Love of sci-fi influences former teacher’s art
F
ormer high school math teacher Gary Weston thought he might spend his retirement writing children’s books, but those plans changed drastically. Weston, who taught math for 30 years, has combined his love for sci-fi and math to create steampunk art. He repurposes a variety items to create futuristic-looking sculptures. Many of his creations can be plugged in and light up or have some sort of effect. “I had no idea I was going to do this when I retired,” Weston said.
