In my 25 years at Lima Memorial, I have had the opportunity to grow, succeed and contribute to creating a safe and caring environment for our community and my co-workers. The amazing staff within Facilities has supported my journey, and I am proud to be part of this incredible team. I look forward to many more successful years ahead.

Comments from Chad Martin, Director
Nick has done an excellent job advancing his career at LMHS. He started with the projects team, moved to the grounds team and then transitioned indoors to a supervisory role about six years ago. He has done an excellent job leading our around-the-clock team through all the seasonal changes that affect Facilities Management. It is a pleasure working with Nick—his dedication to Lima Memorial is truly valued. Thank you for all you do, Nick!

Visiting all 50 states.
Comments from Wendy Rayl, Director
Stacia is one of our most valuable critical care and open heart-trained nurses. In her 25 years at LMHS, she held different positions as she steadily worked towards her ultimate goal to be a registered nurse. Starting in 1997, she held the following positions throughout the years: Secretary in CCU, PCT / Secretary in Open Heart / Cath Lab and Open-Heart Office Coordinator while attending LPN school. After becoming an LPN, she worked on CVSD (3 South). In 2012, she earned her RN degree and began working on the 6th floor observation unit. She then completed one of our first critical care internships and has since worked in CVICU, HVU and now ICU as a critical care nurse. Stacia delivers her care with a patient-centered focus, always being a true patient advocate with the ability to visualize her care through the eyes of a patient. She vividly remembers one very special open-heart patient who asked her to come to his room. He presented her with a picture he had painted. The picture shared his appreciation for her taking such great care of him and making a big difference in his stay. Stacia’s time in Cath Lab was invaluable, as she is now one of our few line pull experts assisting in training others to learn this skill. Stacia does an outstanding job showing she has a way with the open-heart patients, cheerleading and coaching them into doing all the things it may hurt to do. She is truly amazing at this, and her patients work hard for her, which translates into good outcomes! Thank you, Stacia, for the hard work and dedication you continue to show. Please know how much you are appreciated. It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on 25 amazing years of service!

The definition of a nursing professional is a caring individual who provides compassion, empathy and support to patients and their families. Shelly is the definition of a nursing professional. In July of 1993, Shelly started her nursing career on 5 South, which at the time, was a neuro and med-surgical floor. After four years on the 5th floor, Shelly moved to rehab for two years. In 1999, Shelly applied and was hired into the Family Birth Center. Shelly has spent the last 26 years of her career in OB, caring for mothers while in labor, mothers and newborns during their postpartum period and serving as a certified lactation consultant, helping new moms breastfeed. She has coached, instructed and taught thousands of mothers across several surrounding counties on how to care for themselves and their newborns.
A story that best describes who Shelly is involves a situation eight years ago. I was rounding on a patient who had special needs as well as head lice. I went into the patient’s room, and Shelly was in the restroom with the patient, helping her shower as well as washing her hair and removing the head lice one at a time. This is just one of the many, many displays of love and dedication she has shown. As a department, we would like to congratulate and thank you, Shelly, for your unwavering dedication to the Family Birth Center and our community!

To me, Lima Memorial is like a box of crayons. We are all unique, but when we work together, we make the picture complete. I am happy I get a chance to come and help provide smiles to my patients and their families. I love what I do and the care I get to provide to our patients.
Comments from Wendy Rayl, Director
Dolly started her long tenure here at Lima Memorial working as PCT / Secretary in several areas, including 3 South, Cancer Institute – Med Park, Home Health, Rehab and now in ICU, where she has worked since 2014. If asked, Dolly will share that the reason she wanted to become a PCT stems from her love of helping and caring for people. She strives to inspire patients, give them hope and see the smiles that come from patients and families when that special connection is made. It inspires her and gives her a feeling of fulfillment, joy and satisfaction of a job well done. Dolly shows empathy and compassion for our patients and families, as well as for her co-workers. Dolly shared a nice analogy when it comes to teamwork. She says, “We are all like a box of crayons, all unique in our own way, and when we all work together, it makes the picture complete.” She feels blessed and so do we to have her on our ICU team. Her hard work, commitment and dedication to LMHS are outstanding and greatly appreciated! It is my pleasure to congratulate Dolly on her 30-year milestone!!

LMHS is such a rewarding place to work with a real family feel. Our mission, vision and values statement sets the tone and makes LMHS a great place to work. I am proud to be a part of the LMHS family.
Comments from Tina Verhoff, Director
When you come to the HR department in the early morning hours, you will find Peggy on duty and always ready to serve whoever walks through the HR door. Even though Peggy’s office is at the farthest end of the hallway, when she hears the doorbell ring, she quickly pops up from her desk and is likely to meet you in the hallway before you even have a chance to arrive at the front window and grab a piece of chocolate. She takes pride in serving our associates with her positive and spunky attitude. Peggy leads by example and sets a high standard for our HR team. Her knowledge is an asset to LMHS, and we are fortunate to have her share it with us. She is the “Queen of Position Control,” and she is faithfully relied upon to maintain the upkeep, revisions and accuracy of our associate personnel records in MEDITECH. Peggy’s success is heavily dependent on her ability to remain organized and efficient in completing her daily and weekly tasks. She is a consistent, high-achieving member of our HR team who is favorably relied upon when it comes to our onboarding practices for all associates, medical providers, contractors and travelers. Peggy ensures our new hires and temporary staff are onboarded with ease and have the resources needed to begin their work at LMHS. When asked for their thoughts about Peggy, her HR teammates shared that she is a very energetic person, always has a smile on her face and is happy to help. They described her as not only great to work with but also easy to talk to about life in general. They also said she is “un-stumpable,”as there is not a question she does not know the answer to, or she knows where to find the answer. Most importantly, they emphasized she treats every single person with the utmost respect and everyone loves her. Congratulations, Peggy, on this exceptional milestone of 35 years in your career at LMHS. You are truly a delight to have as a member of our team and an inspiration to us all! Thank you for your commitment and loyalty to LMHS. The fellow members of your HR team are very proud of you and feel blessed to share in this amazing accomplishment with you!

Your patient care skills are second to none, and your commitment to ensuring every patient feels valued has not gone unnoticed.
Beyond your professionalism, you bring laughter and joy to our team. Whether it is your quick wit, jokes or being the “class clown,” you have made even the busiest days brighter. You are more than just a co-worker—you are a mentor, a friend and the heart of our team.
Joe, your dedication, kindness and humor have made a tremendous impact on this hospital and everyone who has had the privilege of working with you. Congratulations on 40 amazing years—Lima Memorial is better because of you!

Kay began her journey with the health system in the medical records department when everything was still manual, and charts were on paper. Over the years, she played a key role in the successful transition to the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), embracing the many changes within the department along the way. Throughout her career, Kay has held numerous positions, with her most recent role of Analyst. In this capacity, she singlehandedly reviews all inpatient records, ensuring they meet the requirements set by various governing agencies. Kay’s wealth of knowledge makes her an invaluable resource to the HIM team. Outside of work, Kay enjoys swimming and cherishes time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who bring her immense joy. Kay, we cannot thank you enough for your unwavering commitment to Lima Memorial.

CENTER
What Does Lima Memorial Mean to You?
I have worked all my 45 years at LMHS in the Emergency Center. I started handing out insurance forms to patients seeking treatment. From there, I became a part of Patient Registration, then changed to a secretary role. I have seen a lot of positive things happen at Lima Memorial. I am not sure, but I think every square inch of the hospital has been remodeled in some fashion. This will probably be my last High Five, so I wish all of you all the fun and adventures I have had at Lima Memorial.
What is a Bucket List Goal You’re Confident You’ll Achieve?
I do not have a bucket list. I just take one day at a time and try to make the best of it. As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
