The library aims to give its students the best possible support for their studies and provides a welcoming space for everyone at the College.

Linacre College Library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and offers a quiet study space, a Group Study Room, the Ryle Reading Room and a multidisciplinary book collection

Linacre College Library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for College members and those with reciprocal arrangements.

The main library is reserved for quiet study. A Group Study Room, the Ryle Reading Room and printing and scanning facilities are also available.

There is also additional study space (along with computers, a printer and a scanner) in Study Room 1 on the top floor of the O.C. Tanner building and on the top floor of the Abraham Building, subject to access requirements.

R E G U L A T I O N S

Demand for space is high so please do not reserve study spaces or leave belongings on desks if you leave the library. We do not take responsibility for any private possessions.

Please keep phones on silent and conversation to a minimum in the main reading room.

Food is not permitted in the library

Bottled water, secured when not in use, and drinks in closed cups (like KeepCups) are allowed in the main reading room. Only bottled water is permitted in Ryle Room.

B O R R O W I N G , R E T U R N I N G A N D

The library operates via a self-issue system and books must be taken out via the self-issue terminal in the library lobby. Returns should be placed in the book returns box in the same location. Scan your university card barcode and then the barcode in front pages of book.

Please do not take books out of the library if you have not checked them out.

Members can borrow up to 30 books at a time. Books are loaned for four weeks, but will be recalled after two weeks if reserved by another student If a book you need is on loan you can request the item through SOLO using a hold request.

You can renew books via the University's library system SOLO by signing into your account. Renewals are unlimited unless a book is reserved.

R E N E W I N G A cost-covering scheme can be implemented to recover the current replacement value of any items not returned.

P R I N T I N G A N D C O P Y I N G

Printing and scanning facilities are available in the Library Printer Room. Please do not hold video calls in this space as it needs to be accessible at all times.

Wireless access is available throughout the library using Eduroam. If you have any problems with the college IT facilities, please email IT Support.

Scan and Deliver is a free electronic document delivery service, provided by the Bodleian, which allows you to receive scans of book chapters or journal articles within 7 working days.

Linacre Library is committed to improving its services for those with disabilities. If you have any difficulty in accessing the library, using library materials or are unsure about how accessible the library would be to you please contact the library team.

The library Group Study Room is bookable at this link for Linacre students and fellows only. It is for group study and can be reserved for a maximum of two hours up to two weeks in advance. Please remember to cancel your booking if you no longer need the room.

The Ryle Reading Room is a comfortable, quiet, non-bookable communal space for relaxed reading Accessible to Linacre students and Fellows during library opening hours except when a researcher is consulting materials.

Please respect the space and leave the room as you found it. Only bottled water is permitted. Please no video calls in this room.

Book purchases are made in accordance to the Linacre Library Collection Policy. We welcome book suggestions from Linacre members so please email the library team with any recommendations.

Inter-Library Loans are a way of obtaining material that is not held in any Oxford libraries.
