommend the frequency of sessions as you go.
