Ashby Venture Theatre
We are currently performing a very interesting play written by Alan Ayckbourne called Private Fears in Public Places. This drama is unusual in that we are putting the play on ‘in the round’, or at least with the audience on three sides of the actors. This technique brings the actors very close to the audience in an intimate setting and can work very well for certain plays.

All of Alan Ayckbourn’s productions are written for this sort of format and were premiered at Scarborough Theatre. This play was taken to New York in 2005 and critics called it ‘Absolutely Flawless’.
There are six main characters who are separate people but strangely linked by circumstance. Does Ambrose have a secret life? What on earth is Charlotte up to? Does Nicola still love Dan? All in all, a tale of the misheard, the unspoken and the sadly misunderstood.
Alan Ayckbourn is a genius who has written 86 plays, many of which went on to be best sellers. We have performed many of his plays including Relatively Speaking, Round and Round the Garden, Bedroom Farce, Ten Times Table, Wildest Dreams, Life and Beth, Sugar Daddies and the children’s Sci - Fi play Callisto 5.
The play runs from Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th April and Wednesday 4th to Saturday 7th May. Tickets are £10 each which includes a free programme. They are available from our website using Ticketsource on ‘ashbyventuretheatre.org. uk’. or you can buy them from our theatre box offi ce on Fridays and Saturdays some weeks before the play from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
New Young Talent
We are very pleased that our membership has increased recently and now we have some young people who want to mount their own production. This is planned for July when various one act plays and entertainment will be presented to the public. We hope to continue to use younger members in future productions.

On Saturday 4th June we have an interesting event taking place. As part of the Jubilee celebrations there will be a ‘Play in a Day’ performed at the Venture. It will be part of the Town’s Jubilee events. The organiser, ‘Chorus Theatre’, will be recruiting actors for this special day so look out for details on our website or Facebook page.
