Hi! I hope that everyone's month is going well and that you all had a great new years celebration. I am so excited for the activity I have planned that is Valentine's Day related. Additionally, with the end of the year coming up I am excited for Key Club elections as it pertains to next year and who I will see step up to become an officer. I hope everyone has had a good second semester back at school and I hope you all remember to give yourselves breaks when needed. If anyone needs anything, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Happy Valentines day
2023-2024 President Isabella Lininger
During the year of 2023, I learned so much about myself, my peers and my surroundings that has changed my perception of the world and made me learn a plethora of lessons. 2023 was the year I entered my junior year and also entered the IB program. Through the IB program, I have had to learn so much about being balanced and maintaining a positive work-life relationship. I am someone who enjoys having a life and enjoys going out with friends and having fun, however I am also someone who enjoys working hard and not taking the opportunities I was given for granted. It has been very difficult learning how to have this work life balance, however I have done a rather great job at it.
Being Key Club president has only made me have to learn how to have a positive work-life relationship even more. I have had to stay up late to plan meetings, make slides, track hours, and buy things for meetings while also ensuring that I still make time for myself and for the friends around me. I absolutely adore hanging out with my friends and I care for all the time that I spend with them. Overall, 2023 has taught me that I am one of the hardest workers I know, and much of that can be thanks to the leadership position that I have inside of Key Club.
2023-2024 Vice President Esosa Eguakun
In 2022, hosting a menstrual drive was my favorite and most memorable moment of service. It was way more than just collecting pads and tampons – it was about tearing down those awkward walls around talking about periods and showing how a community (my school) can foster positive change as well as bringing comfortability to a topic that may make people uncomfortable. Getting this drive together wasn't just a project; it was like making a difference and taking the concerns of the women in the club into action. Seeing everyone in my school come together to tackle the stigma around periods was amazing.
It wasn't just them gathering supplies; it was them building empathy and showing that even small actions can have a massive impact, especially when it comes to something as basic as making sure everyone has what they need during that time of the month. This drive wasn't just handing out period products; it became a stage for educating those who do not have periods, advocating for change, and having conversations about menstrual health. Watching donation boxes fill up showed a community of young people coming together. We weren't just meeting a need; we were breaking down walls and pushing back against old-school ideas about periods.

The reason I chose Key Club was important to me because it gave me a chance to be involved in my school. Key Club is not just a service you’re in, but it also helps you learn more about leadership skills that will help you in the future. Being in this club has allowed me to engage with my community and address things like fundraisers, charities, and events that other people in our community need to know about. This makes an impact on everyone because Key Club is structured in a way to give back and I believe being a part of that gives you a great opportunity.
Collaborating with my key club members has helped my communication, leadership, and organizational skills not just for community service but for success in the future. Another reason I chose this club is because of the hands-on learning experiences that you can do with other members such as creating projects, organizing events, etc. Not only is it entertaining but you are also gaining skills you won’t think you need until later on in life.
2023-2024 Historian Julian Chaparro
I think that for a lot of clubs after the first semester it starts getting harder to become consistent with participation and continuing to keep a rhythm so for this new year I want to try and get more involved and make sure I don't fall off track from the first semester. I plan to try and get more involved with the members of the key club through social media and even in person so that I can maximize participation for meetings or events. I’ll do this by reminding my friends or people I know are in Key Club that we have a meeting and making sure they are available to attend while I also do the same on social media and inform more people about what we are planning to do and also get them up to speed with what we have done recently.
I also want to get more involved with the members by giving them recognition through social media and make them seen by other members or other people who are interested in Key Club. As a club, I'm sure everyone is planning to try their hardest to keep Key Club fresh and come up with new ideas and new events so that our members can enjoy the values that we hold all throughout the year. I'm very excited to continue working with the other officers and see what I can do to improve the experiences of our members this following semester.
2023-2024 Treasurer/Webmaster Alexis Nguyen
For the past semester, I have been proud of the work the officers and our members have put into helping our Key Club grow, in size and service. It has been immensely enjoyable to watch so many people from different backgrounds and grade levels collaborate during meetings and at volunteer events, and these are memories I will definitely remember as I graduate from high school. However, the officers and our Key Club are continuously learning and seeking opportunities to better improve our communities and our club. This year, I have plans to consistently update the website so that members, and other community members, can stay up to date with Key Clubs events and announcements. I have noticed in past years that there is some disconnect between the officers and the members, and as a result, the reach of announcements for events are less likely to reach every member.
By updating the website and keeping up with the Key Club social media, we should be able to reach our efforts throughout our club and school community. Also, now that we have participated in more events, there is more content and pictures to post on the website. Coming into the second semester also means more free time (hopefully!) as a senior, so a big resolution for me is to dedicate more time to Key Club!
2023-2024 Secretary Aisha Nureini
Key Club plays a pivotal role in fostering positive change within both schools and communities. This student-led organization, with its emphasis on service and leadership, serves as a catalyst for transformative impact. One of the primary reasons why Key Club is indispensable to schools is its unwavering commitment to community service. Through a myriad of projects and initiatives, members actively engage in addressing the needs of their local communities, from organizing food drives to participating in environmental clean-ups.Furthermore, Key Club serves as a training ground for developing essential leadership skills. Members are provided with opportunities to take on leadership roles within the club, enabling them to hone their organizational, communication, and teamwork skills. This not only benefits the individual members but also contributes to creating a culture of leadership within the school.
The club's structure empowers students to plan and execute service projects, fostering a sense of responsibility and initiative Key Club also plays a crucial role in promoting a sense of civic duty among its members. By actively participating in community service, students become more aware of the challenges faced by their neighbors and are inspired to contribute positively. This fosters a spirit of empathy and social responsibility, instilling values that extend beyond the confines of the school environment. Moreover, the impact of Key Club isn't confined solely to the school premises; it extends into the broader community. By collaborating with local organizations and charities, Key Club becomes a bridge between the school and the surrounding community, creating a symbiotic relationship that benefits everyone involved.
