What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? Lots of fun & bright colours were a must. I wanted to steer away from a rustic theme as pretty much all caravan shoots are very rustic and vintage in style. I was aiming to go for a bright modern look that young girls would look at with envy and want to have a party of the same theme for themselves.
What were some of the unique features of this setup? Using Mother Nature as a backdrop was definitely a unique key factor. It definitely added so much more appeal doing it in the great outdoors whilst keeping our fingers crossed that Mother Nature was on our side. Also the Caravan - which was the main centrepiece to the shoot, which doubled as a pamper corner and chillout area plus a fun area to serve the desserts!
Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties and celebrations Great parties don’t always need huge budgets. Think outside the square, improvise with items you have at home, be unique and don’t be scared to be different. Get your kids involved in the planning. Ask them what they want at their party. Get their opinions and make sure it’s a theme that is relevant to their interests. Bright colours add so much more WOW factor Plan, plan, plan. A lot of people underestimate the amount of work involved in putting a party together and it can get very overwhelming. Keep track of your party planning to do lists and if it all gets too much then save the stress for someone else and outsource. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help and getting someone in to do it all for you.

How did you launch & grow PAPERplayground ? I launched PAPERplayground via social media. I started with Facebook but wasn’t on Instagram, until my friend insisted I needed to be on it. So I started an Instagram page and invited all my friends to follow me haha! It was literally the only tool I used to showcase my work (even until now) so I made sure I took great photos of my products and soon the collaborations and interest followed and that’s how it grew!
What advice do you have for other business owners in this industry to succeed? My advice would be to connect and collaborate. Work and grow together. To value everyone’s work and time in the industry, and stay in your own lane. Believe in your products and service and offer something unique. Never compare yourself to any other businesses and don’t be afraid to work hard.
Please tell us more about the collaboration and new range you have launched with Five Star Party co? What will mums and stylists love about this new range ? Wow ok, so Robert from Five Star Party Co contacted me about collaborating on a new paper partyware range shortly after meeting me at an industry party. We chatted on the night of the party and he followed up right away.
18 months later and after endless meetings, creating, testing, planning, and a lot of fun making this collection, we can confidently say we’re very proud of what we created and hope everyone loves it too! Basically we wanted to make it easier for the mums and party-makers to create their dream celebrations without compromising on quality and style. We wanted to offer something different. We wanted them to compliment the party yet stand out from the crowd; to offer functionality while looking pretty, and we wanted to make sure it’s environmentally-friendly. What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? I wanted to do something different and grungy. My son has a love for hip hop so I wanted to put together a boys party that stands out for boys, because they love sleepovers and parties too.
What were some of the unique features of this setup? Having a graffiti artist graffiti spray the balloons! I wanted to do a set up that was different and unique and a little grungy. Balloon garlands are still a big trend but I wanted to incorporate them in a different way. So having a graffiti artist come and paint them was fantastic (although he was a little confused when told he was painting balloons!)
Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties and celebrations •W hen it come to kids parties, make sure you enjoy the process. Outsource to the professionals freeing yourself up to focus on the things you love - your children and your guests. Remember you’re no good to anyone when you’re stressed. •A lways have a backup plan for any outdoor party. You never know what the weather is going to do so to know what that back up plan is will be is a huge relief if needed (both my children are winter babies and it has saved my sanity for many years now)

What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? I wanted to go with a unique colour palette that hasn’t been seen in a first birthday. Lilac is a colour close to my heart, that I have been yearning to create with. We do a lot of first birthday events at Cookie Queen Kitsch’n, and we were inspired to make something extra special which will shine brightly. I think we managed to pull this off with a bang.
What were some of the unique features of this setup? The gorgeous custom made florals with a unique gemstone design which was carried throughout from the backdrop, seating chart, gorgeous place-mats and the beautiful acrylics in lilac as well as using pops of rose gold against the plush fabrics. It came together beautifully using the contrasting elements of cold metals with warm purples against velvets and florals. The elements were brought together in amazing detail by a group of fabulous women, to create a special milestone event for baby Willow.
Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties and celebrations My top tips to planning any event are ‘its never to early to start planning’ and booking your party items & vendors. • T o research and ensure that you are using the vendors that best suit your needs. •K now your budget, and don’t be afraid to express it to your stylist, keeping in mind the scale of your event. •U se inspiration but try to remain unique in your event such as design and styling. My biggest piece of advice to you would be, if you choose a vendor for their skill, designs and workmanship - allow them to be creative, to guide you, refrain from micro-managing or clipping their wings on creation. The best events are the ones with freedom to style - you will thank me!

What was the inspiration behind this shoot? My inspiration behind the styling of this shoot was to style something different and to create a theme that will be well suited to the little birthday boy’s characteristics and background.
What were the unique features of this setup? In the styling of this setup I wanted to focus on the hot air balloon with the animals inside the balloon which was carried out through the whole theme as well as the cake itself. Another feature was the use of the white stand, and having the backdrop displayed as three panels with each panel showcasing a different angle of the theme. Another very special and unique feature was using the little shape cut outs of the balloons, animals and airplanes to style the kids and adults table to keep the flow of the theme happening.
What are your top party planning tips for mums? •M ake it fun, and unique. Just because it’s a party for kids doesn’t mean it can’t be done in an elegant and stylish way. • P lan well ahead of the event. •S et a date, find a location and then choose a fun theme to plan and work with. •U sing the right vendors and supplies is one of the most important things in any event planning and styling •O n the day of the event use all the help you can get to help with the setup. •D on’t forget to have fun and lots of laughs along the way too.

I am a mum myself, and I know first hand how stressful it can be just leaving the house some days, let alone planning a whole party! While you’re busy being the best mum you can be, we take all the pressure and strain away from having to plan your event, going back and forth liaising with vendors, styling and setting up on the day making sure every detail is executed to perfection. All you have to do is dress up and show up! It’s really almost like magic!
What unique service or offering does your business provide? We take so much pride in what we do, because simply we LOVE what we do! There is always something so special about creating a unique and memorable event for each client and being part of their celebration journeys.
Our clients truly become our family. No event is ever created identically the same, because why wouldn’t you want it custom made to your desired aspirations? However all have a consistent individual experience of perfection with an impeccable eye for detail, making each and every event more personal and special for you and your guests to enjoy.
What ‘on trend’ party product/ service are your customers loving at the moment? So much creativity in such a small universe! The visions, the themes, color palettes and decor ideas are endless today. With everyone having access to the internet, inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere. We are always changing, and developing whether it be trends or technology. What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? Anyone who knows me, knows I have a slight obsession with llamas. Often misunderstood as being obnoxious spitting beasts, I wanted to show the beautiful and soft side of their nature.
What were some of the unique features of this setup? We turned the kids tables into llamas instead of the traditional shaped tables and we created a 3 dimensional foam llama profile cut out in the centre to compliment the llama profile cake.

What inspired you to start Mrs Decor Lover?
We are an event styling and planning business that strive to offer flexibility in designing your dream event.
Event planning has always been one of my passions. I graduated in public relations in 2006 and moved to Australia soon after. I spent a few years organizing and decorating every party for my family and friends and that would be the perfect way to exercise my creativity and draw inspiration to start Mrs Decor Lover.
We have several different packages in our portfolio and you can pick anything from hiring our props and styling the event yourself all the way to a full package where you choose the theme and we will create the ultimate experience, your only job is to come to the party and have fun!!
We know how busy life is for everyone these days and party planning can be quite time consuming. When creating Mrs Decor Lover we wanted to share our experience, combine our ideas with the client’s inspirations, bring magic to people’s lives and have a blast along the way.
Our picnic setup and grazing table has been a sensation last summer. Our clients have loved experiencing the amazing outdoor locations that Sydney has to offer, enjoying great food and drinks in style.

What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? Rebekah’s Holy Communion was a very special occasion for our family. I wanted a setting for the celebration which was pretty and elegant. She was so excited about this day and the celebration after Mass was to help her recognize the significance of it all and make it a truly memorable occasion for her.
What were some of the unique features of this setup? The beautiful decal design complemented by the fresh florals all to frame the stunning cake! The fresh florals were so beautiful in their various colours – they truly helped provide the perfect backdrop for gorgeous photos which I hope Rebekah will be able to look back on with fond memories for years to come. I used the “Event Angel” service by Sweet Heavenly Events. This meant I could help develop a concept with them using vendors of my choosing – and they could set it up on the day for me according to how I would like. It is in between using full styling services and doing it yourself. It was perfect as it meant I could use the services of my wonderful Celebrate Society members while knowing I could relax during the ceremony as the “Event Angel” was taking care of the setup!

Share your top tips for those planning their child’s Holy Communion When it comes to a Holy Communion, outsource where you can! •S ince we were going to be at the Church from 12pm I knew that having a celebration at a venue and outsourcing the styling to the Event Angel’s of Sweet Heavenly Events meant that I could focus on the ceremony and enjoy the day with Rebekah. •H ave a photographer: I’m so glad I had a professional photographer to capture gorgeous photos of Rebekah and the guests on the day. •M ake it special. By creating special memories on this day it helps your child understand the importance of this occasion – so don’t be afraid to celebrate it!

What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? Sunshine, lemonade and fun! We were absolutely delighted to be blessed with a baby girl. Jessica is like beautiful sunshine in our world, she has brought light and warmth to our little family. Iwanted to create an event that represents what she has bought to our little family, light and warmth. The ‘You are my Sunshine’ playdate is sure to brighten any day! My vision was to create something light, bright and fun. On the day of the shoot the beautiful Perth sun shone bright! We made good old fashioned lemonade and enjoyed delicious lemon-flavoured sweet treats!
What were some of the unique features of this setup? It was a pretty little retro-inspired play date. A mix of bright yellow, and a splash of pink and a hint of mint. It was the most cheerful colour palette you ever did see. Event stationery designed by August Eight Celebrate with many elements including bottle labels with cute sunshine and lemonade messages. Best of all was the little lemon place cards set at each table setting. An incredible display of balloons created by Stylish Soirees Perth cascaded down from the top of our elevated cubby. I dressed up ‘the little lemonade stand’ and set it up in our backyard amongst our lemon trees, with vintage cars from Perth Toy Hire parked out front. Foote and Flame created custom “hello sunshine” signage hanging from the verandah of our Cubby and a ‘You Are My Sunshine’ topper which topped off the incredible cake created by Sweet as Candi. The sunshine cookies along with the lemon cupcakes created by Sweetly Baked Perth were enjoyed by the little ones. Stylish tableware by Favor Lane Party Boutique set the scene, with some fabulous retro pinwheels, and classic pink and yellow party hats with pom poms.
Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties and celebrations Focus on what is most important. I believe involving your child in the party preparations is so important. Be organised. Create a vision, by gaining some ideas from your little one and making up a Pinterest board. Make lists and start planning early. Enjoy the moment! And celebrate! It’s as much as a milestone for your child as it is you!

What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? I was inspired by the natural safari theme. This theme is often styled for boys with lots of green colors, so I styled the theme differently using girly vibrant colors incorporating an elegant touch to it.
What were some of the unique features of this setup? I styled the party using the low picnic tables with the large life size animals that were definitely the highlight of the setup in addition to the uniquely designed cake and cookies that were really a perfect addition to the party.
Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties & celebrations: When I first think of designing any kids party, I always ask myself what would my kids love to see in a party? As a mother of 2 lovely girls, I always love to make kids parties as fun, cool and natural as they can be. I love to make it Messy, yes messy, it’s a kid party.
