Three years from now Londoners could be welcoming a 465-hectare theme park. Plans to open The London Resort have passed the first test of ‘Planning Inspectorate’ and if given full consent by the Government, building works could commence as early as next year. Plans include six themed lands featuring rides and rollercoasters, an 800-room hotel and a water park. The London Resort also plans to be the first operationally carbon neutral theme park and has outlined plans to create a green network of amenity areas and parkland to include areas of environmental enhancement and wildlife habitat creation adjacent to the River Thames. ‘Spectacular Specsavers in Lockdown’

by Lisa Winton

In the midst of tier 5 lockdown When browsing is just not allowed You can’t even get your computer repaired Most shops are closed, I’ve found But there is a little secret oasis In Bromley when all seems grim ‘Specsavers’ is really a saviour You’ll be happily welcomed in!

You’ll find frames unbearably beautiful Crazy pinks and styles galore Pointy-cat-woman spectaculars Or something more subtle, you’ll adore

Some are dangerously stylish Statement glasses fashioned to flaunt Lighter metal for the studious Others for a more casual jaunt

You’ll find a cunning little glasses machine That bends the frames to fit Heating up the plastic ends To ensure that they’re in good nick

You’ll be ushered over to the eye room Prompted to place your chin on a rest You’ll observe a stripey tangerine balloon Then an eyeball puff for the test

Last but not least, there’s the framing One or two of your favourite style Choose for distance, perhaps another for reading All designed to beguile

After trying on the potential frames They are sanctified on a tray Sprayed with hygienic liquid Ready for another day

After a week of waiting Your glasses will be duly made You can pose in the mirror for fitting If you have a voucher, the amount will be paid

Thank you, Specsavers for the experience The most reassuring atmosphere, you’ll get Charming staff despite these gruelling times Still eager to order your specs
