Cebu City is designated as a “Creative City of Design” by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) however, the city’s creative landscape was found to be sporadic leading to a lack of a dedicated arts and design district.
As we transition to the FourthIndustrialRevolutionorthe Industry 4.0, it is hightime that we adopt emerging technologies such as extended reality (XR) which includes virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), and augmented reality (AR) as a new medium for ideation, production, and distribution in the creative industries.
To accelerate the developments in the creative industries, creative start-ups play a huge role in the introduction of new ideas and innovation. However, these start-ups are subjected to factors such as high entry market costs and production which can hinder their growth.
Additionally, emerging technologies in XR only stimulate the auditory and visual senses which lacks the stimulation of haptics. This leads to lacking characterstics of immersive experience as a new medium for creatives.
Site Analysis

The site in focus is in Camp Lapu-Lapu, Apas, Cebu City. The site being a former military base camp opens up as a new growth driver of the city in creating spaces for the creatives as a true “Creative City of Design”.
The site has a total land area of 24.79 hectares with a sloping terrain and abundant vegetation. It is in close proximity to existing creative activities, high commercial activity in IT Park, and universities offering creative programs.

CEBU NORTH GATEWAY: LILOAN INTERMODAL SEAPORT TERMINAL AND PLAZA REDEVELOPMENT

CEBU NORTH GATEWAY: LILOAN INTERMODAL SEAPORT TERMINAL AND PLAZA REDEVELOPMENT
Location: Municipality of Liloan, Cebu
Project Type: Academic Project
Project Composition: Partnership
Contributions: Primary Research, Planning & Development, 3D Modeling, Design Conceptualization, Architectural Diagrams, and Schematic Utility Diagrams
The Municipality of Liloan with its fast-paced economic growth, recent developments pose threats to the historical fabric of Liloan where there is a clear disparity and disconnect with recent developments and the identity of the locality. The spurring economic growth also poses the municipality as a gateway to the north-side of Cebu which calls for a state-of-the-art facility as the municipality reaches cityhood.
The redevelopment aims to bypass the land travel time to address issuesofeconomiclossesduetotrafficjam, connect different modes of transportation for user-convenience and revitalize the historic fabric of the municipality.

ZONING AND VISTAS
ACCESSIBILITY AND VEHICULAR MOBILITY

For an Intermodal Seaport Terminal, we looked into the flow of passengers and its relationship with other modes of transportation such as buses, PUJs, and even tricycles.
The vehicular and pedestrian circulation concept was formulated by taking inspiration from an airport circulation. This resulted into a two-level seaport terminal while maximizing the ground level use of immediate connection to buses and PUJs.
