ABOUT ME
I am a fourth year architecture student with a minor in architectural history at the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, Georgia. When I was young, I was never good with words. I had them, the words, but I always struggled getting them out. Needless to say, I had to find a different way of expressing myself. Taking what was in my mind and making it into a piece of art became my way of communicating with others. Be it drawing or sculpting, I’ve always had this tendency of taking my thoughts and ideas and making them tangible, more digestible for others. Overtime I began to see the value of what I viewed as just a quirk. School is where I found myself. My biggest struggle each year was deciding if I should take a math-based elective or an art-based one. Math had just always made sense to me, and I enjoyed how it was definitive in places where art was not. Both allowed me to excel and push myself to new limits. The satisfaction I received from finishing a page long equation versus finishing a painting was analogous. I came to the realization in middle school that the field of architecture was where I needed to be. Architecture gives me the opportunity to combine my two passions to develop a product that can be utilized by an unfathomable amount of people for generations to come. My designs come from a place of care for the general welfare of every living thing. I wish to connect with everyone that interacts with my work on a common ground of empathetic understanding. I seek to continue conversations of the human condition and how it relates to our built environment, as this is how we progress. But like I said, I was never good with words.

Refugee Center
Located just south of the village of Resovo in Bulgaria is, REZERVAT, a multi-functional border checkpoint and refugee resource center. Asylum seekers have always existed in place where persecution takes historical precedence. This phenomenon seems to never be slowing with ongoing political unrest and environmental crisis around every corner. What’s unique about this particular border crossing facility is the principle of humanitarianism, and operating on an agenda of benevolence, where no human seeking asylum is subject to refoulment or further persecution. This facility is Parti Diagram full service in its range of accommodations with an attempt to manage both the traffic of individuals across this border, but also for the processing of various identities. It is at the point of identification where immediate accommodations are made for those that are able to be defined with refugee status. With the goal of resolution for every person that has taken it upon themselves to find their way here, it is paramount that needs are met first and arrangements are made where called for. Facilities like these play a major role in the story of any and every migrant for generations to come, and given that significance, it needs to be done right.

CONSTRAINTS:
RESIDENTIAL MUNICIPAL MARKETS HOTELS RESTAURANTS
There is very little pre-existing industry in the town of Rezovo. There seems to be a prioritization of tourists with several hotels available within the quaint town. Given its extensive history, it can be interpreted that the town would like to keep their local community fairly close knit, with little plans to grow industry wise.

G OA L S / O B J E C T I V E S : SAFETY The first and foremost priority of any center of this variety is safety. The ability to secure a level of protection and dignity for all persons is a bare minimum. Those that are forced to travel this way, must be met with the highest of standards when it comes to the safety and security of themselves and loved ones. This is met by: - Policies of non-refoulment and innocent until proven guilty - Health related services that provide screenings for every individual upon entry - Adequate accommodations for the sustaining of life while in the camp (food, water, shelter)
E D U C AT I O N Education, from an objective standpoint, provides people a level of stability. It is something that can never be taken away from you. For refugees, education opens doors to the more productive and fulfilling lives that await them. This is met by: - Full transparency legal counsel and processing procedures - Traditional K through 12 schooling for those under 18 and trade facilities for those 18+
COMMUNITY Its during times of crisis that strong communities are most crucial. Community is a critical aspect of this facility as it offers guests something that no material accommodation could ever, a sense of belonging. Its these bonds that will see these guests into each and every new day. This is met by: - Design that prioritizes socialization - Meeting the bare necessities to allow for worry-free existence - Offering x-programs that remove guests from their day to day and allow for commonalities to be found
RESETTLEMENT With the understanding that no newly established center would be able to accommodate migrant flow alone, transportation services will be key to appropriate and strategic resettlement of those that may be better suited at a center elsewhere. This is met by: - Efficient and timely processing of identities - Transportation accommodations (bus services)

Skate Shop/Park
The site of Old town Mall in Baltimore Maryland has experienced extreme levels of neglect and disrepair over the course of 200+ years. Situated in the heart of the oldest black neighborhood in Baltimore, the spot has gone through several phases of revitalization and ultimate decline. What was missing from each intervention was an appeal to the average resident. With thorough analysis and a complete urban investigation of the site, the true character of the neighborhood began to reveal itself. What this neighborhood needed was a program that would not only reflect but support its culture. LVL is more than just a skate park, but a haven. Offering both street and park obstacles, it is a space where people are welcome to leave their mark. It teaches while also providing a safe place for all people regardless of background. The shop itself was made to be worn. The design utilizes an existing building on-site and cascades out towards the south end. With nearly all surfaces able to be skated on, it allows the skater to open their mind to new possibilities and truly push themselves to the limit.

Community:
The space will allow visitors to find entertainment through social recreation. It should be seen under the same light as basketball courts and football fields and should be met with the same support from a parks and recreation perspective.
LVL encourages community engagement based on common ground. To have a space that is accepting of everyone regardless of background is exactly what the city needs. The sociability of a space is improved when people are encouraged to interact.
Economic Development:
Public Safety:
Skate parks act as hot spots for the youth in a city. Given the sites lack of any formal parks, the foot traffic in the area alone could be greatened exponentially. Having more “feet on the street” could also be seen as a way for other businesses in the area to get more traction.
About one person a week dies from skateboarding, with a majority being motor-vehicle related. Today, the area has no skate parks meaning the youth are left to their devices, trespassing property and vandalizing architecture on streets that do not prioritize them.

Materials were chosen on the basis of standards set by precedent skate parks. Concrete is much more slick than other materials and offers guests easier momentum. Glass is used to accentuate the form of the building as well as provide ample light to the interior. Wood is used for the bowl on the east end. It is also used alongside metal as accents throughout the building.

This project involves the restoration of a previously existing building on site. Given occupancy, square footage, and program, there are some exceptions to building codes in terms of egress requirements. In a space where circulation is constant and egress is made more efficient through the use of skateboards, emergency exit systems are abundant.

FYLLALUND
Saksun, Streymoy, Faroe Islands 60,000 sq. ft. Observatory
Fyllalund serves the greater community of the Faro Islands by offering guests a chance to come closer than ever before to the spaces that define the culture of this historic country. The Faroe Islands are notable for their extreme terrain, unpredictable weather, and dynamic marine ecosystem stirred by powerful currents. Fyllalund is an observatory to the natural phenomena that encompass the archipelago year-round. The facility provides guests with panoramic views to take in events such as the Aurora Borealis, the powerful storms up the western coastline, and the annual migration of native pilot whales. It is a space for consideration, study, and appreciation, giving guests the opportunity to become fully immersed in the transitional space where the sky meets the sea.

DESIGN
INSPO
Located on the western cliff side of the Island of Streymoy, in the town of Saksun is where our design intention lies. The form was derived from its integration into the landscape and its overall purpose. It takes inspiration from stretched out fishing nets that are then draped over the cliff side into the water. Situated much like a barnacle on the side of a fishing boat, the facility straddles two cliff peaks. The curved walls elicit movement both on the ground and with the eye. The curves optimize the ability of the material, provide more viewing space with expansive views, and allow the building to work with the coastal winds rather than stand against it.
PRINCIPAL ELEVATION OBSERVATORY STAIRCASE
Each segment of the building works as an observatory towards a specific natural event. The one end dives down towards the water isolating the viewer with a near “splash-zone” -esque design, where the main body of the facility works with views of the sky as they meet the water in the horizon.

DACHA is a residential neighborhood that serves the broader community of Bluffton, SC and the in-coming generation of residents that seek to find a sense of home in the heart of the southern low country region. It is a home not only for small families, but young professionals and the working class. During these unprecedented times, it is especially crucial for the designs of tomorrow to be prioritized and arranged in a manner that not just satisfies the bare necessities but goes beyond and serves the residents in ways never once considered. The Town of Bluffton is seeking the development of affordable/workforce housing that will serve the community in years to come. Through accurate and detailed site analysis one can get a better understanding of not only the specific site but the community that will be affected most by the establishment of such a facility. With such an examination, there is the opportunity for a more catered project that not only satisfies the bare necessities, but also works with the town and its agenda for progress in ways never before considered.

S I T E P R E PA R AT I O N + DEMOLITION At Verdant Enterprises, we begin each project by mapping every detail of our sites by hand in the field. With an accurate base map of existing conditions we are able to work remotely from our sites while still having a full comprehension of what currently exists on the site. The first sheet in our construction documents submittal is a Site Preparation and Demolition sheet which notes all that must be done to a site in order to prepare it for the construction process. This includes removals of specific vegetation, demolition of hardscape items, and transplants that will be held on site to then be replanted in the final design. The pink bubbles on the sheet note the specific location of items that correspond to a Construction and Planting schedule for the final design.
41
40
UNIT BID ITEMS The Unit Bid sheet is typically our second sheet in the submittal that works with the hardscape plan to show the exact items we will be implementing. Again on this sheet, the pink bubbles work with the items to note their exact location on the site. Items implemented on this plan include: - Improvements to existing grading and drainage
- Improvements to existing Rock Troughs
- Driveway expansion
- New Rock trough along house dripline
- New walkway system
- Improvements to exisitng paths
- Front garden

PLANTING PLAN The last sheet of every Verdant Enterprise submittal set is the planting plan. The bread and butter of our work is our planting plans which works with existing vegetation on site to create a comprehensive redo on all sides of the property. From entry plantings, to the backyard, every plant has its place. On this sheet we are able to point out every tree, shrub, and groundcover that is to go on a site, along with its quantity and size which can be found on the planting schedule attached.

SAPELO ISLAND VISITORS CENTER Verdant Enterprises latest endeavor is a collaboration with the Sapelo Island Visitors Center. A complete redo of the 11 acre site is to be done over the course of the next two years. So far, we have been able to map out the existing conditions of the site, and develop a conceptual master plan that is awaiting approval from the board of directors at Sapelo Island. New features of the site include: - Enhancements to the wetland garden - Wood landing + Footbridge - Nature Trails - Pergolas - Swale - Pile wall circle w/ bench & sand infill - Native Demonstration Gardens - Wire grid vine trellis’ - Restored Observation Deck - Pile walls at entry points - Cleared views to marsh - Gazebo - Fire Pit - Rain Garden - Collector walk to dock
