A HISTORY OF CHANGING THE WORLD
LifeStraw was born as an effort to eradicate Guinea worm disease in partnership with The Carter Center. For 10 years, LifeStraw continued to work on Guinea worm eradication, tackled humanitarian crises and responded to waterborne disease outbreaks before becoming a retail company.

For every LifeStraw product purchased, a school child in need receives safe water for an entire school year. Our programs are long term and locally driven - we have 40 full time staff members in Kenya and we make a 5 year commitment with every water filter delivered.
WE’RE SERIOUS ABOUT PRODUCT TESTING
LifeStraw has its own ISO/IEC accredited laboratory with a team of scientists dedicated to continuous product testing. LifeStraw also validates all performance claims using accredited independent laboratory testing so all products go through both internal and external testing before reaching the market.
WE’RE GOING CARBON NEUTRAL
We’ve always strived to create long lasting products that eliminate the need for single-use plastic bottled water. However, more recently we’ve gotten serious about our footprint – eliminating 5.6 tons of plastic from our supply chain in 2019 and pledging to offset all of our annual CO2 emissions through Carbon Neutral.

NEW SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
In 2020 we will be phasing out the plastic blister packaging on LifeStraw Universal and moving to an FSC certified cardboard box. We will also be transitioning our LifeStraw Go packaging to a similar box and using molded pulp (made from 100% compostable sugarcane pulp and recycled paper) as the inner structure.

The LifeStraw Mission is a high-volume, gravity powered system that purifies water to 0.02 microns, making contaminated water safe to drink by removing bacteria, parasites, microplastics, and viruses.

The LifeStraw Max instantly purifies source water at a rate of 200 liters per hour without the need for electricity, battery power or chemicals. It has been designed for operation in emergency situations, humanitarian aid, remote job sites and group adventure travel.
