Granbury Cabin SIT IN SLOWER SERENITY FOR A SPELL

FOR THOSE WITH FRESH AIR, RELAXATION AND TIME AWAY FROM ELECTRONIC DEVICES AT THE TOP OF TO-DO LISTS THIS FALL, A COZY BOUTIQUE RETREAT AWAITS WITH CONVENIENT ACCESS FROM FRISCO AND THE BROADER DFW AREA. Going off the grid is easy at The Granbury Cabins at Windy Ridge, a wooded, 10-acre property with private cabins and peaceful, getaway spots. Guests enjoy the slower pace and simple country pleasures, echo Cassie and Jason McPherson, co-owners of the retreat. “We’re thankful and happy that people connect with what they love here at The Grandbury Cabins—whether that’s recentering themselves, getting back to nature or reconnecting with loved ones,” Cassie says. “With spotty cell service due to the wooded areas, guests can focus on family or recharging their energy, whatever’s important to them. Some even use the challenging cell service as the perfect reason to avoid their offices for a weekend.” Cassie and Jason know firsthand how important it is to relax, refresh and reconnect; they left their corporate jobs to purchase this retreat in October 2017. “We were feeling burned out, living our lives for weekends and searching for a retreat for the last 10 years,” Cassie says. The McPhersons offer farmhouse-style cabins outfitted with lush bedding, whimsical vintage touches, full-sized kitchens or kitchenettes, sitting porches, charcoal grills, fire pits and private hot tubs. Many of the cabins contain salvaged or reclaimed wood and other recycled items. Cassie says some of her favorite cabin accents are the more than 100-year-old kitchen sinks and working stoves from the 1920s. “We have personal touches not found at other properties, such as using farm implements to hang curtains,” she adds. To pull guests outdoors, there are fun lawn games, such as cornhole and ladder ball. Those staying also can enjoy hiking the property’s rustic trail. 22
