All about…microblading
Advertisement
What? The demand for microblading (semi-permanent eyebrow makeup) hasn’t waned in recent years as the trend for bushier brows has taken off – and shows no signs of slowing down. The appearance of thicker brows lends well to a more youthful appearance, but reasons to opt for the procedure vary – from providing more definition to eyebrow shape, to offering the appearance of eyebrows when there’s nothing there at all. How? The technician applies a numbing cream before using a tattooing tool (with tiny blades) to carefully apply the dye. It’s all planned first and you are able to see the shape of the brows and agree on the colour before committing. Allow about four hours for the first sitting and there’s a follow-up (for a top-up) a month later of about an hour.
Where? Thanks to Sublime Beauty, microblading can come to you! Simone is a member of the Harley Street Microblading Academy and VTCT Level 4 Qualified (the highest accreditation in semi-permanent makeup). She is also a mobile microblading technician within the boroughs of Bromley, Greenwich and Croydon. How Much? Prices start from £190.
Our thoughts: Having given microblading a go with Sublime Beauty, we were delighted at the prospect at not having to fill in gaps in eyebrows every morning for the next 1-3 years. We’ve got more definition and, what we particularly love is the subtlety of the shading – it looks completely natural – great for the ‘no makeup look’ and for those who believe ‘less is more’.

How to…do a lunge (correctly)
Fran Flin of Flin’s Fitness says "Like the squat, there are many variations; each version challenging the legs in differing ways. In its basic static form, the legs should be in a long stride, hip width apart giving you a stable base. Keeping the back upright, drop the back knee towards the floor, as if trying to squash a drink can under the knee! The upright position of the body avoids any over bending at the front knee and you should aim for a 90’ angle at both knees in the down phase. Return to start for one rep. You can vary the speed of the lunge and add weights for more intensity.

3 things you didn’t know
about your scar
1. When treated early, you can lessen the
appearance of scars: When you take early action, you can prevent scars from forming or ensure the smallest possible scarring. Silicone treatments have been clinically proven to be effective in this healing.
For example, Kelo-Cote gel helps prevent hypertrophic and keloid scars from forming - but it is important to use it as soon as the wound is closed, or sutures are removed. 2. There are several different types of scars: These different types of scars are defined by shape, depth and characteristics of the scar tissue. The different types of scars are called: Fineline, Keloid,
Contractures, Hypertrophic and Pitted Scars. Each different scar has different needs.
3. Scars don't contain Melanin - the pigment that
protects skin from UV radiation: SPF protection is important because regardless of skin colour, scars don’t contain melanin – the pigment that protects skin from UV radiation. So, if scars are left exposed to the sun, they can become more pronounced and even disfigured.
