Johnstons of Elgin looks back to go forward this season, taking inspiration from Mongolia, Peru and Scotland to bring the story of their Autumn Winter collection to life. The brand explores the origins of its fine fibres, referencing South American skylines, ice-capped Mongolian Mountains and the landscapes of the Scottish Highlands in striking knitwear, outerwear and accessories for both men and women.

Updated detailing gives their Men’s classic proposal a contemporary lift, while innovative designs create a new benchmark in Cashmere and Merino Wool tailoring. Creative Director Alan Scott said, ‘The collection is divided into three platforms, each with its own concept, and they can all work together. We connect the collection back to its fibre roots, Mongolia our home of Cashmere, Peru for our unique source of precious Vicuna, the Australian outback supplying our pure Merino Wool and Scotland for iconic tartans, tweed and Fair Isles.’

Men’s Athluxe separates are straightforward and sophisticated, with minimalist detailing and refined styling. The introduction of Australian Merino Wool to this lifestyle capsule provides an accessible price point. Modern Layering pieces utilise Whole Garment Technology for a seamless finish, including an engineered Merino Wool jacket, which perfectly bridges the gap between knitwear and tailoring. Alan explained that three years of development have gone into the new collection, and the brand has approached it with the clarity of 20/20 vision. The seasonal Origins 20/20 edit takes inspiration from around the globe, reflecting the rich textures, colours and patterns of Peru and Mongolia and referencing original art, textiles and ancient symbolism in contemporary designs. 22 Women’s Athluxe and Travel pieces remain relevant for home, journeys and off-duty activities, with an expanded range featuring clean lines and luxurious silhouettes in new fibres. Updated detailing such as flatter, deeper neck trims and more relaxed shapes, give classic knitwear pieces a contemporary lift, and the brand introduces a new coordinated knit dressing system across different gauges. Patterns and weaves are influenced by a traditional Panama hat, an estate tweed jacket, Inca motifs and a Mongolian herding jacket.

Traditional colours underpin both the men’s and the women’s collections, with highlights of Ice-Water Aqua, Amber, Harissa and China Blue along with Lotus Pink and Gold.

Craftsmanship and innovation, fibre sourcing and sustainability are all part of the Johnstons of Elgin story. Every piece in this unique collection for both men and women describes a part of the brand’s journey.

In the two centuries following its establishment in 1797, Johnstons of Elgin is one of the last few vertical mills in the UK still carrying out all the processes from raw cashmere and fine woollen fibres right through to the finished product. Johnstons of Elgin’s mills in Elgin and Hawick employ over 1000 people, including highly skilled textile craftsmen and women.

The new collection is now in the Elgin store and they are doing everything to ensure that you have not only a memorable shopping experience but also a safe one, in line with current guidelines. Should you wish, you may have a personal shopping appointment, with all the customary excellent service that is synonymous with the world-renowned Johnstons name.

NEW CHECK AND PROTECT SYSTEM

Just over a month ago, the Scottish Government introduced new measures requiring indoor hospitality venues to record patron contact information.

Visit Moray Speyside and Moray Chamber of Commerce worked together to launch Check & Protect, offering businesses a simple, secure and efficient way of recording customer contact details in line with the Scottish Government regulations.

Moray Speyside Check and Protect was launched just 6 weeks ago and is already being used by more than 70 businesses in the region. More than 6,500 individuals have signed up, collectively checking-in more than 25,000 times.

Customers have only to sign up once to the system, using their smartphone camera, and they can then seamlessly check in to any registered business with their phone.

Patron data is securely stored for the required 21-day period and is then automatically deleted. If businesses become aware of a potential issue, their check-in data can be accessed by NHS track & trace or the local authority within minutes.

A business dashboard allows manual entry of patron data for those who do not have a smartphone by means of a simple webpage which can be accessed on a laptop, desktop or tablet.

Check & Protect will continue to be offered free for businesses across Moray Speyside to use as we work together to protect our communities, families, visitors and businesses as we move into 24 the autumn and winter.
