LED there be light When Ronni Gol realised the potential technology of using light, he wanted to be part of the lighting industry.

What he discovered was magical for him, light could be shaped with shadows, and shine in a spectrum of colours, tones and shades that could be warm and cold. He realised that it could be especially used sculpturally, by controling it with technology and his own creativity. For Ronni there were endless opportunities to create more than just illumination. He saw light art for the home. �Light follows technological development. When I started halogen was the big thing, then the classic incandescent light bulb came back, and today everybody works with LED. Each invention provided a new perspective to old ways of using light.

When I first discovered the power of light, shadow was my biggest surprise.

I noticed its indirect possibilities. I was

overwhelmed! After this all of my designs had an element of shade and shadow. For me, the most interesting light appears when a design uses different types of light and mixes the tones of light with shadow.�

He already had a history of innovation and business within the family, the whole family were self-employed and used to business. Now with his new

understanding of light and the possibilities of utilizing the new technology, 25 year old Ronni Gol decided to start his own company. In 1995 LIGHT-POINT was founded, and the first thing he did was to introduce more sleek and stylish European designed lamps to compliment the home market. For this he turned to Italian manufacturers, as for many years they had excelled in simple designs.

The start of the company was therefore as an importer of Italian lamps, which quickly became a success.

These designs fitted in beautifully with style in the Nordic interior, whilst they also added an extra edge. Following on from this success it was then obvious to him that there was an interest in this aesthetic. So the next move he decided on was in 2001, when he decided to design his own lamps. ”When in your everyday working life you are looking at a lot of lighting design, learning about the technical background involved, improving your knowledge of light and its possibilities”.

” There came a point,

where I had an inner desire to make changes and improvements.

”Therefore, it was natural for me to start drawing some design sketches which also contained an exploration of the light. So gradually I began to take my own lamps with me to the client meetings together with the Italian.

The interest was great. Actually I came to the situation where it was the Italian designs that I had to push, whereas mine were snapped up straight away.

Thereafter, I chose to focus on my own product. Now 20 years later, countless lamps have been purchased, and my approach to design is still the same.”

He found that in most circumstances light was being used very traditionally – often as skylights centrally in a room.

This is why his lamps offer to be used in a different and evocative way.

According to Ronni Gol, you get the most effective light by placing it at several levels – in the ceiling, on the wall, along the floor or in the floor.

”Light is used for a dramatic effect. For this reason my lamps can be used to highlight dark areas and highlight the architecture or objects. All our lamps can be mixed across designs to create different atmospheres in different rooms, but the lamps can also stand alone.

” For me, a lamp is a piece

of furniture that is decorative and sculptural.

With the development of technology, there always arises new possibilities, which we then can utilize and design, and exactly that makes working with light interesting.”

The starting point for Ronni Gol’s design is often his own insight and preference for lighting. That is then matched with his ability to see what is missing in the market. Innovation and change are a fixture at LIGHT-POINT. Recycling of old ideas is only relevant if it adds something new for a design or light. It is precisely this focus on

Lightyears ahead Today at LIGHT-POINT we have around 20 employees. The lamps are at leading housing and lamp outlets throughout the country, and the company is really beginning to get a foothold around Europe and in the Middle East.

Our minimalistic and functional designs can be found at restaurants, offices and homes. Architects, who work with lighting where light and its effects are at a premium, appreciate the quality of our lamps.

Showing others the light Innovation needs an audience, it requires us to show you our ideas of lighting through a visual presentation.

So in order to understand our way of thinking, we have created a concept where our lamps are included as a complex uniform exhibition that we use across the country. In this way we create a strong identity, focusing on harmony that is instantly recognizable as a LIGHT-POINT product. This method has created greater demand abroad also. Where LIGHT-POINT appears in more and more stores as an innovative lamp concept, where you always know it’s a lamp from LIGHT-POINT.

”I concentrate on functionalities so people can create light art of their own, by adjusting the light and putting lamps together.”

With this sense for development and an original approach to lighting, LIGHT-POINT today has become a leader in lighting industry.

ll through history we have been facinated by glow of gold which we have used in everything from payment to decoration. As a symbol of the Sun and supernatural beauty gold has shined more than silver, brass and copper. Which in step with fashion has slipped in and out of our homes, like the trends in arts and crafts. In 1970’s shiny materials made way in favor of wood, ceramic and other organic materials. Now ‘the golden time’ has struck our homes once again where we are mixing brass, copper and gold – still with simple clean lines and Scandinavian aesthetics in mind.

It is part of our work at LIGHT-POINT, to create the future of light where our design reflects our passion and admiration for light. Light is not just light, but moods and atmosphere.

Therefore we design lamps which are sculptures in themselves, with a focus on how they make the best light. This demands something of the design, and the key to this is simplisity and an original approach to the light.

The personal home Light is the essential part of our design, and the design shape is literally an accessory to the light. When designs are too busy, it can disturb the sense of light. Not to remove the focus from the light and its effect, our lamp designs span over a range of graphic and geometrical shapes. Also we have kept the same materials, and because our style is clear and recognizable, one can mix all our lamps together, despite their different colours, to keep an expression of harmony. The trend for home decor is moving towards a more personal style. We have with our designs

created a platform, were one can make an individual expression with light. Mixing dimmed light from indirect light, with general light from bigger surfaces, and focused light from spots. All lamps are exceptional in a way, so they can stand alone. As well as being grouped and arranged across a range of designs.

We see the light in the darkness Light is captivating and the point which we look to in the dark. Here we feel safe, and the affect of light is that it can create atmosphere and moods.

Warm golden light is radiates of luxury and cozyness, while cooler light can create a feeling of futurism in an interior.

It just depends on the combination.

As an extra effect some of the lamps are adjustable, so they give off either a soft light or defined light onto the surfaces, creating a tapestry of light.

Only style and imagination sets the limits for light-art, where you are the artist. And it is exactly the endless combinations which strengthen us in the creative process and drives our development at LIGHT-POINT.

But to define light you need its opponent – shadow. In our design we care as much for the light as we do for the shadow. One cannot be expressed without the other, for it is in the contrast that the interesting light appears. Therefore we use indirect light in our lamps, which seems understated, but in many ways they have a more dynamic expression than direct light.

Light and shadow can create endless variations depending of how you use a light source and your tecnical capability. Light and trends within the lighting design follow the tecnology.

Which spans across soft candel light, oil and gas lamps, to electric light and then the revolution of LED. At LIGHT-POINT we think about all aspects of light and shadow, so our designs reflect the range of light which has been used throughout time.

Warm light We have always preferred to use Scandiavian colours; white, silver grey, black, with their calm atmosphere, as they fit well into the pale Nordic

interior. But as a tendency we experience that gold, with its soft golden warmth is about to enter the design stage once again. As a material it is eye-catching, and therefore creates contrast and edge. The effect depends on the way you utilize the gold. Gold is the new permanent part of our product line. With a touch of decadence and extravagance it can

add luxury and warmth to an interior.

In our designs we have tried to catch this spirit, and keep the minimalistic style which fits into scandinavian interior design.

is why gold and indirect light works really well together. Our interest in gold is rooted in how the material can be combined with tones from light, which varies on a scale between warm and cold colours. Gold can especially add warmth to the cooler tones from LED light which we use to create indirect light with. Instead of a shiny gold colour we have chosen to use a

matt which creates gravitas, look more simple, exclusive and solid.

Apart from that we have combined gold and black to create a lounge atmosphere.

General terms of sale and delivery The following terms and conditions cover all deliveries and services from LIGHT-POINT A/S, Gothersgade 14, 1123 Copenhagen K, Denmark, unless other terms have been agreed upon in writing.

Tender A tender is binding for three weeks from the date of the tender.

Dispatch/return of goods Delivery will be EXW LIGHT-POINT A/S’ warehouse (Incoterms 2000) unless other terms have been explicitly agreed upon.

When buying any of LIGHT-POINT A/S’ goods for resale buyer shall defray all freight charges himself.

Dispatch will take place at buyers’ own account and risk.

When delivery has been agreed to be free of carriage the cost of dispatch is included in the price and the dispatch will be at the risk of LIGHT-POINT A/S. Buyer is only entitled to annul the order due to delay provided delivery is delayed for more than 30 days. Returned goods will only be received when prior agreement of return has been reached and then only in the original wrapping and in an undamaged state. A copy of the delivery note or the invoice must accompany the returned goods.

Erroneous orders for standard goods will be deducted 20% for handling and control. Special goods, procured goods and unwrapped light sources will not be accepted for return.

Prices All prices are current prices stated in DKK / SEK / NOK / EURO exclusive VAT, government taxes and light sources unless otherwise stated. All prices are stated without prejudice to printing errors, price changes and discontinued goods.

Payment Unless otherwise stated in LIGHT-POINT A/S’ tender or other written agreement our terms of payment are net cash at delivery/collection. At delay in payment a fee of DKK 100.00 / SEK 125.00 / NOK 115.00 / EURO 14.00 and interest of 2% per commencing month will be added.

Notification of defects Buyer is obligated to examine the goods immediately after receiving them. Notification of defects must be given to LIGHT-POINT A/S within 8 days of delivery. If buyer does not notify LIGHT-POINT A/S of defects within this time-limit he will not be able to cite any defects at a later date.

Expenses incurred by buyer in connection with cited defects are not covered by LIGHT-POINT A/S unless LIGHT-POINT A/S has received the notification of defects and has given a written acceptance to cover the costs.

Warranty Products which have a manufacturing fault or a flaw in the material will be repaired without cost or exchanged in accordance with the rules in the Danish Sale of Goods Act and to the same extent that the warranty from sub-suppliers covers. Light sources are not covered by warranty.

Exemption of liability Non-fulfilment including delay or delivery of defective goods will only justify buyer compensation provided buyer documents that the non-fulfilment is caused by gross negligence on the part of LIGHT-POINT A/S. However LIGHT-POINT A/S is in no case responsible for operating loss, loss of time, loss of profits or other like indirect losses including daily fines inflicted on buyer.

Product liability The company is only responsible for product liability in accordance to the rules in the Danish Product Liability Act. Beyond this the company is not responsible for product liability.

Disputes Disagreements in connection with the cooperation of the parties with reference to this agreement must be solved according to Danish law, in as much as the parties agree that the venue shall be the Maritime and Commercial High Court in Copenhagen or alternatively the City Court of Copenhagen.
