As an Architect, Urban designer and BIM expert with over 12 years of experience, my strengths as a designer lie in my ability to cross collateralize both creative and analytical thought. I have the ability to understand and utilize technical tools while remaining creative in how I approach design work and find solutions.

During my design career I have worked within a range of disciplines, scopes, scales and phases, from interior design and varying types of architectural design to BIM management for structural engineering. My responsibilities have included BIM management and integration, environmental analysis, design development and coordination, 3-d modeling, drafting, visualizations, project management, permit processing, construction detailing, structural drawings, and integrating multi-program platforms. I have worked with BIM on large projects such as the Transbay Tower development in San Francisco, BART transport, and S.F. Public Water Works. In addition, I have years of relatable experience as a small business owner in real estate and technical art services, where I further practiced skills of project management, business development and client relations. I offer a strong collective experience with a unique scope of knowledge, including both design and business, together with technical ability for digitization.

As a colleague, I have an eager and open enthusiasm for all work requirements. I am self starting and self driven, however I seek to be around others and work as a team towards shared goals and values. My agility helps me remain calm and patient under pressure and able to work in various capacities at once. Employment: Structus, Inc. Transbay Tower Block 5, 8, 9 San Francisco CA At Structus Inc., an engineering firm in San Francisco, CA, I worked with a team as a BIM manager and Revit expert. I worked with many projects at once, integrating architectural and structural Cad and Revit designs. I was responsible for producing structural and construction documentation from engineer specifications and managing permit submissions and revisions. I created and managed BIM families, schedules, workflows, templates and work sharing for the office.

The following images represent a short sample of my work at Structus, . My projects ranged from small detailed residential designs to large mixed use residential projects such as the Transbay Towers and commercial projects such as Bay Area Rapid Transit (B.A.R.T.).

This work enhanced my knowledge of structural engineering and expanded my experience with BIM, Revit and large scale project management.

Employment: Medium Plenty Blanding - BIM Management, Revit, Architecture, Interiors, Structure, Project Management Blanding is an industrial and office project located in Alameda, California.

The project consisted of renovating an existing industrial building with offices and manufacturing space for large scale decorative architectural concrete parts to be used in the new Apple headquarters in Cupertino. I was responsible for drawing the full existing building/outside landscape digital twin in Revit and detailed specifications/design options for new interior office spaces, production spaces, new structure and the surrounding yard area. This project required strong BIM knowledge, Revit Architecture and Structure and strong knowledge of phasing, work-sharing and creative problem solving.

Cragmont - BIM Management, Revit, Design Development, Project Management Cragmont is a single family residence renovation in the Berkeley Hills, California. I was responsible for design development, project management and all BIM/Revit work on the existing and new parts of the home with clear integration of the two. Multiple options were created for the client throughout a complex permitting process, which required design option management, revisions and exact model management. As well, I created templates, schedules, worksharing standards and documentation for the permitting process.

Prospect Studio Prospect Studio is a companion building to the main house located in Berkeley, California. I was responsible for all aspects of the design drawing in Revit, including 3-D modeling templates, worksharing and family creation. I imported civil engineering information for topography and translated design drawings from sketches to 3-D. I worked with the head architect to finalize details regarding the roof structure, doors and grading for the foundation. I also provided construction detailing for permits.

Parklet, Temporary Outdoor Seating

BIM Management, Revit, Design Development, Project Management The Parklet is a temporary structure that occupies three parking spaces during a set number of months. This was a pilot program in the city of Oakland, CA aimed at finding architects who could design safe and attractive structures that can be disassembled and stored to be assembled again. I was responsible for transforming the design from 2-D sketch to 3-D, providing plans, sections and construction details for permitting, and simple 3-D visualizations.

Academic: Master Thesis Overview, Sustainable Urban Design, Lund University, 2019 "BASECO, Strategic Pathways to Formalize the Informal" Manila, Philippines

My Master's thesis proposal focuses on BASECO, an informal housing settlement located in the main port area of Manila Bay, Philippines.

The site consists of 54 Hectares and an estimated17,000 informal settlement families (ISF), the equivalent of approximately 85,000 residents. The settlement is 100% without legal tenure, and the community organizations are actively working to find permanent solutions to convince the government to give them legal residency.

The project fieldwork was conducted in Metro Manila for a total of 30 days in order to gain a holistic view of the region’s government, culture, quality of life, low income housing industry and informal settlements. The fieldwork included lectures from scholars and government housing agencies, government and NGO interviews, resident interviews on site and in selected settlements and cultural exploration activities.

This proposal provides a pathway to on site development, upgrading to formalized housing while increasing the population capacity, adding areas of green space, improving living conditions, strengthening resilience and consolidating public areas to support vibrant long term economic activity.

BASECO Site

The master plan for BASECO creates a unified network of roads, housing, commercial activities and public spaces, equally distributing the socio-economic fabric throughout the site. The ferry stops provide additional options for residents and visitors to reach the area and a way to commute to work faster. The public shoreline park and nature area fill the need for more shaded green spaces and create a destination based region supported by economic hubs and commercial activities along main roads. New connections from the city make BASECO more accessible and convenient, supporting a healthy integration with surrounding neighborhoods.

Three main housing typologies will encourage horizontal expansion in place of vertical growth, incorporating space for home based businesses, retail storefronts, and an increase in family size. This variation will provide engineered space that will not require improvisation and will ensure that the structure is sound.

Academic: Master in Sustainable Urban, Lund University, 2018 "New Approach to Improved Air Quality" Dugiangyan, China

The Dujiangyan design site has many opportunities in relation to the under-utilized river front, availability of land due to the recent earthquake, and the close proximity to the old town city center and the metro. The challenges exist in missing cohesive connections across the site, large and traffic heavy streets that act as barriers, weak connections to and across the river, minimal or miss-appropriated public spaces, lack of integrated demographics and activities, and issues with dangerous air pollution levels.

The design strategy utilizes physical interventions and renovations to improve air quality while creating a discernible identity with cohesive connections to and through the site. Together these create an improved river front experience with visual indicators, integration of new housing, strengthened commercial areas, increased public gathering space and a greater diversity of demographics.

Academic: Master in Sustainable Urban, Lund University, 2018 "Kronoskogen"

Angelholm, Sweden The Angelholm challenge was assigned in the second semester of the master's program at Lund University. It involves integrating a large area of forestland that spans from the city center with the beach area, which is only activated in the summer months. My approach involves adding housing units and new activated public spaces that integrate naturally into the landscape and the surrounding structures.

This area is a unique and historical asset, and the dunes and trees not only provide recreational and leisure activities, but they also serve as a protection from flooding, erosion and rich soil degradation. The forest is comprised of 100 year old growth, a product of environmental engineering aimed at re-creating the then deforested land to protect the city and agriculture. With this in mind and from the point of view of both preservation and conservation, I began my design process by imposing a rule of light footprint typology and low impact development.

My proposal envisions improving the continuity of the city-beachforest sequence through visual and psychological connections, providing active public spaces and housing for all seasons and decreasing car transport through the forest and to the beach. All structures will be built with stilts to minimize the ground cover and tree root impact and the built area will be minimized to accommodate the maximum amount of tree preservation.

Academic: Master in Sustainable Urban, Lund University, 2017 Re-Imagined Silo

"Living Ystad" Ystad, Sweden

With a balance of urbanity and nature, the new addition to the harbor of Ystad provides an important link to the ecosystems of the Ystad municipality and to the Skane region as a whole.

The living shoreline and extensive wetlands provide habitats that promote biodiversity in plants and animals native to the area and protects Ystad from erosion, sea level rise and flooding.

The soft engineered interventions are based on the study of reconciliation ecology and adaptive urbanism, which both address the need for increased biodiversity in urbanized areas. Through the implementation of fragmentation, green jumping, and a minimized hardscape footprint, eco-services will flourish and invasive species will diminish.

The topography undulates from a sloping grade to the sea on the west and east edges grading to four meters in the center.

The buildings that sit on the sloped areas and the surrounding promenades are on stilts, thus allowing sea level to rise without consequence to the structure.

The urban context of the restored harbor is imbedded in nature, surrounded by generous green spaces and a circulation of plant filled water catchments and canals which work together to help drain the city as a whole in times of heavy rain and provide natural beauty in all seasons.

The eco-urban ring offers a variety of lifestyle options, from a more public context facing the promenades, to a more private yet still connected area surrounded by parks. For the dedicated nature lover the extensive wetlands provide a remote experience with a network of peaceful paths and stunning vistas. For those who prefer to live on water, there is a cozy second marina

Academic: BA Architecture, U.C.Berkeley, 2012 "Mixed-Use, Mixed-Income, Mixed Social" Oakland, CA The design challenge for this existing empty lot is to create a new construction in-fill development with mixed use options in a municipality that is lacking affordable housing, yet is rapidly gentrifying in all areas.

The goal is to maximize the number of units with a variation of residential spaces no larger than 900SqFt, and modest commercial spaces on the ground floor.

Handicapped accessible units must be included and the design must conform to local building restrictions according to city zoning laws, height and setback restrictions.

The concept is to provide a high quality of life for mixed income, mixed use and ultimately a healthier integrated society.

Personal Design Development, 2012-2017 "Floating City" Worldwide Oceanic Locations This project Personal research and design development informed by initial research and guidelines provided through my Ambassadorship at the Seasteading Institute in 2016.

The objective is to design a floating city that can survive in the ocean and is capable of re-organization and location change. The development should provide long term housing, food production, schools, hospitals and general city services with energy and food self sufficiency.

The design has limitations set from research developed by the Dutch firm Delta Sync / Blue 21. The ideal form is a hexagon or pentagon base with maximum of two stories and the ability to re-orient the units.

There should be an option of providing perimeter wave defense in order to survive beyond calm ports.

Personal Design Development, 2012-2017 "Mobile Vessel: Rescue, Integrate, Repeat" Worldwide Ocean Locations This project is a personal research and design development that started in 2014, and is still in an ongoing development.

The objective is to design a vessel that can withstand long distance oceanic voyages including large rogue waves. The vessel will provide semi-long term or short term housing with self sufficiency for energy, food production and the equivalent of modern city services. The vessel provides a nurturing hub where multi-cultural collaboration and integration is supported and integration activities provide a smoother transition for the residents when they arrive at their next destinations. This project is intended to allow for scalability and various versions that can include close off shore use of retired vessels.

The vessel is a response to the increasing need to house refugees in all parts of the world. The number of those in need for shelter and healthy integration will only increase within the next decade due to climate change related pressures. This is intended to be one possible part of the solution. The vessels could include de-commissioned cruise, container barges and military ships.
