Locals face off as Pearson wins eighth Ladies Indoor Bowls Singles State Title

Late last month four players from the Mount Gambier District Indoor Bowls Association travelled to Adelaide to represent the Mount Gambier region in the State Singles event.

The two men were Craig Pearson and Kevin Burn who both had to play two Broken Hill members.

Kevin lost to Milton Hawke jnr and Craig lost to Aaron Hawke, both games losing by the slimmest of margins. After losing this put them out of contention and their opponents meeting in the final with Aaron beating Milton in the final on Sunday.

The two ladies representatives had the biggest success with Fiona Pearson and Serena Bourn playing a round robin on the Saturday against Jodie Hawke from Broken Hill.

Fiona won both games and Serena won one game to forward both of them to the knockout semi finals on the Sunday.

Serena won her semi final against Metros Liz Rowley and Fiona won her semi final against Metros Linda Scarlett.

It meant the two Mount Gambier players faced off in the final.

A great high standard of bowls were on display by both players, who were determined to take the title.

After 21 ends only two shots separated the two with Fiona winning to take out her eighth State Ladies Singles Title and Serena runner up for 2022.

Playing off 10 Perryman strung six pars and a birdie together with splits of 17/18. Runner-up Geraldine Scott off 12 was only one point away with 34 points that also included six pars, splits of 16/18. Following were Trudy Herbert 32 and Helen Stratford 29.
