The Christ Who Fills All Things
The Easter season proclaims not only that Jesus is risen, but that resurrection is woven into the very fabric of creation. Richard Rohr, in The Universal Christ, invites us to see Easter not as a single moment locked in history, but as a revelation of a deeper, wider truth: that Christ is God’s loving presence pulsing through all that exists.
At Easter, the risen Christ still bears the marks of the cross. This reminds us that resurrection does not erase suffering, but transforms it. The divine life does not stand apart from the world’s pain but enters it fully. In the resurrection, love proves itself stronger than death, not by avoiding loss, but by embracing it. This participation by Christ in our brokenness allows it and us to be reshaped into new life. This is good news for a wounded world.
Easter faith, then, is not confined to the sanctuary or the liturgical season. If Christ is “everywhere present,” then resurrection life can be glimpsed in all sorts of places: in forgiveness slowly learned, in justice patiently pursued, in the earth itself, renewing each spring. Easter trains our eyes to recognise life where we had assumed only endings.
This vision both humbles and enlarges us. It calls us to attend carefully to the suffering of people and the planet,
and to trust that God is already at work within each of us, as well as beyond these walls in our city and communities. The risen Christ is not carried by us out into the world; he is already there, waiting to be recognised.
Easter does not ask us to escape this world, but to love it more deeply, confident that resurrection is not an exception to reality, but its deepest truth.

Stillpoint
This is a time of guided silent prayer to be still and aware of the presence of God. We meet in the Longland Chantry from 9.15am to 9.45am on the following Mondays: 11 May, 1 June, 6 July, 7 September, 5 October, 2 November, 7 December
Prayers for Healing and Wholeness
Prayers for healing with the laying on of hands and anointing will be offered after Evening Prayer (which begins at 5.30pm) in St Hugh’s Shrine on the first Wednesday of each month.
Installation of Canon Chancellor Canon Kevin Walton, our new Chancellor, and his wife, Linda, have moved to Lincoln. All are welcome to join us in welcoming them to the Cathedral at Kevin’s installation during Choral Evensong at 5.30pm on Saturday 25 April. Kevin will be the preacher at the 10.30am Sung Eucharist the following day.
Choral Mattins
Mattins, the Book of Common Prayer’s morning counterpart to Evensong, is marked by celebration and praise to greet the new day. Experience another aspect of our Christian tradition in worship. Choral Mattins is held once a month on a Sunday at 9.30am. The next Choral Mattins services will be: 26 April, 17 May, 7 June
the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Dean and Canon Eddy Jarosz, Parish Priest of St Hugh of Lincoln Roman Catholic Church, will lead a procession from Our Lady of Lincoln Church, Cabourne Avenue (LN2 2HE) to the Cathedral on Saturday 23 May. The procession will begin at 2pm. All welcome. Clergy and servers are invited to robe. Contact the Dean for further details.

Bedehouse Concert
Friday 15 May, 7pm
You are warmly invited to an evening of music at the Chapel of St Anne’s Bedehouses on Sewell Road, Lincoln, featuring Ruben Dales, one of our choral scholars, on vocals with musician and composer Colin Dudman on piano.

Pentecost Cakes in the Cloisters - LCCC
Weather permitting, after Evensong on Sunday 24 May, we will be hosting Cakes in the Cloisters again. If it rains we’ll be in the South Transept.

Book Group: The Universal Christ, by Richard Rohr
There will be two groups beginning which will provide the opportunity to read and discuss this book. Both will meet monthly. The first meetings for each are:

Viking lecture at Stow Minster
Saturday 13 June, 4pm
In the sublime setting of Stow Minster, Dr Johanne Porter will share her research and insights into our Viking history. Afterwards, enjoy refreshments, see the Viking graffiti, and speak with a guide about the history of this ancient church. There will also be updates on the progress made towards setting up a Friends of Stow Minster as an Action Group is launched. For parking on the day, look out for the signs and marshalls. Reading Rota
We are preparing the next reading rota for Sundays from 15 May to 22 November. We welcome new people to join this important ministry. Stow Minster Ecumenical Quiet Day
Saturday 18 July, 10am-3.30pm
Led by Canon Ian Stockton and Fr Alex Adkins, this Quiet Day will use the gospel narratives about James, one of Jesus’ first disciples, in exploring the themes of Call, Companions of Jesus, and Service and Martyrdom.
In the ancient holy place of Stow Minster, Ian Stockton and Alex Adkins will again work together ecumenically in offering opportunities for silence and reflection, and for prayer and conversation.
Bring a packed lunch; tea, coffee and water will be available during the day. A suggested £10 donation towards the costs of Stow Minster will be greatly appreciated. Botanical Bounty Exhibition
Monday 15 June to Sunday 21 June, 10am to 4pm
Lincolnshire Textiles is a longestablished group of textile and embroidery enthusiasts from across the county. ‘Botanical Bounty’ brings together a rich variety of work inspired by the natural world. Leaves, flowers, seeds and organic forms are explored through traditional embroidery, mixed media and experimental textile techniques. While some pieces draw on established traditions, others push materials and processes in new directions, demonstrating how textile practice continues to evolve.
On Sunday 21 June the exhibition will be open from 1pm to 3pm.
Festival of History
Saturday 2 and Monday 4 May
Join us at one of Lincoln’s most iconic landmarks as we take part in the annual Festival of History weekend!
This city-wide celebration of history and heritage will transport you to pivotal moments in Lincoln’s past. There’ll be loads of fun activities taking place throughout the weekend, and you can meet our masons at the West Front of the Cathedral, where they’ll be showing how historic skills are still used at the Cathedral today.
We’ll also have some exciting crafts in the Nave which are free with your admission! Enjoy making jewelled boxes, scrolls and jewellery to take away - just like some of the treasures included on Henry VIIl’s inventory
