Development Application BDES3025 - Professional Practices The brief required partial demolition of an existing dwelling house at 6 Chester Street, Petersham to make alterations and 2-storey additions. All necessary DA forms were filed, ensuring the design adheres to the National Construction Code and local planning controls. Designed in collaboration with Isla Liu, my work included creating the Rhino model, the base outlines of the design in all drawings, and filling out written documentation including DA forms, BASIX report, NCC summary, and Statement of Environmental Effects. Isla’s work included adding texture/hatch, details, dimensions, and annotations on all drawings, visualisations.

Design Process BDES3027 - Architecture Studio 3B - Final Studio This project is located on the traditional lands of the Cammeraygal people. Building off the rich industrial and maritime history at Balls Head, as well as its sustainability and biodiversity centre, the proposed open-air arena theatre design extends existing architectural and industrial language on the site while incorporating the natural landscape to form unique interactions with the water. The structure provides a public space, with small gardens and benches interspersed along the path, that runs alongside and wraps around historical structures, namely the Balls Head Coal Loader Wharf and MV Cape Don historical ship. This provides greater views of the history and value of the site while minimising contact to avoid disrupting and damaging the site.

Taking inspiration from the existing structure, Balls Head Coal Loader Wharf, which utilises a rhythm of repeated portal frames (above), helps create a space with rigid structure juxtaposed by multiple meandering pathways, either shaded or uncovered, (right, above) and framed views through the design or of the surrounding natural landscape and historical sites (right, below).

Technical Drawings BDES2013 - Architectural Technologies Through designing a functional, multipurpose, public space, I learned basic construction techniques and gained an understanding of how structures are built. Necessary details such as material, finish, and fixing are noted on diagrams from roof to foundation to ensure accurate assembly.

Tone & Value Study AWSS1001 - Sketching & Drawing The class focused on improving technical drawing skills such as hatching, shading, and composition, as well as observational skills to aide in architectural design processes and nourish an understanding of how 3D forms appear and interact with each other in space. Focusing on tone and value, I learned to capture nuanced shadows in pencil and draw more confident lines in pen.
