WELCOME FROM THE PRESIDENT
Avery warm welcome this afternoon to Waverley Road for this always eagerly anticipated local derby against Market Harborough . Over the past few seasons our visitors have held the upper hand and they have become a very good side regularly holding a top four league finish.
Our visiting guests from Market Harborough at lunch today are led hopefully, by their President Adrian Neal and we hope they enjoy a great lunch, once again put together by our very own ‘Celebrity Chef’ Nick Cleere and his team
We anticipate another good performance today from our boys after they played so much better at Leicester Forest last weekend and will hopefully be strengthened by more players returning from injury. Although we have now unfortunately lost Shane Ling who has had the operation on his knee and will be out for the rest of the season, we all wish you a speedy recovery Shane.
This season has seen a number of our old players who now live abroad return to the Club for a visit and today sees another ‘blast from the past’ attend our lunch as Kevin Stafford brings a number of his friends to join us. Kevin now lives in Australia and is currently the Chief Technology Officer @ Rugby Australia, so a Kettering lad plotted England’s defeat at Twickenham last weekend.
As we head rapidly towards the Xmas period there are really lots of fantastic events planned at Waverley Road for your entertainment, ranging from a ‘Morning with Santa’ through Christmas Carol Shouting to our Xmas Match Day Lunch when we entertain Wellingborough on December 21st. See the posters around the Club for further details.
Today sees another new addition to our Match Day Experience following the launch of our online Match Day Programme as we unveil our new electronic scoreboard, a huge thank you to the ‘Wednesday Gang’ for its installation, and to the sponsors who have covered its cost. If I can now read it, then I expect you all to be able to see and read it.
On behalf of everyone at the Club can I say a big thank you to all the Match Officials who will come to Kettering this year. Without you there is no game, and we greatly appreciate your efforts.
Finally, to our fans, undoubtedly some of the best in the league, whether home or away as ever: Be Loud, Be Proud and Be Respectful.
