Derby German Group
This group of German speakers both native and non-native with a shared interest in or a connection to the German language meet for a monthly Kaffee und Kuchen get together on the second Saturday of the month upstairs at The Carnero Lounge on St Peter’s Street in Derby. Other events are organised that have a connection to a German speaking country or the language. New members are always welcome. Trowels, Tea & Talk
A brand new Community Garden has been created by the volunteers at Whistlewood Common. Melbourne Community Care will be running buses there every Tuesday morning from 10am for anyone looking to get involved. It’s a great opportunity to spend some time in the great outdoors - do a bit of gardening or just have a brew and a chat. To book your seat on the bus please call the Melbourne Community Care offi ce on 01332 863 585 (open weekdays from 10am-noon).
Kegworth Community Library
Can you spare 2 to 3 hours per week to help with the Community Library? They urgently need volunteers to keep this important service operating. It’s a fantastic way to meet new people and make new friends. Pop into the library to pick up a volunteer application form or call 01509 554 176. The library is open 2pm to 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 4pm to 6pm on Friday and 10am to 12noon on Saturday.
Save the Date
Osgathorpe Open Gardens will run from 12noon on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June. Entry to the gardens costs £3.50 per person for both days. Accompanied under 16s go free. There will be plants for sale - grown expertly by the villagers. Trails, games, cream teas, a cake stall, bar, snacks and more will also be available. LOROS Twilight Walk
This annual event returns on Saturday 28th May to help raise much needed funds for terminally ill patients and their families. In keeping with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, this year’s theme is a Royal Parade and is open to Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses, Knights and Jesters. The 10km royal procession starts and fi nishes at Leicester’s King Power Stadium. Tickets are just £12 per person. The walk starts at 6pm with entertainment from 5pm. Kegworth Players
Join Kegworth Players for two hilarious one-act comedies ‘Talk of the Devil’ by John Waterhouse and Alan Ayckbourn’s perennial favourite ‘Gosforth Fete’. Both plays guarantee to have you laughing in no time. Performance dates are Thursday 12th, Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May at Kegworth Village Hall. Doors and Bar open at 7pm for 7.30pm curtain-up.
