LifeStraw is not a retail company that has a “cause marketing” program; we are a social good, public health company that has a retail program. Through retail, we work to empower consumers to become an active part of improving the health of people around the world and the environment that we all live, explore and adventure in.
The LifeStraw brand is built on the belief that safe water is a human right and that we as a company have a responsibility to our customers to provide the highest quality water filtration products and to maximize our positive impact, socially and environmentally.

All LifeStraw products use a hollow fiber membrane filter. These membranes have microscopic pores that trap contaminants. Bacteria and parasites are bigger than the pores in the filter; water is able to pass through, but contaminants remain trapped in the filter.

What makes our Give Back Program unique: This program allows consumers in the US and Europe to engage with children in other countries that need the same thing – safe water. The program is concrete, understandable, specific, measurable and implemented with the same technology and by the same company that consumers know and trust.
LifeStraw implements programs that bring safe water to households and community settings, including schools, clinics and community centers, in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Programs include hygiene and sanitation education and integrate follow-up activity. LifeStraw is also active in disaster response situations where we work with partners to rapidly deliver long-term safe water solutions in areas struck by natural disasters such as hurricanes or floods.
LifeStraw Safe Water Fund
The LifeStraw Safe Water Fund provides a means for socially-minded individuals and organizations to engage in high-impact safe water programs around the world and respond to emergencies quickly. The Safe Water Fund enables us to crowdsource contributions from individuals, non-profits and foundations in order to expand our ability to respond to disasters and to serve vulnerable school children around the world.
The Fund is managed by New Venture Fund, a 501-c3 public charity.

The LifeStraw Program Development Team works with corporate partners to provide safe water to communities around the world. All programs include a focus on data and transparency as well as comprehensive education, follow-up and ensuring sustainability. An added focus on many of our partnerships is combining components of environmental conservation with the provision of safe water.
OUR JOURNEY
LifeStraw was built on a partnership that started over 20 years ago with the Carter Center in a collective effort to eradicate Guinea worm disease by removing the parasite from drinking water. The personal LifeStraw that removes bacteria and parasites was introduced in 2005 for people in developing countries and for emergency relief situations - providing safe drinking water to people who do not have access.
Today, the LifeStraw portfolio includes filters and purifiers for people in diverse situations. LifeStraw products are used in 64 countries. We provide safe water to developing communities and have become a leader in water filtration and purification for the outdoor sports and recreation market.
