Linacre College Library houses the collection of Gilbert Ryle in the Ryle Reading Room located in the main library.
Leading philosopher, Gilbert Ryle, was a senior member of the original Linacre House and, concerned that the new institution was lacking a library, donated many of his own books. After his death in 1976, there was a further bequest of his papers including letters and miscellaneous notes extracted from the volumes in his library
All the Ryle books are found on the university's main catalogue SOLO excluding his papers.
