Being the president of Key Club and not being a senior has been something that was interesting for me to navigate. While I would love to serve as the president next year, I want to give other people the opportunity to become the leader that I know they are. I have decided that next year I will not be running as an officer but I will instead serve as a mentor-like figure to the new batch of officers. This year I essentially built back up Key Club at Uplift Summit because it has not been as active in years prior. I care very much for the club so I hope to see it continue to flourish under new leadership.

My advice to the future officers is to not become an officer for the sole purpose to put it on your resume. I want all the officers next year to be passionate about what they are doing I want them to feel motivated to plan out meetings and I want them to feel motivated during every step of the club By doing this and having a strong board of active officers, we will be able to have a consistent club. I also want all leadership next year to not be afraid to ask for help. Personally, I am a person who takes all the work head on and therefore I did not ask for much help from my officers. I would tell the next president to delegate work more efficiently. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have served as the 2023-2024 Key Club President, good luck to all future officers

One moment in the key club that helped to define my character was when our club organized a menstrual drive. We spent weeks planning and promoting the event to the people at our school, not just in our key club but the people throughout our school. Seeing everyone come together for a common goal, witnessing the empathy and generosity of our peers and knowing that our efforts would make a difference deeply impact the population of people who menstruate at our school. Throughout the process of planning, the officers in our club worked really hard going against challenges such as coordinating schedules, ensuring adequate resources were received from each member, and incentivizing those in the club.
However, despite these things, the project was extremely rewarding because I got to witness the excitement from the new members to gain hours, and it was inspiring for me because they spent money for (expensive) menstrual products to be able to help people at school. The experience taught me valuable lessons in leadership, teamwork, and empathy. It also taught me the importance of communication and community. It also at the same time reinforced my belief in collaboration and community service This project was a moment in key club that both stuck with me and defined my character.

This year has been an amazing last year with my school’s Key Club! It’s hard to choose a favorite memory from everything that we have done, and I am grateful that I was able to participate in a fulfilling, memorable, and full-of-participation year! One of my most memorable events was the Wonder Woman Run that we volunteered at conjunctly with other clubs Even though I had arrived early in the morning, I was surprised to see other members there that had arrived earlier than I had, when the venue was still dark with stars shining! The club members and I shifted between different jobs, which was enjoyable since I was able to see how the event was run behind the scenes.
I also got to talk to the head volunteers who host many events and marathons similar to the Wonder Woman Run, in which I received suggestions for new volunteering events for future years Another one of my favorite memories was the Christmas Social that we held It was so nice to see all the members come to a meeting and show grade level pride, some of which were definitely enticed by the large selection of food and snacks provided by the officers We held a friendly competition of gingerbread house building between grade levels, and then sang some karaoke, and overall, it was a very endearing memory similar to previous years with Key Club where we would enjoy Christmas songs and compete to make the best decorated gingerbread house. I’ll definitely miss all the memories I have made this year, but I know our school’s Key Club legacy will continue to live on!

I think elections have a bittersweet feeling to them especially this year as a senior because they mark an end to a year in Key Club but they also mark a new start and refreshment to a new version of Key Club at Summit with new ideas and ways to evolve the club. As a senior seeing an election for the new officers for next year’s Key Club makes me realize that this will be the last year I will be in Key Club for the first time in four years and half of those have been as an officer with some other people in my grade but now we will be officers and members no more. I am still undoubtedly excited to see what the new officers will bring to the club and hopefully they can make it better than it has ever been.
I would love to see it grow and I know that a year from now I will still be looking at the Key Club social media looking at how the club is going and what awesome events they are doing. I am very excited when it comes to change and I think that this change in a club is so important because it not only gives the club an opportunity to grow but it also gives the members an opportunity to grow themselves and potentially grow a new interest while being Key Club officers

At the beginning of the year, I thought Key Club was all about making a big impact beyond our school walls, like organizing community clean-ups or volunteering at local shelters. That’s how I have always viewed the club since it was all about doing a lot of service and helping others. But now, it seems like our main job is to help with school events, like fundraisers or spirit weeks. We did a few things outside of school but I feel like we could have done more! In my opinion It feels like we're more focused on what's happening within our school rather than reaching out to the wider community.

I’m hoping next year this will change and as a club we’ll do more things outside of school. Even though I miss the idea of Key Club being this force for change in the world outside of school, I've come to see the value in supporting our own community too. It's important to take care of each other and work together, whether that's within our school or beyond it So, while things may have changed, the spirit of service and teamwork in Key Club remains strong.

Key Club means a lot of things to me. It’s a place where I can connect with my community and grow skills like leadership, teamwork, communication, etc. Key Club has given me a lot of opportunities for me to share creative ideas with my club members. It has also allowed me to give back to my community while doing exciting things like organizing events or creating fundraisers. In Key Club, not only are you creating service projects but you are also learning about yourself and your community which is a huge step for those who want to be more included in school. Key Club is a family where we all share similarities of wanting to help others who are less fortunate and it also gives us a platform to help each other grow personally by discovering the best in ourselves.
Key Club is not just a club of volunteering but it’s where you can make a difference if you are committed to it and I believe that our club is committed to that. The skills that Key Club has taught me not only help me academically but also professionally as I grow and work towards my goals in life. In my opinion, I believe that Key Club has also done that for our other members as we continue to support each other and connect through our devotion of giving back to others.
