The kitchen is a good place to start the decluttering process because throwing away chipped dishes and expired spices isn’t as taxing as wading through boxes of potentially important paperwork or personal items. Take everything out of the fridge and cupboards and spread it all out on a counter or table so it’s easy to review. Give shelves a good wipedown and restock them with the necessities, putting go-to things within easy reach, and donating or storing appliances and dishes that are used less often.

• Stop the build-up before it begins. Keep a recycling bin handy for unwanted credit card offers and coupon packs before they enter the house, and unsubscribe from magazines and newspapers if they pile up unread. Eco-Cycle has some tips to cull the tide of junk mail, and mobile apps like Evernote can help collect and digitize recipes, warranties, instruction manuals and memorabilia to clear away more piles of paper. At the end of the day, it’s OK to hang on to belongings that are near and dear to you. But for items that don’t hold sentimental or functional value, kick start a decluttering mission today so you can enjoy a tidier, safer home tomorrow.

Once you feel good about your progress in the kitchen, move on to tackle the garage, office and other spaces where belongings tend to pile up. Like closets! • Keep only what you wear the most. Pick a handful of favorite outfits for everyday wear, social outings and special occasions, seasonal wear and wardrobe staples, and donate the rest. If it’s hard to part with handmade or other sentimental items, consider finding creative ways to remember them, such as making a memory quilt of old T-shirts or photographing special items for an album and then letting them go.

Ken Wood
Financial Advisor Which is better: taking smaller payments for more years or larger payments for . fewer years?Highway 95 Suite B 477100 Ponderay, ID 83852 There’s no simple answer to this question. If you are in good health and have a family 208-255-2613 history of longevity, you may decide it’s worth your while to wait as long as possible before collecting benefits. Also, if you enjoy working and don’t immediately need the Social Security payments, you may choose to wait. On the other hand, if your health is questionable, or if you would rather retire than continue working, you might want to start taking payments earlier. And, of course, if you simply need the money to help support yourself, you may not be able to wait. Additionally, don’t forget potential implications for your spouse. Since the survivor benefit is based on the size of your retirement benefit, it may make sense to delay and maximize your retirement benefit, which could help provide the maximum benefit for your surviving spouse. If I’m still employed when I begin taking Social Security, will my monthly checks be reduced? If you’re working, and you start collecting benefits before you reach full retirement age, your payments could be reduced if you earn more than the Social Security earnings limits, which are adjusted each year. Once you pass your full retirement age, though, you can earn as much as you like without having your payments reduced (although they could still be taxed). Will I be taxed on my Social Security benefits? Social Security benefits can be taxable at any age, whether you’re employed or not. To understand your tax liability, consult with your tax advisor.

champion last year in 3200 and was a state competitor as a junior in 3200 and freshman year in the 4x400m relay,” said coach Angie Brass. After graduating next spring, Niah said she would like to stay in the Pacific Northwest and study environmental science. “I love the outdoors and believe that there is much to be done to protect our environment and wildlife,” she said. She shares that what she loves most about cross country is the team. “I’ve met many of my closest friends from being a part of the cross-country team,” said Niah, adding that cross country has taught her how amazing it is to be part of something bigger than herself. “It’s taught me how to dedicate hard work to a cause in order to help you and your teammates be the best they can be and to build deep, meaningful relationships with people who are working together to accomplish a common goal.” She is grateful to her coaches for more than just helping her to become a better athlete. “My coaches, Matt and Angie, challenge me to be better every day, not just as a runner and teammate
but also as a student, friend, daughter, sibling and just overall a better human being in every aspect of my life,” said Niah. KIERAN WILDER - Senior Kieran Wilder has participated in both cross country and track since his freshman year and considers his biggest accomplishment so far to be when he had the opportunity to run cross country at state last year. “The team was truly special, and I felt a bond to every guy on our team,” said Kieran. “For my final year of running, I hope to continue to build these bonds with every member of our team.” Kieran will serve as the boys’ cross-country captain this year, something Coach Angie Brass said is welldeserving, citing Kieran’s consistent dedication, training and rapid movements.

Your Fabulous Spa-aah Experience Awaits!
Just a Few of our Amazing Kieran plans to attend the University of Idaho for two years and then transfer to the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he will study environmental engineering. He shares that being part of a team is the most valuable part of cross country. “Having a connection to the rest of your teammates allows you to push yourself past what you would be able to do alone,” he said. “Having so many friends on the team, and constantly gaining new ones, makes you feel that you always have someone there for you,” he said. And of his coaches Matt and Angie Brass, Kieran said they have changed his life profoundly. “I have learned discipline and how to balance all the aspects of my life, academically and athletically. I have learned to use my voice and move into a leadership role, overcoming my personal insecurities to contribute for the good of the team. This wonderful team has made all the difference in my life and has taught me lessons I will use for the rest of my life and built relationships I will cherish forever.”
