With more than 200 areas of study, Liberty’s School of Business allows students to customize their degree to meet their unique interests.
The Center for Entrepreneurship connects students who have ideas for business ventures with faculty and local entrepreneurs who can help them determine if their ideas are viable and, if so, develop and launch them. Students can also connect peer-to-peer to take advantage of a variety of talents and skills.
GLOBAL PROGR A MS
LU Study Abroad gives students the opportunity to assist an overseas business development venture. Students spend several weeks in-country working alongside locals and gaining invaluable hands-on international business experience.

Internships provide students with the opportunity to discover and develop their interests and talents as they sharpen their skill sets. Working diligently at numerous companies, our students are being hired for permanent positions after completing internships. These companies include Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG), Samaritan’s Purse, Nationwide, Hendrick Automotive Group, Tate & Tryon, Google, and Cisco.

Recent guests have included Art Laffer, an American economist; Jim Bridenstine, former director of NASA; Tony Nobles, inventor and entrepreneur; James Golden, producer of the Rush Limbaugh radio talk show; and Heather Preu, VP of the International Business Machines Corporation.

Students can travel with the School of Business and have the opportunity to earn course credit. Students have explored Germany, Haiti, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Switzerland, South Africa, and many other countries.

BRINGING DREAMS TO FRUITION Tom Cirbus graduated from Liberty in 2013 with bachelor's degrees in finance and accounting. After graduation, Cirbus started his career at KPMG in its Transaction Services group in New York City. In his role with KPMG, he helped advise private equity and corporate clients and complete financial due diligence on potential acquisition targets. After a year with the firm, Cirbus took a job with Wells Fargo Securities on its Equity Capital Markets desk in New York City. While at Wells Fargo Securities, Cirbus helped consumer and retail clients navigate
IPOs, follow-ons, and a number of other strategic equity-linked transactions. During his tenure, Cirbus helped raise over $13 billion in equity capital through restaurants, retailers, food and beverage providers, consumer products, and gaming companies. More recently, Cirbus moved to Eastdil Secured — a boutique real estate advisory firm — as an investment banking associate. In his role at Eastdil, Cirbus advises public real estate investment trusts on a wide range of strategic processes, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, debt capital market transactions, equity capital market transactions, and many other corporate financing needs. In his free time, Cirbus enjoys golfing, spending time with friends, working on a graduate degree, and volunteering as the production manager at his church, Hillsong NYC.

DEVELOPING WORKERS FOR NEW FRONTIERS Liberty was among the first universities to offer a simulated computer networking environment online. With Liberty’s partnership with Cisco Systems, students gain experience in an “enterprise-class” environment (a computer network large enough to serve a major company or Internet Service Provider). Through other strategic partnerships with leading companies, such as Adobe, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and VMware, Liberty students are not only able to earn system certifications as part of their education but also get a foot in the door with these top employers. “All of these partnerships have produced jobs that students were given because of these relationships,” said Dr. Michael Hart, former chair of Information Technology for the School of Business. For example, students who earn certification in Oracle Database — the lead enterprise database provider in the world — are “earmarked [for employment] before they even leave,” said Hart.
