The Museum is very grateful to Peter Varden for kindly donating a set of photographs of the town taken during this year. Peter did this in 2010 and gave us a folder of photographs then. He uses fi lm photography, not digital and it is fascinating to compare the changes made over the past 12 years. Thank you again, Peter.

Following a second successful Town Walk last month, we are hoping to publish a new, fuller programme of walks in the Spring. Thank you to all who joined us this year. The Hello Heritage display we ran last month, on the National School in North Street has also attracted a lot of interest.

A reminder that our Ian Clews Memorial quiz will take place on Friday 28th October at 6.45pm at Packington Memorial Hall. Tickets cost £15 which includes a fi sh and chip supper (other options available – see booking form). We’re set up for tables of 6 but we are happy to create them from bookings by individuals or couples. Booking forms are available now from either the museum or by emailing quiznight@ashbymuseum.org The deadline for returning booking forms and payment is Friday 21st October by 1.30pm.

Christmas cards

A new design by local artist, Di Lorriman , is added to our range this year featuring Kilwardby Street/Holy Trinity church. This complements our existing range covering Market Street, the Loudoun Memorial, Mill Lane Mews, Ashby Castle, the Spa Baths, the Railway Station and St Helen’s church. Cards will be on sale from the museum from early October.
