Welcome

Having worked through the most extraordinary times many of us have taken comfort in our homes and having more time to enjoy them. Transforming our spaces to enliven them with colour and design has been all about maximalism and bringing smiles to faces.

Nature has featured highly in our best sellers with Hollyhocks being one of my personal favourites, having used our Sanderson Exclusive Forest/Gold in my conservatory, which works so well enhancing the view of my garden. All things jungle has also really hit the spot as we cover our walls in lush green designs and whatever your budget, we have loads to choose from and our search facility makes finding the right wallpaper even easier.

The creative juices have been inspired by lockdown and we have some amazing new wallpapers, notably Isabelle Boxall who has produced a stunning collection from her hand painted designs. Don’t let scale worry you, it doesn’t matter if you live in a small flat, terrace, stately home or country cottage, wallpaper is totally transforming. It has been a joy to see so many of our British factories working to capacity producing such beautiful wallpapers.

A big thank you to the amazing team at Wallpaperdirect and Designerpaint – we have over 100 staff who are committed to delivering your wallpaper and paint to you; working long shift hours as the warehouses are sanitised between those shifts and maintaining a social distance as demand has grown, has not been easy. Little Greene National Trust Papers II: Little Greene’s latest wallpaper book is another collaboration with Europe’s largest conservation charity, the National Trust. ‘National Trust Papers II’ is an eclectic collection of contemporary designs based on original patterns from the National Trust’s historic houses.

Each wallpaper in the collection has been redrawn and recoloured, whilst respectfully acknowledging the traditional methods and materials from which they were originally crafted.

Design elements are taken from Georgian and Victorian block-printed papers and from older, decorative objects including a leather wall-hanging and a 15th century tapestry.

The contemporary interpretation of each design makes this a truly timeless collection of papers for homes of all architectural styles.

There are seven new patterns include the delightful, trailing ‘Massingberd Blossom’ from Gunby Hall in Lincolnshire, the playful and charming ‘Burges Snail’ from Knightshayes Court, authentic late Georgian ‘Beech Nut’, uncovered at Oxburgh Hall in Norfolk, a scrolling damask design ‘Tulip’ and delicate botanical ‘Millefleur’ inspired by a lovingly conserved tapestry at Montacute House.

Florence Broadhurst - Charismatic, fearless and eccentric, she lived an amazingly colourful life of self-reinvention.

Changing her name, her appearance, even her voice, she took on an array of different personas. Leaving her humble beginnings in the Australian outback, she became ‘Bobby Broadhurst’, a showgirl in the Far East in the 1920s. In 1940s London, from a salon on Bond Street, she clothed the aristocracy (and even the Queen Mother!) as ‘French’ couturier ‘Madame Pellier’. A flamboyant socialite, she lived life to the full.

Florence was a creative genius with an exquisite eye, and an astute businesswoman. Back in her native Australia, she created over 500 beautiful wallpaper and textile designs through the 1960s and 70s which were sought after all over the globe.

And it is these designs that are now recreated in this amazing new wallpaper collection, which takes its influences from her travels and exuberant personality. Her extraordinary designs have been reimagined into a modern yet authentic style, inspired by the colourful chapters of her life. Beautiful chinoiserie, flamboyant florals, bold geometrics and Far Eastern inspired wallcoverings are created using traditional printing techniques, bringing quintessential quirky and luxury style to your home.

Sadly, in 1977, Florence’s prolific period of design was brought to a tragic end when she was brutally murdered in her design studio in Sydney. Her murder remains unsolved to this day.

But she has left behind an amazing legacy, which we hope you will enjoy as much as we do.

This is so that you can get an idea of the true colour and texture of the wallpaper.

You do need to ensure that your wallpaper is correctly and securely adhered to the wall. Prepare the wall with a wallpaper primer sealer, and then using a good quality ready mixed adhesive, such as Albany Super Smooth, put up your lining paper and then your decorative wallpaper.

Unfortunately, different mobile and computer screens vary a lot in their colour settings. And there is no substitute for the actual paper. We can show the pattern on-line, how it repeats and its scale and show what it looks like in various room settings but not what the true colour will look like in your home. In addition, so many wallpapers have metallic or lustre effects, which we can try to show you with photography but again, nothing compares with holding the paper in your hand.
