Confidential support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week via text, phone or video call. Whatever challenges you may be facing, help is always close at hand. During term time, students can also access face-toface support from our counsellor.

Our learning support team works closely with teachers, welfare staff and other specialists to make sure you are fully supported. Whether you have an EHCP, a previous support plan or are new to additional support, we will work with you to understand your needs and regularly review your progress. UNDERSTANDING COURSE LEVELS We offer a wide range of qualifications to suit different interests, abilities and career goals. Our admissions team is here to guide you, helping you choose the right course combination based on your interests, career ambitions and predicted GCSE results. A LEVELS

NEW FOR 2027!

A levels are ideal if you enjoy academic study and want to keep your options open, usually studying three subjects over two years, with a focus on exams at the end.

V Levels are new vocational qualifications, equivalent to one A Level, combining academic study with practical, careerfocused training. They support progression to university, employment or apprenticeships.

T LEVELS T Levels combine classroom learning with industry experience, giving you practical skills and knowledge aligned to real careers, and are equivalent to three A Levels.

VOCATIONAL COURSES Vocational courses, such as BTEC or City & Guilds, focus on practical, hands-on learning, with a mix of coursework and assessment. They are highly valued by employers and accepted by many universities.

St Vincent Sixth Form College is at the forefront of these new qualifications, offering V Levels in Digital and Education & Early Years.

ENRICHMENT Enrichment is an important part of your study programme and you will take part in at least one activity. It is a great way to build new skills, gain experience and meet people who share your interests, all while boosting your confidence both in and out of the classroom. There is something for everyone. You might choose to stay active through activities such as football, badminton or fitness sessions. You can also explore personal development opportunities like book club, politics discussions, personal finance or learning a new language. Our expert careers team provides impartial advice and guidance through one-to-one sessions, workshops, tutor activities and dedicated progression events, helping you explore the wide range of options available. Work experience is built into your programme, giving you valuable opportunities such as placements, industry projects, employer visits and World of Work Week. These experiences help you develop key skills, build confidence and gain insight into your chosen career. We also support students in securing apprenticeships, offering guidance with applications, interview preparation and assessment tasks. Many of our students progress to leading employers including IBM, Deloitte and Ernst & Young. To strengthen your employability, you will take part in workshops covering CV writing, applications and interview techniques.

For students with an EHCP, our Supported Internship programme provides a practical route into employment, with most learning taking place in the workplace. Many students progress to university, supported throughout the UCAS process, with strong links to a range of universities helping you take the next step.

SUPPORTED INTERNSHIP Supported Internships are designed for students aged 16–24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who want to take the next step towards paid employment but may need extra support to get there. This one-year programme is built around real workplace experience. You will spend most of your time in a job placement, gaining practical, hands-on skills in a role that matches your interests. Alongside this, you will attend college to develop important skills such as English, maths and employability. You will be supported every step of the way by a dedicated Job Coach. They will work with you in the workplace, helping

you learn new skills, build confidence and settle into your role. As your confidence and independence grow, their support will gradually reduce, giving you the freedom to succeed on your own. Your internship is tailored to you. We work with a range of employers and will help match you to a placement that suits your goals and strengths.

Research

Before you apply, make sure you do some research into the types of courses that are out there, and which ones could be right for you. Look through college prospectuses, course information on the website, and attend open events to work out the best route for you after school.

Apply Online

Visit our website www.stvincent.ac.uk and click the ‘apply now’ button. You can add your selected courses to the ‘shopping basket’ before completing each step of the application form. Once you’ve completed each step, submit your application to us. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.

Before offering you a place at college, we’ll invite you in to chat about your courses. This is an opportunity to chat with a teacher about your course choices, entry requirements and enrichment options.

Receiving an offer

Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided and by post. The offer will be conditional, based on your predicted GCSE grades.

What next?

After you have accepted your place, we’ll keep you updated throughout the year with any information you need to know about starting college. Once you get your GCSE results in the summer, we’ll invite you in to enrol on your courses. 14

WHAT HAPPENS AT MY WELCOME MEETING? Welcome meetings are friendly one-onone chats to make sure the courses you’ve chosen are a good fit for you. We’ll get to know you better, and you’ll have a chance to ask any questions you have. We’ll also give you advice and guidance about the best path for your future. You don’t have to come alone. If you’d feel more comfortable bringing someone with you, that’s totally okay. Applicants are expected to attend a Welcome Meeting in order to be considered for a place at St Vincent and to be invited to enrol with us in August.

In Level 2 Business you’ll gain all the insights you need to understand how a business operates. This ranges from online management, marketing, business finance, customer service, and personal finances. This course helps you build important communication and literacy skills for everyday life. You will learn how to listen carefully, understand, and respond to spoken information in familiar situations. You’ll also develop your knowledge of common words, how they are used, and how to apply them in different contexts. The course also supports you in reading everyday texts accurately and with confidence and you will also practise writing clear and effective texts, while improving your spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills. This course will help you build strong problem-solving skills. You’ll practise mental maths and working things out with and without a calculator.

On this course you will learn how to recognise simple problems and work out clear solutions by following one step or process. Each problem you solve will focus on just one area of maths, such as numbers, measurements, shapes, or data.

You will learn how different areas of maths link together and how to choose the right methods to solve problems, both in maths and in real-life situations. The course also supports you in thinking logically, explaining your ideas, and building simple arguments.

LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE This course is made up of options available within the school of sixth form studies and is designed as a transition course to support young people with SEND needs transition from bespoke or specialist provisions.

This course supports students with severe learning difficulties and focuses on developing the independence and advocacy skills learners need for adult life. Entry Level 2 This course supports learners with PMLD and SLD and has a focus on personal resilience, communication, advocacy and social/community participation.

PRE-VOCATIONAL STUDIES This course supports the Entry Level 2 Life and Living Skills and is aimed at students post 19 who have entered their adult life. It has a focus on advocacy, communication, community participation and personal resilience. This is a two year course only and does not offer alternative pathways within the SPL.

WORK SKILLS – CERTIFICATE IN CUSTOMER SERVICES Entry 2 - Level 1 This course will offer students the opportunity to develop the fundamental skills required to enter the world of work.

ADULT EDUCATION St Vincent Sixth Form College offers a wide range of courses for adults aged 19 and over who are looking to upskill, retrain or enhance their employment prospects. Courses are delivered either in person at our Adult Education Centre in Gosport or online, providing flexible study options to suit your needs.

We also offer a Writers’ Workshop for those looking to develop their writing, Employer Ready workshops to support your next career move, and a Certificate in Digital Marketing to help you build industry knowledge and skills. In addition, we offer a range of workplace-based learning opportunities and courses designed to prepare you for careers in early years, or health and social care.
